TopDogJW
I've been ************ about this in the above-linked thread for the past 24 hours. XD Good for you sir. I on the other hand was browsing these forums and looked into a thread currently at the top of the list, and gave my 2 cents. Thank you for the link however. Malice_Nihilim
Because that will be a day of great rejoicing amongst the consumers. Is there anything stupider right now than the very concept of a PvP reward system that is purely random? Wouldn't it make more sense if every bag had a fixed number of commendations, and every piece of gear has a fixed cost? Why the stupid random crap that results in some people needing many hundreds of bags to get a set of champion gear, and other people get it all in 10-20? Please get rid of this garbage. lawl, you guys are funny. Get over it, sheeesh
Saberolson
I find the bigger flaw is that people are having to farm PVP gear, in order to progress in PVE. What would be so hard with a simple system on both sides. PVP. Bags have 3 coms, 10 bags equals gear PVE: farm normal lvl 50 instances, get tokens from bosses, get gear for HM. Farm HM instances, get tokens for it, get gear for ops. Ect, ect, all the way till the end of the game. Instead you get smashed going into HM in the gear you got from the normals, leading to everyone having to farm gear from PVP, which is completly random at best, and from what I hear, ops are easier than the HMs. This stuff shouldnt be that difficult. Progression=1,2,3,4. Not 1,4,3,2.
Buzzerd
Right now it is a Friday afternoon and any company that puts out MMO's are getting together to celebrate and laugh their asses off. This games pvp could not be worse if you had a damn nitemare of bad pvp this wouldn't even touch it. The bugs, exploits, cheats is so over run in this game it is absolutely amazing. There are so many players that have figured out exploits on so many things only way this game has any future is to shut it down. Hire some people with college degrees and actual gaming experience and fix this mess. I could not of ever imagined a worse game.....Also, the joke on mirror classes is one of the bigger jokes. PulseXXX
To play Devil's Advocate here, don't you simplify the grind by making loot into a pure currency system? Instead of working towards something, you are really just rep grinding. Replace rep with commendations/tokens/wooden nickels, whatever. It's just a matter of time played = gear gained. Not saying one is right or one is not, just that the nuclear solution that WoW used (just get everyone tokens to get the gear they want), kinda makes what you are working for less of an accomplishment and less unique. After all, why bother to spend time going after the Hammer of Ragneros if everyone else on your server has one as well?
Elear
Just to be clear... If it took 30 commendations, at 3 per bag, that would be 10 bags. Every bag I got I would know that I was 10% closer to the next piece of gear. That would be great. I could look forward to every step along the way. I would be excited about every single bag because I would know I was getting steadily closer. The current random system completely cheats players of this enjoyment. Each time you open a bag and it has nothing, you are sent right back to the beginning. You are no closer at all to a decent piece of gear. Devs: Understand why the current random system is a complete, miserable failure? Switch around t0.25 and t0.5 in ways to aquire. Making item drop instant item, but of worse quality than what you can buy with comendations. 10 bags would get you closer to your(pre-battlemaster) top gear, and if not you get few stepping stones along way. Worse idea is, even though you can't trade unassembled pieces and you can't 'ninja' them from anyone, why they are divided by classes? All it means is that when you get your fifth implant, you can throw it away, unless you have more than one companion benefiting from same stats as you. Unless purpose here was to favour troopers, as most of their companions benefit from aim. Yes, I want to use useless duplicates on companions, and as you can see I can't. Altough it's no reason to fire anyone. Or set them on fire.
Buzzerd
These guys cannot fix bugs you honestly think they can think out a system for loot? They cannot catch the exploiters on shii choo who are full battlemaster after yesterday. They cannot figure out *** mirror classes mean. Aside from an ok pve game the pvp system as a hole is a whole a big A hole of crap. Edited January 20, 2012 by Buzzerd

After all, why bother to spend time going after the Hammer of Ragneros if everyone else on your server has one as well? Time and work should be awarded. At the very least more so than just pure dumb luck. My first 2 days of PvPing I got 7 pieces of tier 2, which is more than my friend who had been PvPing for 2 weeks had gotten. Since then, Ive been able to afford 2 pieces of tier 1, which I would have gotten sooner, but the RNG keeps giving me the same pieces of tier 2 I already have, and at the same time slowing down getting my tier 1 look. I have 7 tier 2, and 2 tier 1, and the tier 1 were FAR harder to get. And I may not get another piece of tier 2 until I am rank 60+, because of the RNG. Hell I probably wont be able to afford all of the tier 1 before that, because I keep getting 1 commendation in my bags, plus a relic or implant. It is a serious flaw in the system. It just doesnt make sense. a little random is OK, it makes you feel good if you get a loot drop. An entire system based on a lottery is a really really bad idea. nininininja
The rng loot bags are fine. So what if someone gets a little/lot luckier than you? **** happens. The only problem with this system is the ability to get duplicates. Who the hell came up with that idea? I wouldn't mind if the bags had a 10% chance to drop or maybe even less, i'd be okay with a little grind, but getting duplicates is just plain stupid. Rng only works when the outcomes are either success or failure. Failing sucks but when you do succeed it's awesome. However, with the way the system is now, sometimes a success can still be a fail because it's a duplicate. Bad system.
manvsdead
This whole issue is made more frustrating by their deafening silence regarding everyone's hatred towards their pvp gear reward system. The vitriol wouldn't be so bad if they'd just tell us "we know it's an issue and we are drawing up plans to change it" - I'd be psyched just to know that it won't be like this forever. That in itself would pay for another month or two of my subscription to be perfectly honest.
Pashgan
Faith in better future is most powerful motivations of humans who aren't hungry, ill, or scared of something - i.e. average MMO player. These damned bags-o-duplicates destroyed this motivation by putting toon's future in horrible jeopardy there you can get half of suit and +15 duplicates after that or 10-20 empty bags in a row. If I believed in luck - as Bioware expect me to do - I'd sell my house, car, emptied my bank account and went to casino to bet everything on red again and again until I'll become a billionaire. This sounds equally stupid as empty/duplicated bags which takes 4-5 hours to farm each. And yes - when I'll hear the person who invented this crap is fired - I'll buy and drink a bottle of champagne despite the fact I'm not drinking. Firstborn
I just found out of this CRAP system, Im going to unsub, i wont do a random ****in **** system ever again. YOU expect a salary when you work, not a chance for a salary, idiotic, *******st ever thing i seen. Out of words when i waited since 2009 for this game. Muckbeast
Our guild calls them bags of dissapointment. Pretty much. I just got my 5th earpiece today. What makes the dupes even worse than empty bags is when you get a dupe, you only get 1 cent comm. An empty bag at least has 3 cent coms. I just found out of this CRAP system, Im going to unsub, i wont do a random ****in **** system ever again. YOU expect a salary when you work, not a chance for a salary, idiotic, *******st ever thing i seen. Out of words when i waited since 2009 for this game. I'm not angry enough yet to unsub over this, but I certainly sympathize. I also think you have a great analogy there. You don't work for 2 weeks and at the end of it get a random roll for whether or not you get no paycheck, half a paycheck, your normal paycheck, or double the normal paycheck. You just get your paycheck. This allows you to plan for things you want, set a budget, etc. People like this. The current system blows so heavily because when you want a certain item, it could take you 1,000 bags or heck, you could NEVER get it. Right now, I really want the purple champ light saber. I went so far as to even pay 250k creds for a magenta crystal on the GTN (which turned out to be PINK for crying out loud). Every bag should get me a noticeable amount closer, but it doesn't. Every time it isn't the light saber, I'm right back to the beginning. Its like a game of Candy Land where every single card is the plum that sends you back to the beginning. Muckbeast
Look at my signature. I salute your effort, but the solution in that post is possibly more annoying than what we have. I don't want some super complex crazy system that counts ball carries, scores, etc. when determining my gear. I want a very simple token system. I PvP. I earn tokens. I spend them on exactly what I want. End of system. No need for more complexity.
McVade
I have an idea... instead of firing him, how about at the end of every day, we give him a bag. See how long before he quits if his paycheck has the same drop rate as PvP gear.
