tiennen
Question: Got a shadow to lvl 10, see that my new weapon proficiency lets me use double-bladed lightsabers and electrostaves. the problem with this is......nearly all of the shadow abilities require a double-bladed lightsaber. what is the point of giving us the ability to use an electrostaff? and no, this is not the same as a commando using a blaster rifle, seeing as they could use a blaster rifle BEFORE they selected their AC. Consulars/Inquisitors could not use an electrostaff before they chose their AC. And only Shadow/Assassin can use them. Suggestion: Allow Shadows and Assassins to effectively use electrostaves, seeing as how it would purely be a cosmetic choice, and would not affect gameplay in the slightest. ZakPreston
Allow Shadows/Assassins to use dual wield, and I'll pay an annual subscription =))

TItanten
I'll agree with you here. Treat them all the same. Let it be a stylistic choice to use a vibrosword or electrostaff.

Let it be a stylistic choice to use a vibrosword or electrostaff. well, technically a vibrosword isn't two-handed. while electrostaves and double-bladed lightsabers are. i think they should just remove the weapon requirements from spells and let people use what they want to use. (just make the requirement be for ANY weapon equipped) Edited January 19, 2012 by tiennen

Fokias
This is plain stupid. I was really excited to use an Electro-staff. Disappointed, once again. Customization is 1/10 in this game atm.
Ueberwald
I concur. Electrostaffs as a viable option would not be hurting anybody - all that would accomplish is to allow players to customize a bit more. Surely that cannot be a bad thing, can it? Plus, lore-wise it makes perfect sense. The times when Sith would use alchemically enhanced weapons of Phrik alloy / Cortosis (which, incidentally, proved to be devastating weapons since their conductive natures could absorb and store Force Lightning), making them lightsaber-resistant and able to compete with the technologically more advanced lightsabers, are closer to the era SW:TOR's setting is placed in than the time of the movies, after all About the only issue I see with that is that designers now and then might be asked to come up wth skins for new Electrostaffs as content progresses - but come on, with the amount of cash already pumped into the game, that cannot be THAT big an issue €dit: Bug report logged. Reasoning is that a) Sith Warriors/JKs can use Vibroswords with 100% of their skills despite tooltip requirement of lightsaber/two lightsabers, b) similar tooltip restrictions appear on Shadow/assassin skills, c) Electrostaff is an Assassin-/Shadow-exclusive weapon proficiency raising the question as to why put it there in the first place, d) It not being solely a pet weapon like Techblades e.g. by virtue of Electrostaffs appearing on HM loot tables whereas stuff like Techblades doesn't. Quip
I just don't like weapon restrictions any more complex than mêlée or ranged. So I'll hop on board with the rest of you. My Merc wants a rifle, keeping mods and crap in two blasters is causing me to become an emo nerd. No one wants that.
ShadesToo
I play as sith assasin and use a single bladed lightsabre. I would love to be able to use my full potential (as in my various charges) and things like Maul. The choice of weapon (single sabre, double bladed sabre, vibrosword or electro staff) has nothing do with back stabbing (Maul), or using the force to charge your weapon, guarding or any of the other abilities that call for a double bladed sabre. Please let the player choose the weapon they wish from their class choices without impacting play. I looked at the electrostaff as well as it looked like an interesting weapon, but the restriction on double bladed sabre also applies to it. While some abilities may sensibly be restricted to certain weapons (sniper rifles or BFGs or dual pistols) a bit of flexibility would not hurt in the case of an assasins/shadows sabre charges and likely with other classes that I am not familier with, as well.
