Repair Bills are detrimental to the design of HMs

Before I say anything. I *********** LOVE this game. I've been having a blast. My guild has already cleared EV on 8m HM and we are going to begin 16m Ops this weekend. I love running HM flashpoints. The harder bosses are a blast.

But that brings up an issue. I find myself extremely discouraged when working on something like the new bonus boss in Kaon Under Siege, for the simple reason that in 30 minutes worth of wipes (call it 6-8ish attempts) I was able to blow nearly 100k credits JUST on repair bills.

Thats *********** insane. 100k credits is equivalent to: Aprox 20 WZ matches, The absolute best blue Str lightsaber on the GTN at this moment, Several dozen stimpacks, Rank 2 mount training, 1/3 of Rank 3 mount training, Around 10 solo dailies(a bit less than that, more like 8, if you vendor the rewards)... etc etc.

To give you an idea, a single death for me, being fully geared in Columni/Champion/Rakata epics, is equivalent to about 11-12k cred repair bill. When I have the knowledge that each one of my deaths costs the equivalent of about 10 minutes of questing, or 20+ minutes of running WZs, it makes me NOT WANT to do hard content. Because I know for every death i sustain, I'm incurring massive costs to myself. It ESPECIALY makes me not want to run PUGs, and try to meet new people, which I honestly love to do(some of the people I met in PUG dungeon runs in previous MMOs I was friends with for years)

To make it clear, I have no intrinsic objection to the idea of repair bills. It's an MMO, it needs money sinks or inflation gets out of control. But over the last 3 weeks or so, I've spent something like over half my total income (that is, more than a million creds) on repair bills while doing HM FPs and Ops. They need to be adjusted, as you get geared up the repair cost per death just spirals wildly out of control.

Whats going to happen is either they reduce the difficulty of HMs, which given that they are not absurdly hard to begin with (Usually one boss per dungeon is a bit nuts, but hell, thats the fun one), or they reduce the the penalties for repeated attempts at a boss. Or else people like me, that dislike soloing, so have reduced income (Not THAT reduced, I still clear something like 100k an hour if I knock it out), are going to quit running them.

How did you blow 100k credits?

with columi gear you can wipe like 5-6times , and when you repair its ~40k...

and btw why are you wiping that much.

if you did EV HM , why are you wiping that much in an HM FP?

yes this FP HM is the hardest of all the FP but after 1wipe on the bonus and the last boss you clearly know what to do and dont die...

Considering I make over 400K per day spending heavily I dont see the issue.

there has to be a penalty to die.

and dailies give a CRAPLOAD of money..

just do your dailies every day and quit sending comps on expensive missions.

The only problem I have with repair bills in raids and flash points is the fact that you are not earning money at all. Zero trash items to sell, zero cash credits on mobs. You have the same money when you leave as you did when you walked in except now you spend 50k or more on repairs.

I have almost half rakata gear. It jumps up substantially to over 10k per death.

again.. do your dailies.. you can even sell the armorings and mods etc on the GTN for more..

We only wiped on the bonus boss. Mainly because I was running with some people I just met trying to get a feel for them before I brought them into the main raid group. I was running as DPS instead of my normal heal spec.

Just throwing this out here, but several of these bosses(second boss in Ilum, Revan, this dude) is head and shoulders harder than anything in HM EV 8m

You can blow an hours worth of dailies money in sub-30 minutes of attempts on a new boss. How does that make sense?

If some1 is half rakata geared and dies to bonus boss in a HM FP, maybe its real playing an MMO doesnt require skills but only time.

Or hey! Maybe I was running as DPS, in a full healing set, running with people who have a fraction of my gear, trying to kill a fairly challenging 4 man boss.

Crazy how that works huh?

/abandons thread

I guess I will continue to farm a 10-15 minute quest for EVERY SINGLE DEATH I take. Thanks guys! I mean, it's not like damn near every other modern MMO besides this one has begun ditching or nerfing to hell the entire concept of repair bills.

It is a little pricy it seems.

2 or 3 wipes and I had a 14K repair bill and I don't even have end game gear yet but very good gear.

It was kind of a shock but then in comparison I did 8 dailies and made about 100K or more so in perspective, it was really not that bad.
