AZmonsoon
I forgot which quest it was (lvl 12). I'm asked to steal a log from the senator's robot because the senator is joining the sith. When I am stopped by the pimply faced kid, he offers to give me fake logs but it shows up a a light side bonus, and to steal the log to prevent the senator's plans to join sith is a dark side bonus. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Urivial
Not a smuggler quest actually, as I completed it on my trooper when I got to coruscant. From what I can tell, it comes down to the Republic being a democracy. This senator you're stealing from is not being underhanded about it, he's using the law the republic has set up to plan a breakaway faction to join the Sith. Yes he might be going to the other faction, but he's doing it all by the books. On the other hand, the person you're doing the quest for wants you to steal the parcel, which is illegal, so they can trash the senator's name and make him unimportant. What it comes down to is, just because it might help the republic doesn't make it a good thing to do. The Republic isn't universally light-side. AZmonsoon
I can see it that way. I guess the 'act' of stealing in istelf is darkside anyways.
Kedan
Ultimately, you're getting the Dark Side points because you're subverting the democratic process which is the foundation of the Republic. Sure, the Senator might be a moron, but he has a right to have his idiocy heard. By stealing the documents, you're basically saying that the only people who have the right to be heard are the ones you agree with, which sounds an awful lot like the beginnings of Tyranny. If they'd built this quest correctly, you'd get lightside points and XP for refusing to take it in the first place, and explaining to the questgiver why it was such a bad idea.
