Drakovian
Try out a Sniper in Engineering spec, lots of defensive abilities for pvp and quite a capable dpser. I'm originally a sniper class, and wanted to test out engineering. Did over 400k my first time playing as Engineer in huttball.
Battilea
Don't think there's the equivalent of an EQ necro or WoW warlock, the DoT stacking type of character. I'm having fun as a pyrotech focused merc BH. Not super DoT focused, but I do proc a dot with shots, do bonus damage to dot'd things, and set things on fire with an incendiary missile. On top of that, I've got a variety of channeled abilities, like flamethrower and Unload. But most of my time is spent using Power Shot. The Powertech version of such a build looks to be a bit more fire focused, so would probably fit the bill even better.
Guurzak
Lethality sniper stacks dots and then applies a nuke which does major extra damage for each dot ticking.

Suitmonster
The Balance tree of the Jedi Shadow or Jedi Sage are very dot oriented. Shadow is still melee, but as Balance you forego things like back stabbing for ranged nukes and stealth + dots and no heals (except from some dot ticks.) Sage can cast heals, but will not be using melee and cannot stealth. Both are light armor. Sage gets the traditional single lightsaber, Shadow uses a double-bladed saber. Kelthien
The Scoundrel might be good for you... Stealth, Heals, and the "dirty fighting" tree has a bunch of bleed (which is a DoT) based damage. Vital Shot and Shrap Bombs both apply bleeds. hemorrhaging blast and wounding shot take advantage of that.
