Do u really consider illum open world pvp?

In my opinion open pvp is dead in mmos mainly because they funnel u into areas in order to do so. Open world pvp should happen anywhere and across all planets. To me illum is just another wz... why not make an open world pvp currency thaf u only get while killing anywhere in the world outside of a wz. Make it players within 10 lvls award the currency to avoid gankfests. This way it feels way more like open world and way more at war if a imp group starts terrorizing anchorhead a rep group can hwad to defend it... make the best pvp come from this currency.

Sure u need to take in consideration unbalanced pops, but at least ur actually engaging in open world, people have reason to do it and u arent forcing them into a badly designed "game". Its up to thefactions to get things going.

Just a thought.

Open world pvp

1. Open - ilum is out in the open, an open planet. It's not instanced.

2. World - a planet is a world

3. PvP - players killing players is PvP.

Is it FAIL open world pvp? yeah.

Is it an "exploit?" No. It's a design flaw.

Ilum was basically a clone of Wintergrasp, no matter how hard BW tried to be creative.

I'd much rather this just be 100 v 100, or 50 v 50 (on a MUCH SMALLER F'ING PLANET) like wintergrasp, rather than be "lol open world pvp."

I consider Ilum a fast way to get to valor rank 100. Just rally all the empire players, and you will overrun their base, and within 1 hour you'll be valour rank 100, easy. Just keep spawn camping them, and keep the lightning on the spawnpoint.

No it's not open world pvp, it's a pathetic, instanced, pve orientated (right click on pve offenses / defenses) mess.

Developers have no idea what open world pvp is.......asherons call, everquest, ultima online, vanguard, swg, all did it well, and they're all old mmo's. But all recent mmo's have failed miserably at pvp with their stupid arenas/warzones/instanced crap

It really annoys me because making an awesome open world pvp zone is conceptually not that hard. You need a zone that is highly trafficked by both factions and on a pvp server you're done.

To make the zone work well for this you include some dungeons, world bosses, dailies, raids, maybe some unique stuff, maybe some chests to camp, the list goes on. Make the zone the place to be (rather than sitting in fleet) and on PVP servers you will have your world pvp.

Actually, you are wrong. Anything that is a manufactured scenario is NOT open world PvP. It's a manufactured setting and scenario. The term "Open" in this case means there are no real restrictions or obtainable goals. In Ilum, there are, therefore it is not "Open World."
