Mognoose
So, I don't want to redo gathering skills that I have on other characters, so I have started to plan out what I will have on each one. But I have a few questions -Are there any downsides to having gathering skills on a different character to the one who is crafting? Eg BOP crafting mats -Are the BOP items from crafting good enough to make sure I have certain crafting skills on certain characters? -Does this skill plan look ok (aside from the fact that warriors get crit in synthweaving. I have already leveled synthweaving on my sorc, and really don't care enough about that extra crit to go back and relearn something else.) I was thinking something like this (I put gathering skills in capitals): Inquisitor - Synthweaving, ARCHEOLOGY, UNDERWORLD TRADING Warrior - Artifice, TREASURE HUNTING, INVESTIGATION Bounty Hunter - Armstech, Cybertech, SLICING Agent - Armormech, SCAVENGING, SLICING
essell
I've done something like this playing with the Mrs. One us takes a Gathering skill we both need, so the other can take slicing and fund the missions. It works fairly well but be prepared to spend a lot of time gathering to get enough resources for more than one crafting skill to burn through. I keep the game open while I'm at work to get extra crew missions done and keep up with demand!
Stormkitten
Bounty Hunter - Armstech, Cybertech, SLICING Unfortunately you can't do this bit, you're only allowed one of Armstech and Cybertech on one character. In general though, it works, but you'll find that you run out of gathered materials pretty fast (as the poster above said).
Mognoose
Oh my bad. Is that crafting skills in general? Like only one crafting skill per character?
AsheraII
Oh my bad. Is that crafting skills in general? Like only one crafting skill per character? Yes, and this only applies to the crafting skills. You might also want to look up where the crit/efficiency bonusses for all the companions lay, if you want to find the most advantageous combinations. Demorgoth
Biotech is currently the best/only skill with decent BoP items or skill requirements. Even post-nerf, it's the only skill that benefits an individual character. Cybertech can make personal speeders, but they offer nothing extra over the storebought ones other than cosmetically. Armstech (and Armortech presumably?) can make items using BoP drops from hard FPs, but the items themselves are tradable. Gathering skills will get you additional mats while you're levelling up, with scavenging the most in demand (arms, armor and cyber all use scavenging materials). Check your current and future companions and plan your skills around which characters get comapnions with which crew skill bonuses
