Lower Or Eliminate Your Expectations

I think in order for us to stay sane we need to remember a couple things. A lot of the complaints come from old WoW players. That is where most of my expectations came from, along with the other MMOs I have played. Mostly WoW because I played it the longest and have become used to how it played

This is not World of Warcraft. This game will never be as good as World of Warcraft.

This is not Blizzard. Bioware is completely inexperienced when it comes to MMOs. They cannot possibly produce a better product than Blizzard.

We need to think about Bioware's timetable and what they can do. Get rid of any thoughts about WoW or Guild Wars or Everquest 2. It's not going to do any good to go but but that other game has it.

Think about it. Flame me if you want, frankly I might have done the same. THANKS ALL!

Nah, I won't lower my expectations for nothing.

I expected a quality product from the start with timely fixes, and a vocal company to it's consumers.

What we got was a lying, feedback ignoring company.

They are planning and have content prepared for well into 2012 and 2013 but they can't fix the bugs that have been around since early beta? What about the 'non bugs' such as ability lag that we have been 'complaining' about for a year.

People can see what they want as a success. All I see is more and more failure. I hope SWTOR can succeed but I feel like I won't be around. I wanted a 'next-gen' mmo and all I got was a last gen mmo with voice overs and bugs. Good story, but stories only last so long.

dont expect the car you buy to work, its not like millions of other cars have been made in the past.

This game works for the most part. It just does not work the way you want it too ^^

You bought a used Civic and are complaining about the sounds it makes and all the cosmetic problems. Car still runs and gets you to work.

oh wait that does not make sense..umm..new civic=sounds and cosmetic problems..well..oh well.

For ever bug presented in this game, i can point out 10 (worse) bugs in WoW at the Cataclysm launch. I could point out 20 for LK and TBC, and we wont even discuss Vanilla launch and the 33 days of free playtime i racked up in the first 3 months because the game was so awful.

Posts like yours only serve to show how totally ignorant the average consumer is about how difficult it is to track down bugs, especially when most people arent experiencing them, and try to fix them without further breaking things for everyone else.

Posts like yours remind me how rose-colored the average persons glasses are. Your memory of how awesome WoW was has little bearing on reality.

If I bought a new Civic and it did that I'd feel justified yelling at the dealership until it was fixed and I got what I paid for.

That would actually be fine for me if BW lowered their subscription fee, but at 15 bucks a month that tells me they think they are up to par.

Ok here is the correct analogy. you bought a new civic without...airbags. but you knew this, because frankly airbags are not required. but when you bought it you knew you would be paying monthy for those airbags to be installed someday. there ya go go.

You've got a point, one really shouldn't expect BW to make a shimmersilk purse from a bantha's ear.

The best thing to do is probably to unsub and try again later after they've had time to fix everything, and judge it then. I'm sure it'll be awesome in six months.

Or more.

Just single player and multiplayer RPGs. Apparantly battle.net and all the RPG experience they accumilated over however many years was enough.

Apparantly Bioware is just not that company...

edit: but they could be!

I played WoW before and was a very long time as well.

Tried this game, seems like it so far. Very fun story lines, and will eager to play all classes for their story line. This feeling never came up with WoW alts... i dont feel like lving a alt at all because the story line is the same same.

The only thing that bug/worry me is about the fps problem, as well as the end game content. I hope bioware has their balls to get it right and update as often as possible to keep the end game content large enough.

That was the problem with SWG, most unsubbed to give it time to iron out the quirks and never went back.

Counter to just about every complaint post out there that expounds endless and incorrectly about how great WoW was/is, it seems that almost no one has ever played a game like this before.

There will be bugs, there will be issues. So far, it seems that BW is at least aware and working towards fixing them. If you want to quit and make an elaborate whine post to justify it, go right ahead. You will just be all ticked off and self righteously quitting the next game...and the next game...and the next game as well if you are unable to come to terms with that fact that there will be issues. I want to see bugs fixed and I would like to see content added, but I don't expect it to be done immediately because that is simply not possible.

I have high expectations for the game, and so far, it has met my expectations with very few exceptions. To those complaining, you either have unrealistic expectations or wish that you were playing a different game.

None of that has any basis in reality whatsoever. Blizzard may be known for a lot of negative things, but shipping unfinished products is NOT one of them. Those free time days were because of extended maintenance delays, not because of a buggy game.

Please don't try to reinvent the past.

Also it doesn't go over 50 mph and the doors keep falling off.

QFT.

A lot of people on these forums don't remember how bad Warcraft was when it was released. Servers crashing nightly; crafting was a nightmare (most recipes required purple items from raids); except for MC, there was no end game for 6 months. Not to mention the Horde wasn't even finished. Half the Horde quests and zones were not in the game at launch. Which of course, caused a huge population imbalance. On Proudmoore, there were more paladins then Horde for like the first year of the game. And many bugs. Many. One I remember well, was falling through the earth while riding the Zep. Another was crashing while mining. On and on. And they got fixed.

EVERY game, MMO or otherwise has bugs and missing parts. Hell, look at Skyrim.

Wait. If you got issues with the game then stop playing. Come back in 6 months and take a look. But don't try and spoil my fun.

In hindsight, WOW was horrible at launch and for the first 4-6 months after launch. But I was so used to crappy MMO experiences like SWG that WOW seemed perfectly playable by comparison.

Once again, lots of rose colored glasses and misplaced nostalgia going on.
