We are not ready...

See Bioware its not that hard to say...Here lets say it together "We are not ready" for game launch.

I would like to challenge everyone that accepts that fact thats its ok that MMO's are released buggy and with incomplete content. This is not 2000, this is 2012 the MMO community and developers have had time to mature and all have have seen a bad and good MMO launch, most of them at this point have worked on multiple MMO titles. And we as players/consumers should not accept that its ok for company's to release a incomplete product to us.

If your Tax software had this many bugs or was missing important section of tax code, if Windows 8 is released as buggy as this, you would scream bloody murder and try to sue the hell out of the company that released it or demand a refund.

So I ask why do you accept this meritocracy from Bioware/EA a publisher/developer that has released many A list titles.

They knew this game had many game breaking bugs, yet they still released it. You had class quest/story line arcs that could not be completed...arguably that major selling point of this game. End game content is a joke and is in shambles. PVP is horrid compared to other A list titles.

A unresponsive UI that you cannot modify with ability delay that gets so bad sometimes you are forced to reset the whole thing or relog.

I ask again, why do you players/consumers accept that its ok for Bioware/EA to sell you a incomplete game?

EA are the ones who paid for the game.

They are the ones who picked a release time.

the developers(bioware), pick when they release content after that.

Its the same with WoW. Blizzard(more or less), answers to activision. Notice how their expansions are always more rushed then their patches?

Because we aren't spoiled little *****es who expect everything to be perfect. Nothing is perfect, especially MMOs. No one is going to change this because its only going to get more and more complicated and harder to find all the bugs. It cannot be changed. It will never change.

Cuz we'd complain just as hard if we didn't get it when we wanted it ;)

One reason I don't complain about MMOs being released with bugs (albeit I don't think it's a good thing) is because it's an evolving game that many people will play for a long time, maybe years.

Other A-list games, console games and single-player and the like, don't get played as much as MMOs. Some people might run through it multiple times, but a lot of people also just play it once and they're done. So they try to make it as polished as possible so that people will like it from the start.

MMOs on the other hand not only have to worry about making the game playable from release, but they also have to worry about additional content they'll be releasing in the future. I wouldn't doubt that when a game is released, companies are already at work on expansions. I don't like bugs any more than the next guy, but if you hold out long enough you may see them get wiped out.

I know that's probably not the best argument. I'll repeat: I don't think it's okay to release buggy games. I'll accept it from an MMO though, since they are one of the greatest undertakings in the gaming industry.

I guess it's a matter of lowering your standards and stop expecting everything to be perfect/up to par with what you want. If you want to use WoW as an example, seeing as it's a polished game mechanically (er...I think?) you gotta keep in mind that Blizzard has had 7 years to work on it.

/scream

Vivendi vivendi for the love of god.. *cries*

Vivendi used to own blizzard then it took over activision.. and now its stock holder for 52%.. meaning nothing changed. This error has been made so many times i seriously want to pull my hairs out because of it.

The deal closed on July 9, 2008, and the total transaction was an estimated $18.9 billion.[7] Vivendi was the majority shareholder, with a 52% stake in the company.[7] The rest of the shares were held by institutional and private investors and continue to be traded on the NASDAQ stock market, for the first 10 trading days post closing as ATVID, and subsequently as ATVI. Jean-Bernard Levy will replace René *****son as chairman of Activision Blizzard.[8]

Meaning they both answer to Vivendi activision and blizzard.. /sigh /rant

It will never change with a attitude like that. Why must you accept a product that isnt finished.

I think the answer is pretty easy...I accept it because a project of this scale and complexity where you have millions of different players doing different things with different set ups...it is impossible to actually work out every detail and error or every possible outcome for every decision made.

You have to run it live at some point, and some things you thought to be minor will reveal themselves to be bigger issues, some will just be symptoms of underlying issues...but the point is with a project this huge...you have to expect flaws and bugs. It comes with the territory. Even in 2012 we dont have a formula for perfection, just like we didnt in 2000.

I never said anyone else sells incomplete games, I asked why are you accepting it from BW/EA

You obviously bought the game (remember this thread where you talk about how broken the crafting systems are? http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=181099&highlight=apachefxx) so you got just as "suckered" as us "idiots" who buy incomplete games.

I don't see how your argument makes any sense. You must think it's ok for Bioware/EA to sell an incomplete game if your bought it.

If anyone thinks this launch was worse than most, they either have very short memories or are wearing rose colored glasses.

I never said the launch was bad, actually it was rather enjoyable. But that fact remain that game was incomplete and not ready for launch.

Even though I am not a huge fan of Rift, but I think it had one of the best launch I have seen in my entire life. They patched things on daily basis. Within a month the game had most of the annoying bugs out of the way. No MMO has EVER done that and I don't there will be any. Rift is good with two things: Reaching out to its players and staying on top of the updates/patches. No one can beat them in those two.

Because I don't expect the impossible. BioWare can't possibly know every single little detail that goes on in their program. They know what its supposed to do, but for some reason or another some stupid **** can go on in certain hardware that ****s up what its supposed to leading to bugs. Imagine if you had a clock that had 50 *********** million little mechanisms and you had to have them all work perfectly and everyone expects you to do it in a timely manner. Except they don't give you enough time, they expect you to do it in a couple of years when it would take your entire life just to fix every little issue.

Millions? I LOL'd We need to wait at least 3 more months to find that out.

If you're mad that MMO's and games in general get launched in incomplete and buggy states, then go hunt down the stock holders that force gargantuan publishers to force developers to release games before they're ready, and have a chat with them.

So you think im calling you a Idiot because Im asking a direct question? *boggle*

Yes I do remember that thread and I stand by everything I posted in it.

Yes I will admit I got sucked into it as much as everyone else. And Im taking my own actions on that based on my opinions.

But you still haven't answered the original question have you.
