Stonedsoul
Yes, one of THOSE. If it pisses you off, don't feel obligated to read/respond. I am sad. Sad to see SWTOR go... I had waited in anticipation for months for this game, I got myself a new computer, took time off for release, etc etc. Too much expectation? Maybe. But there it is: Im a die-hard KOTOR fan, an inconditional star-wars nerd, and a desperate MMO addict. I wanted SWTOR, and I wanted it bad... The problem? Its a taunt. It is everything one could wish for. It is beautifull, has very interesting classes, an amazing storyline based leveling experience, plenty of level 50 content (for a launch), etc etc. But all that is ruined by one single thing: unfluid combat. Each of us has our own experience with it. For some it is awsome. For others there is problem when chaining spells, or with specific situations. For me it was the lag. .5-1sec before key stroke registeres... it makes you feel like you are playing at 1k ping, but it tells you that you are at 50 ms. Its frustrating to such an extreme that everything BW has done right with this game (which is a lot of it) is destroyed by this single issue. And I unsubbed. So here is my advice: Learn from the past. As a history teacher, I get to spend my days watching people making mistakes that have been made again and again before... its a whole other kind of frustrating. The market is not what it was before wow. It is not patient. It is not forgiving. Adapt. Instead of pushing for release dates, push for a kickass game. Take a bit of a lesson from Arenanet. From their own site (GW2): When is Guild Wars 2 going to be released? When it's finished. Guild Wars 2 is the largest project ArenaNet® has ever undertaken, and we want to make sure we take the time to do it right. When will there be a beta? We began closed beta in December of 2011. The feedback from these tests will determine when we will do public beta tests and ship the game. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it. THIS is what your mentality should have been from the beggining. THIS is how you'll pierce the MMO monopoly established by blizzard. Not by releasing unfinished/broken games right before christmas. Hope to see you again in the future (aka hope you fix ability delay, because I will resub in a blink when you do). Stonedsoul. Stonedsoul
"Cleverly" hidden GW2 advertisement. Actually I have never played GW, and this was the very first time I was even taking a look at GW2, which I know nothing about. But guess what: when I read that on their faq, all I could think of was "Why couldnt BW do that with SWTOR? Why couldnt they try their damnest to release the game in as polished a condition as possible, instead of rushing to make the xmas sale lists?"
