yGore
I would like to share my overall view of TOR. 1. Story Brilliant. Bioware did awesome job on this part and class stories and quests are really great. Voiceover is doing miracles and I have really enjoyed plaing this Mass Effect 3/4. 2. Questing and leveling Thanks to voiceover and well designed maps is leveling great experience and I have no objection there. 3. Pre-endgame flashpoints. Nothing special about them but they are fun and not as bugged as endgame content. Nice part of leveling. 5. Game world. Here comes one of the problems. I feel no connection with game world. I really love how story connected me with my character and companions - nothing like that ever happend to me in WoW. But like I said - otherwise there is no connection. Its really hard to explain this. I will try it with example - I am always glad to return to Elwynn forest or walk through old town of Stormwind or misty, freezing forest of Duskwood. Maybe these feelings will come with time but probably not because only place I was in since I hit lvl 50 was imperial fleet and my ship + some PvE/PvP content. In other words - ATMOSPHERE IN THIS GAME SUCKS. Suggestions: Make game world more interactive - so I can sit by a table or read a book. Planets should be larger in size and level range (much much larger). Make transition between planets even faster - so I can jump directly from planet to my ship. Now I have to go through spaceport-spacestation-airlock 1 -airlock 2 ... airlock n - ship and that is annoying. 6. Endgame PvE. Not bad except for some bugs (more on that later). Operations are challenging fun. (DO NOT NERF THEM) 7. Endgame PvP. Ok this is real problem. I am no hardcore PvPer but TOR is really tragic from this point of view. Voiceover is extremely (EXTREMELY) annyoing. Listening that HUTTS DONT HAVE *********** FEET again and again is making me crazy. Only three small warzones with no arena system and world PvP that is not working is NOT ENOUGH for a game of this size and potential. Servers are unbalanced and I keep playing that idiotic ****ball. As a healer i dont have any medals - I once stayed alive for whole warzone and yet I got no medal for that - In pve I can heal for 5k with no problem, in PvP its impossible. Suggestions: Make voiceover of warzones much much more varied - you have recorded thousands and thousands of lines for quests that we will hear once and never again and yet you failed to record more than 100 lines of text for warzones that we hear every day. Give us atleast two more warzones. Give us chance to choose which warzone we want to play and make open world pvp as accesible as are warzones. In all warzones should be possible to play in mixed teams. Remake medals. 8. Crafting. Useless. I reengineered 8 blue implants and all I got was recipe for useless implat with AIM and PRESENCE on it. 9. Bugs. I am not going to go over all the bugs I encountered during gameplay. Game of this size, not long after release is bound to have lots of them and I am OK with that. I am actually surprisingly pleased with their number and only real problem are rewards. PvP dailies dont count won games and loot from bosses (espscially chests) are bugged in massive scale. REPAIR THAT ASAP. Otherwise you will lose players. A lot of them. 10. Other suggestions. Make GTN GUI more useful (so I can search by every and any parameter given (name, rarity and so on..)) Give us pazaak and speeder races. WE NEED ADDONS, COMBAT LOG, RESCALABLE GUI. LFG system would be great. I know that all of this needs time - give us some signal that you are working on it (friday updates with stuff like that would be great). I have many more suggestions, but I dont have time to write them down. Maybe later. 11. Grand finale. Overall this game is great fun as a singleplayer. Endgame is so far really bad. I give you one more month. After that I am going to play Diablo 3 and never look back. And I won't be alone. This might sound really weird, but every mistake that Blizzard made in WoW made that world more magical and addictive. You have not made those mistakes (I can see it in every corner of the game) and world of TOR lost its magic. You still have a chance to correct this and make TOR profitable but your chances are dwindling with every unlootable chest. Thank you for reading. Renny, Mercenary, Frostclaw server. P.S. And yes I am really annoyed with this *********** censorship. I like to enjoy my profanities in their full beauty - thats why I write them. supertouch
i agree that the environment needs to be more interactive (you can't even attack npcs) but i disagree that zones should be bigger. the worlds are so big and there are so few people on each planet that you don't run into very many people as it is. AlphaBraddox
BW needs more mistakes!!!! Kidding aside it would be great if the environment was more interactive. Currently the World environments do have a degree of interaction as seen with small skirmishes, large blaster firing at enemy craft, explosions here and there, and cool thing is seeing enemy Commandos repelling out of aircraft (well done there) as you pass by. The foundation is there but its the little things that need work. Few ideas are adding more automatic doors when going thru elevators or large doors with green or red accents/light for accessible instances instead of just large green or red light walls, cantina chairs we can actually sit on, and last but not least environmental damage during fights would be huge!!! Coiffio
Story elements are not bad, but the gameplay needs tightening. i dunno if this happens to other classes but there seems to be some sort of bug concerning certain abilities activating. With my sith juggernautm certain melee moves won't fire when activated, or they will begin to activate, and the animation starts, then nothing.. Gameworlds look pretty good but as was pointed out,t hey feel dead, you can't do anything on them besides go from point A to B and there is no incentive really to come back once you leave (unless a mission specifically tells you to) While it's nice that area instancing keeps places from being too crowded, it also makes the gameworld feel really empty. Tattoine was too expansive and empty and I felt the drowsiness kicking in just riding my speeder to missions. Story is the game's strong suit, but it really needs to improve in other areas. I'm subbed up for 6 months so we will see how things go.
lycrates
so you played D3? and you know it will be a great game?? and blizzards made mistakes made the game better??? are you smoking something if you dont like the game leave, dont come back you will not be missed I think you can be certain at this point that D3 will be a good game. It might or might not be a masterpiece, but the Diablo series has been AMAZING at worse and Blizzard would have to try really hard to mess it up. Also, up to now at least, Blizzard has never released a game that really sucked or that was just average. If you are wondering why Blizzard is so successful, it is because even though they do mistake after mistake, they listen to their funbase and fix stuff. In all honestly, I dont believe Blizzard would EVER release a half-finished title like SWTOR. Edited January 17, 2012 by lycrates

So yeah, a lot of things broke down because it was exposed to a lot of stress. In the end though, people stuck around because the basic gameplay was good and the world drew you in with all the small details here and there. BW obviously expected more than 2 mill. players after a month and the game shows it since it doesn't break down from stress all the time. However, I think it will have problems retaining that number since the basic gameplay is lacking and was clearly underdeveloped compared to the cutscenes and the voice acting. By 2012 standards, yes, it was messy...but so was EVERY SINGLE GAME released in that time period. In context, WoW was a masterpiece when it was released, and their #'s today show for it. First impressions make or break these games, and EA rushing the game out doomed this game before the release date even rolled around. FACT FACT FACT FACT FACT Do NOT let these companies continue to get away with this, fanboi's, and maybe JUST MAYBE we wont get a rushed overhyped piece of garbage next time someone uses the Star Wars IP.
