have yet to reach end game however i hear from my guild and other people that the mechanics of ilum make it a rather dead place. by which i mean there is little incentive to attack the opposite faction...is this true? if that is the case that sucks, and bioware (mythic) need to sort it out.

Illum is still a rather new thing for players to true. Bioware are still also balancing things here and there. But most importantly there are still a huge number of players that aren't level 50 yet. As weeks go by more and more people will hit 50 and more will go to Illum.

Ilum is the social hub where Republic and Empire finally get to work together to achieve common goals.....

haha so true.. But honestly, wouldnt wanna be in a major battle there.. got pretty bad with just around 25ish players there at once.

That is, unfortunately, the case. (At least it is on my server).

The problem is that there are SO few Republic. There often aren't enough of them around to get your daily Ilum quest done.

What ends up resulting from this is that the two sides basically "Trade" quest objectives back and forth.

No one attacks the other side because it seems that once you kill anyone on the Republic side, they just leave...And then you CAN'T complete your daily.

The addition of requirements for the daily quests will NOT fix this problem. It will make things worse.

Empire outnumber Republic. The two sides will fight. Republic will get stomped too often. It won't be fun for them. Therefore, they'll stop bothering with it (Much like what became of Wintergrasp). Horde always won, so Alliance stopped Q'ing.

What needed to be done here was to add incentive for players to WANT to PVP on Ilum...Not simply adding it as a requirement for the daily.

At best, people will do what they need to finish the daily and then fleetpass out to get their bag.

It would have been a more prudent measure for BW to simply say to all Empire players, "You guys can't have your champ bags for Ilum quests anymore. Go reroll Republic".

but i hear these is little reason to actually attack the opposite faction...

Right, that is because we work TOGETHER to achieve the goals. When they put in incentive to shoot the other faction? There may be more shooting. But so far as I can tell there are goals to be achieved and you need people of both factions there to do them. If you shoot the other faction? Then you can't achieve your daily/weekly goals.

Shooting people who are trying to help you only irritates other people on your team. Please don't irritate your team

*should also note that I would prefer the goals be 'stop the other team from taking a control point' instead of 'gain a control point', this would make pvp more viable in ilum. But there would still be kill trading. Basically for those of you used to SWG? Ilum is the new fight club, and you aren't supposed to talk about it.... oops

Ilum will be a wasteland unless they do something about the numbers. Every time I go to Ilum, we have 10-20 republic tops. When I try to do my dailys I sometiems see 10-20 empire in one spot. Republic will just avoid the planet because the numbers are just not fun.

Ilum is stupid. Anyone whoever thought it would be anything but stupid... is stupid.

Giant animated tanks get dropped from the sky. They stand there doing their animations, but not actually DOING anything... oooh! how impressive!.... you click on them, they explode.... after some lag.

If there is someone out there with a title of "lead PvP designer for SWtoR" - that person should look for a new job.

Yeah.

Cuz the real problem here is that people are 'cheating' the system... not that it's horribly designed and completely un-fun.

^Exactly.

Even if it just gave normal PVP comms and valor, people would spam it all day long if it were actually FUN.

There's zero incentive outside of purple bags for anyone to bother with it.

Adding required kills to the same crappy planet/feature/system will only do one thing...

Cause Republic to simply avoid the planet all together.

Yeah...That's a winning situation. Brilliant idea, that is.

Cheers, BW...You're officially turning a long-time "Fanboi" into a "Hater" with this crap.

This here. I didn't even have to read anything to know that Bioware would change the PvP dailies on Ilum =( I'm doing it as often as I can before it gets "fixed".

red is dead and thats how it should be,, striking up a conversation with the other side and having a casual chat thats not vile and filled with insults should be a reportable offense. matter of fact you should be allowed to attack your own faction on Ilum to put a stop to this madness.

Outlaw's Den. I'd rather fight over the mercenary commendations anyway.

^That.

Outlaw's Den will be my new home after this patch. Doubt I'll even bother with the Ilum daily/weekly since the planet will likely be void of all Republic life forms.

Might as well put an Empire symbol over it in the galaxy map and disallow Republic from traveling there.

Maybe have a cute little message pop up in the dashboard of your ship like in the newer Camaros that says "Shift Denied".
