Stoneborg
Legacy name Change because of a mistake or because it didn't print like you thought it was, for example de Cobblerock click except Decobblerock. In this case should have a preview to show you what your getting. Also to also have different names for factions. I don't think Bio-ware thought this out completely many players are unhappy with this. help us voice to them.
acheros
Most of the players who are unhappy with it, are unhappy because THEY can't read. You're told a surname is permanent. its not their fault you didn't read it and put "lawlz" as your name.
Sotof
Contact the in game support and ask them to change it. I honestly do not think this should change, it is a valuable lesson to everyone that does not read instructions.
Chorizo
While the need for the ability to change legacy names may or may not be there - I think its pretty safe to say that for anything permanent like this, with no ability to redo it, should have some fail safes in place. If you enter "McDonald" you're going to get Mcdonald. You may or may not know this. Something that says "only the first letter may be capitalized" would be beneficial. Then a prompt asking if you are sure this is the name you want would help alleviate a LOT of the problems we're seeing regarding this on the forums. While I had no problems with my legacy name, I can see the benefit of changing it. If you mess up on a character name, you can delete the character. If you mess up on the legacy name... there's nothing you can do. Even if it was some exorbitant price like a million credits for the first change that doubles every time, it would be better than nothing.
Darth_Vampirius
If you make an Irish-themed character with a name like "McCormick", the name displays as "McCormick" as you type it, but when it is applied to your character, it displays as "Mccormick." There are many players of RP servers who decide to grief players in ways that only a lewd or inapropriate surname can provide. I won't mention some of the names, but they need to go! For these two reasons, Legacy name changing capabilities do need to exist in the game.

Lewd or offensive names are reportable and they FORCE a change. That is possible.
