Notice that the "bot" says they are responding to your "Exploitation Querie" ... Some people love to gloss over the details.......

Last time I checked, typical farming was not considered exploitative.

WOW! the fanboyism has been taken to an all new low.

Claiming something is a fake/photoshopped picture just to protect the "integrity" of this disappointing game.

Excuse me while I go puke.

Whatever. Call it what you want, but if this is true (not that the image is real, but if it is normal context, AND the CS rep is even RIGHT) then I will cut off any limb of your choosing.

You don't even take in to account that this rep is probably getting paid $5/hr in a foreign country to type responses to a gaming genre they don't know anything about.

If this particular message isn't for real, then the overall rule is. With certain caveats.

The short of it is: Farming in a way that doesn't fit within how the game is intended to be played isn't allowed.

What doesn't fit within how the game is intended to be played? The only example that has been brought forward is going to Ilum at level 11 and camping lv50 chests 24/7.

Overall probably if doing a particular very specific thing gives you 10x the rewards of anyone else at your level then it's not within the game design.

Going to Ilum at level 11 in itself obviously is within the game design, because it's very consciously allowed. You had to go to a specific place on Ilum to do this. You weren't banned for farming lv50 chests at level 50, hence that's within the intended game design, and you weren't banned for opening a lv50 chests at lv11, hence that's also within the intended game design.

Don't cry because this is something new in MMORPGs either - standing a place a mob can't hit you has been cause for disciplinary action since WoW.

Dude. NO ONE would accuse me of being a fanboy, and I think that's photoshopped. Bioware writes at above a 4th grade level.

I think I'm more disturbed that there are actually people who open support tickets for some of the stuff that was on that list. No wonder they're bogged down.

that's what I was going to say. I that's the typ of tickets are creating, no wonder many don't get responses. I wouldn't respond to that crap either. I have made gunuine ticket, got a nice kind response to my issue.

Re-read the ending of CS ticket.

Now read the top, where it says this was an "exploitation query."

There's a lot missing here that whoever took that screen shot has chosen not to show anyone.

"Farming" can mean a lot of things, but as far as I know, nobody who farms in the typical sense has been banned, or will be banned. Bioware's been pretty clear about that, and frankly, I'll take the word of the people who've said that to us directly over the grammatically-challenged, ambiguous response of a CS rep to a question we don't even know any day.

"Farming" could mean going out and beating on a bunch of mobs. Perfectly legal, I'm sure. It could mean running a chest spawnpoint circuit. Also, no doubt, perfectly legal. It could also mean gathering up credits and items with the intent to sell them, which is obvious not so legal.

Yes, the response is badly-worded. That's nothing new in CS. The guys who do it for the company I work at make me cringe sometimes. But is it saying anyone who farms, in any form, will be banned? No, it definitely does not say that. In fact, it seems pretty clear to me that the person who asked the question seemed to think he was about to do something that might be considered exploitation.

And why is that? Apparently, the bad grammar seems to be the culprit here. But I, much like many other examples that have been presented on this board, have seen 1st hand the foreigners attempt to answer questions in english, but it's very clear english is not their 1st language.

I guess that's what happens when you'd rather pay people pennies on the dollar instead of employing americans who can best handle other americans.

I've seen a level 14 standing right next to a chest near the depleted white Adegan crystal on Ilum (speaking of whom, I killed him twice and looted the chest with my 50). They should be ejecting people like that who are farming chests, etc.

I could buy that if it wasn't an automated response that he received. Those things aren't written by some CSR in India.

Come on guys, this is so obviously NOT REAL. It reads like one of those Phishing scams.

"If you were reported to do such actions, you will receive a warning..."

Right and "All your base are belong to us"

I think Bioware can speak English just fine. They're located in Austin Texas. This is phoney.

It amazing how you people continue to defend bioware.

His response to farming is hilarious.

If you farm, you will get banned.

Amazing ain't it.

So what was the question about? Uh? Well? Notice the phrase "Exploitation Querie". Do you know what context is? I don't defend any company. I only point out logical inconsistencies and childish behavior.

sure, bioware can speak english, and all the top employees can. But when it comes to the dirty work, american companies usually employ people from different countries so they don't have to pay american wages. It makes me sick to my stomach. I could do a MUCH better job than these foreigners.

If the picture was posted on a different thread, what is the value of posting it (at least) a second time? Also, only a moron would formulate an opinion without knowing, as is the case with this thread, the context the picture and ticket derived.

Give up.... the haters like to hate its the only thing that keeps them going, so anything said or shown to them that helps them to hate must be gospel....

I found it on a different Forum, not on a different thread. I posted here to discuss because this is the official SWTOR forum.

Allow only level 50 players on Ilum, problem solved. There should be no reason at all why any lower level character should be on Ilum, none.

The planet should be "unlocked" as soon as hit level 50 just like hard mode FP.

Actually, if you just put an elite next to the chest like they are on most planets the problem would be solved. Even a non-elite would stop this lvl 12 goes to Ilum exploit.

I'm just curious, how do they get there? Can you ride in other people's ships?

Sorry about getting off-topic but I really want to know how they get there in the first place.
