HexHammer
Grrr! I'm very annoyed with myself, that I sit and cancel the conversation over and over, to get the highest amount of affection points. Please allow us to see the gain/loss of compaion affection, so we won't waste our time with this piontless cancelation.
Laeris
or you could just give your companions the right gifts and get 200-300 points per gift. *shrug* Who cares about 20 points... it would take you an entire planet to get the same standing it takes just 2 gift clicks to get. Rorcus
You could just live with the consequence of saying the wrong thing and bribe her later with gifts (kinda like real life ) Edited January 16, 2012 by Rorcus

hulduet
Yeah, been saying this since before launch. Why show alignment but not conversations? It's not fun going through the same conversation 10+ times just to try befriend your companion.
hulduet
You could just live with the consequence of saying the wrong thing and bribe her later with gifts (kinda like real life ) Then why do they show light/dark choices in the conversation, makes no sense. I wouldn't have said a word if that wasn't shown but it is.
flipper
No, fix ds/ls/affection gain/subtraction in place so, if you escape, the choices you make the second time around don't change anything up until the last point of conversation. What's the point of the R in RPG if your choices can be reversed and you're only making the choice because of what you know is the outcome. But in turn fix the answers so they're more representative of what your character is going to say and where needed add the tone in brackets to help aid us in the choice. Taelin
At higher lvl you can get 40-102 points per right choise in conversations. My record rep gains: Conversation: Single choice: 327, Total gain from ONE conversation: 694 (Final two romance conversations with Ashara) Gift: 459 (Level 5 purple courting gift) Edited January 16, 2012 by Taelin
Zannis
I did this at first. Trying out every option to max out my companions. Then I realized I was making a ton of money off slicing, and would easily be able to afford gifts after I buy my big ticket money-sinks. Since then, I've simply stuck with my first choice in a conversation and couldn't be happier. You're playing this game for yourself, not your companion. rhirne
I'm not sure how this would help because every companion is different, so they would have to program in those choice points for every companion that can do the quest, and I can see that going over well... No buggy points showing for incorrect companions in the conversations... Not to mention, I already know when I'm going to Gain / Lose points with my companion by the response I choose. The codex tells you EXACTLY their likes and dislikes. For Instance: I know using force persuade will ALWAYS lose points with Qyzen. I know Theran dislikes when I help someone when the quest involes a dangerous section. I know that Qyzen will always gain effection in a response that is worthy of a Hunter. I know I always get points in an answer to help a pretty woman or something related to science. It should be pretty easy to know what answers will yeild what results. DarthKhaos
Then why do they show light/dark choices in the conversation, makes no sense. I wouldn't have said a word if that wasn't shown but it is. Because I can't give myself a toy and gain light/dark side points.

DarkwingGT
For the most part it's not a big deal. However I know at least one mission in particular could either gain or lose about 729 affection with Lord Scourge based on my responses. That sort of gain/loss is simply too big to not "game" the responses.

Couldn't agree more, if you want to get affection with your companions, at least try to know what they like/dislike, and be aware of what you are saying in the conversations... "spacebar spacebar 1 spacebar spacebar spacebar 1" isnt alwais as good as it seems ...

DarthKhaos
^ Nothing stops you from doing missions that grant you those. That requires you to have taken Diplomacy for a crew skill. Anyone can get gifts for their companions without losing out on anything. and most of the time you lose 1 point of affection. You REALLY got to screw up to lose 30.
