My thoughts on SWTOR

Let me start by saying I want to enjoy this game, I really really do. I also understand it is in it's infancy and needs time to grow, but below are my list of things I find bothersome or enjoyable with this game in it's current state. No I'm not going to cancel my sub anytime soon, and no I'm not going to rage quit and play wow. Please don't turn this into a flame fest, I just want to post my opinions and see if others are having the same issues I am or not.

 

Inc Wall of Text - TL-DR

 

The Good

 

Story - The story line in enjoyable and well written.

 

Voice Acting - I see all of BW's budget went to this little gem, and it's pretty good for the first half an hour, than you eventually have to log off vent or space bar everything.

Area Loot - Yes Please

 

Bonus Quests - Good idea, and makes gameplay more enjoyable.

 

Sound - Combat sounds are top notch, ambient music is terrible.

 

The Bad

 

Ability Delay - I find this to be the number one problem for me, and most directly correlates with my lack of enjoyment for this game.

 

Non Linear World - I know this one is a matter of opinion, but I feel absolutely no sense of exploration in this game. Everything seems way to guided and closed off.

 

GTN / Economy - The current GTN is a horrible design. Please allow players to search by name. Also, do not require a category drop down menu. Allow searching for item slots, not just armor type.

 

Dead Worlds - This game currently has no feeling of an MMO to me. I understand it's sharded or instanced currently, but everything about this game feels dead to me. NPC's have no interaction. Enemy NPCs are standing around waiting ot be killed, not talking to each other/interacting with each other. I can go almost an entire night without seeing another player.

Races - All races are currently just reskinned of the same model. In an MMO universe, I find this to be a terrible decision. The essence of an MMO is that everyone wants to feel unique in their group. Everyone wants to be their own little snowflake, I never thought I cared until I tried to create my first character back in beta. Huge disappointment. My toon looks identical to 3 other guys in the guild I lead, just without an Emo haircut.

 

Guild Tab - Needs alot of work, and needs alot of bugs fixed.

 

Guild Bank - Lack there of.

 

Macros - Lack there of.

 

Third Party Addons - Hopefully someday. The current UI is pretty rough.

 

Bugs - I understand any game can, and will have bugs from time to time. However the majority of the bugs I'm seeing (I.E. Dead NPC's still standing) should have been fixed before release.

 

Imperial Fleet - This may seem like an odd one, but the first time I walked into Orgrimmar (OMG WOW FANBOI ****) it was an epic feeling. The first time I walked into the Imperial Fleet, it was...... well..... *** is this?! Oh it's a circle. Not epic, causes no sense of faction pride, and it's a circle.

 

No Day/Night Cycle - Seems stupid, seems silly, but now that I've said it, it will bother you. It has bothered me.

 

Emoticons - Another silly one, but drives me nuts. Have you tried to /sit with your character yet. Who sits like that?! And they just flop to the floor. /Dance is embarrassing to say the least, /clap is a great way to drive everyone crazy at the GTN nuts, oh wait, no one is at the GTN, because it's terrible.

 

Alot of these are stupid little things, that only affect my enjoyment, others like the combat delay are game breaking. Let me know what you guys like/don't like about the game. I'm currently trying to find more reasons to like the game, and enjoy it more.
