saucierlol
And bought the game yesterday. After reading all the negative opinions, positive ones too, the flames too, read a lot on different websites etc. And my opinion was made : I'm not going to buy this game at least until they fix these ability delay and memory leak bugs that I thought, without having tested it, totally game breaking. After discussing with a very convincing friend, who has managed to lead me a lot of times in the worst situations possible, I fell for it once again. So I started yesterday, went to level 8, I know it's not much but I only played like 2 hours. So i can only talk about the gameplay of the combat, for it is the only thing that you can easily test even when you do not have many spells or abilities. Well, my conclusion is : it's pure crap. Really, how can one company like bioware make such a bad combat gameplay, the delay on abilities is the worst thing i've ever seen on a wow-like mmo. Guys wake up ! Only reason wow was so successful was its amazing and totally revolutionnary gameplay in its time, the result of an great graphics engine and a great netcode ! That's one thing I do not understand in the mmo industry right now, that NO ONE in this industry understood in 7 years that you need to have the exact same feel as wow to be successful, in terms of combat gameplay. Look at LOTRO, it's the only mmo that as survived wow stomping machine by giving the player the exact same feel during combat. The word that describes it the most is smoothness. Make an mmo without smoothness in combat, and it's a guaranteed fail. It's going to happen to swtor, in about 1 year the game's going f2p.
Blackweb
What the hell are you talking about? I find the combat twice as engaging as wow's, it's pretty much everything besides the voice-acting/story+combat that I don't like very much. The only problem is in PVP it seems, considering combat. Medicinally
They said they're working on the Ability delay thing. If they fix it I'll resub. This is a good game, don't get me wrong. I just prefer gameplay>story myself.

Something BW has said is an issue. Something like 5 capped threads of people complaining about. If you can't see it don't worry you're simply not at their level of gameplay. I don't mean that in a mean way btw.
DontDenyRy
Thanks for your thorough analysis and prediction on a game you played for 2 hours. ImperialSun
With the official acknowledgement of the combat ability delay and a confirmation that is is being investigated, plus the release notes for tomorrow which should fix a lot of the PvP / Ilum issues...I truly believe this game will mature into a solid and rewarding PvP experience. To the OP I say why not come back in 3 months and check it out again? Driz

If in one year this game goes F2P, big deal! By then, I may be playing a different game anyway. I play games for fun, not for how many people subscribe to them. The system works for me. Set your queue to 0.0. Open your mind. Understand that the CD's in this game are different than WoW. Quit thinking about WoW. Quit comparing everything to WoW. If you can't, go back to WoW. Enjoy your Pandas. Enjoy your Pokemon. Profit.
Turikan
Sorry you feel that way, OP. I honestly haven't experienced anything game breaking that a lot of people seem to find irritating. To be honest, this games combat reminds me of Champions Online more than WoW.

Maybe you should work for some investment company or create one yourself, you can call it "Mr lol's half arsed assessments inc" BTW, 2 hours level 8 on your first toon seems a bit 'fast', on my first character through Korriban I got to 10 in a lot longer than that, considering the dialogs, cutscenes and going around looking for datacrons etc etc

ImperialSun
In what alternate universe? Or you using an alternate definition of the word "revolutionary"? Lol...I've given up even responding to posts that state WoW "did it first" "was groundbreaking at the time" and/or "is the only formula for success" and especially the ones that state "an MMO must include everything WoW has to date in order to be a success" Anyone who was around at the time knows that WoW did none of those things, all it did do was rip off the mechanics from the most successful MMORPGs at the time and dilute them for the COD generation. Alkiii
Everyone, please respond the the WoWians with current WoW bugs. Seems to work great. You know ... after reading all the books and really loving the Deathwing story, I couldn't help but feel they really made his expansion and his boss fight out to be utter crap. Deathwing and Cataclysm were a huge letdown for me. Hence one of the main reasons why I have left WoW, permanently.

Cadiva
Only reason wow was so successful was its amazing and totally revolutionnary gameplay in its time. You lost any credibility with this statement, there was nothing revolutionary about WoW's gameplay, it stole everything it had from pretty much every other MMO out on the market at the time. The reason it was so successful was because Blizzard marketed it well, they targeted it at people who've never played an MMO before and they made it easy to get into and work out what you needed to do.
