LMYoda
This is just terrible design. We can't do good single-target DPS without casting Death Field. But that's impossible to do when there are crowd controlled mobs nearby. And it's impossible to chain the ability. Casting it in boss fights is a hassle. Humus_
Wow, so to get the highest dps possible, we will need to use skill ? Yhea I can see how that is broken All kidding aside, I was a bit surprised when i noticed that deathfield should be included on single targets. But I soon found out that it is not the easiest spell to use for exactly the reasons you mention. So it is oke. So if you want highest dps : work for it ( I'm not sure the 50 force it costs makes it viable for PvE dps rotations, but in PvP and with the right talents it is defenately one of my single target spells

It's just an AoE spell, with all the difficulties all AoE spells have. You need to somehow make mobs you are going to kill first walk out of their initial position. They'll do if: 1. They are melee 2. You break line of sight 3. Your mate uses an abilty to draw mobs in melee
Natarii
You get used to the size of the field pretty fast; you will be able to strategically position it in and around cc'd mobs by knowing JUST where that edge of it will land. It leaves a debuff on it's targets too which increases DoT dmg. Definitely worth using in the single-target rotation, but it does take a little finesse to use safely sometimes. Andyonme
It is just practice. After a while you will have no problem in picking out single targets within a group.
Razacc
it hits hard and buff's dot if spec'd into it. Great ability

It's hardly the difference between "good" dps and "terrible" dps. We lose DF every 15 seconds, which on its own is only about a 60 dps loss, plus 20% damage to the DoT on Crushing Darkness and 2-3 ticks of Affliction. Net total is around 100 DPS loss. Does it hurt? You bet. However, we can still pull solid DPS without it, we just can't maximize DPS.
Frailone
Mine hits nearly as hard as a wrath chain lit... I like it...
evileeyore
Mine hits nearly as hard as a wrath chain lit... I like it... Ditto. Deathfield is one of my burst/spike damagers. In fact it's the spell I most have to follow with Cloud Mind as it easily strips aggro from my Tank buddy.
dwtsweeb
I love having this high damaging ground target ability in pvp, because nobody can LOS it, just cast it on the side of the player and you get a big hit in... I wish more of my spells in my rotation were like that
