Kitsummerisle
Hello, I currently have every PvP item for the Vguard DPS spec. I've currently been using this spec. Spec#1 http://torguild.net/calculator/trooper/vanguard/?p=230122000000000000020312222210230111231000000000000000000 I use Ion Cell with it and gain guard and 5% dmg reduce, while still being able to put out a bout the same dmg, or atleast it feels like the same dmg as if I we're to use this spec. Spec#2 http://torguild.net/calculator/trooper/vanguard/?p=032003000000000000020312221212230110231020000000000000000 However, my only concern is some fights you happen to run into(mainly fights with heals) you will run out of ammo and you're recharge will be on CD also, and you're pretty much just there to get beat on. However I don't think Spec#1 will hold up in an all 50 BG because you'll need that ammo recharge to keep out constant DPS through extented fights. What do you guys think about this? It's hard for me to tell because when I'm using either spec it feels like 95% of the time I'm first on the scoreboard.
BardaTheHobo
The run speed only works with high energy cell, wont work with ion (Battlefield Training) Edited January 16, 2012 by BardaTheHobo
Mordris
Keep in mind the different types of damage. You may be topping the damage charts in either spec, but in SS most of that damage is from aoe. If you are 1v1 against someone with decent gear and/or a healer, the SS spec doesn't put out the burst to power through their mitigation, IMO. SS will be the most beneficial when you have an Op working as a team, but the AS or TS will output more burst damage. Please note this is just a generalization and from sub 50 PvP, which obviously has less tools/expertise than at level 50. I also like your 2nd spec better. You won't need to be switching between cells and can focus on skills that give you better damage and ammo regen. LiamSilverTongue
I am 50 vanguard, full dps and tanking champ specs: Only use DPS gear(this means generators instead of shields for OH) for pvp as the mitigation difference is irrelevant and using my build you take almost the exact same. For Assault in PvP i like this: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801RRhZMsrbRbfkdsZo.1 I have found the following spec to be superior and is the best vanguard pvp spec imo(1 point can go wherever). This spec doesn't do AoE at all unless like 3 guys are bunched up as it simply isnt ammo efficient. In general its storm/ss/gut/HI and a ton of ion pulse/normal shots, Also make sure to liberally use of neural surge/cryo. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801GRG0bRroMZMsrboZb.1 Charts are done by medals, so topping the chart doesnt matter. Look at healing/damage/protection to see what matters. Realistically if you are topping the damage charts as a vanguard(i do this every so often) you have utterly terrible other classes/players in the warzone. Using my spec 1v1 you can kill anyone that isn't a healer(though sorcers will give you a bunch of trouble and if they are played right you will always lose). You will never kill a healer in 1v1(no matter your vanguard spec) if they know what they are doing and are equally geared. Anyone telling you that you can kill a healer in a warzone as a vanguard is straight up lieing as in the VERY BEST situation by the time you could ever get the healer low enough to kill someone else WILL of come, be it on your side so the healer dies, or their side so you die.
