PVP map idea; Actual thought presented

Hello all fellow pvpers,

 

I had an idea for pvp that i wished to share with everyone and outline in detail. I know this post could very well die out and get 10 views but it would be nice to get something other than Huttball when queuing. Now with all MMO's and PVP its often hard to come up with fun engaging maps that both challenging and enjoyable, i was one of the biggest WoW ethusists when it came to PVP. I sat down today and realized WoW hasn't done anything new really for its game. They rehashed old Ideas such as the capture the base Arathi Basin to make the "new" Battle of Gilneas, and the old Warsong Gulch to create the "new" Twin Peaks. Lets face it, its the same old objectives with just new scenery anyone can do that.

 

 

Swtor has an amazing feature built into it's system character development, and character immersion. When you go to a cutscene and see your characters beautiful face and hear them talk you know that is your avatar; I personally want everyone to see my avatar and tell me how ****** they look. Back on to the track of PVP i have an idea for a map that changes with the characters in the map. By characters we all know we have the 8 class make ups or 4 if you mirror them. So i have an idea for one warfront in PVP that changes based on a randomly selected character.

 

 

I thoroughly enjoy the story that SWTOR has created and i think we can use that to make PVP more enjoyable. I personally am sick of looking at the loading screen and hearing "Alright i'll go left you go center..." attitude its mundane and boring to already know what your plan of attack should be. What i am proposing here is a map that when the doors open one single character's avatar appears on everyones screen to determine which map will be played.

 

 

So imagine after buffing up and when the doors open a cutscene plays and its your character changing the gametype and the landscape of the map. For example my character currently is an IA, she would call in for a massive orbital attack that decimates the map and creates this Crater to fight in. A Jedi Consular would have an epic cutscene much like forced unleashed's

creating a massive earthquake the shapes the field. A Sith inquistor could summon a giant thunderstorm that creates obstacles like twisters and wormholes. The possibilities could be limitless really, bioware would know moreso what is capable of doing with their engine than i would.

 

 

So onto what objectives i am proposing based on classes,

 

 

IA/Smuggler- Either class has just called in a massive orbital strike that decimates all the opponents, what is left are enemies that need to be eliminated and we have sent a strike force in to wipe them out.

 

 

Objective: Team Deathmatch 10 points per kill 1000 points to win

 

 

BH/Trooper- A high value target has been found on the planet ______. We are sending the most trained professions in the business to find and eliminate the target. This target has information that can change the tide of the war.

 

 

Objective: Juggernaut 50 points per kill 1000 points to win

 

 

SW/JK- The ______ council has been feeling a disturbance of high raw force energies hidden within the earth at ______. Your team has been sent in with ____ relics and must collect as much as you can in order to tip the balance of power in the ____council's favor.

 

 

Objective: King of the Hill 5 second channels, points undefined at this time

 

 

SI/JC-_____ has uncovered secret base's of the republic/imperial, which are said to contain ancient sith/jedi relics that may turn the tide of the war, steal the relics and bring them back to our operations base.

 

 

Objective: Capture the flag based, 300 points per cap, 900 to win

So the map we would start with the same one each time and when the doors open "insert name" character would cause an event that would shape the map and make it that objective. I just feel that SWTOR shouldn't settle for anything that isn't innovative and i think creating such a map could prove to be both challenging and the player base would love it.

 

I've been PVPing for years and to see this implemented would amaze me. Clearly i just wrote up this quick template on the forums, but it could be something great with both developer and community feedback. I hope that you will be both optimistic and kind when replying to this thread, i know maybe not everyone will like this idea but i ask that you be respectful of other’s opinion and not completely troll lol.

I'm anxious to see the new stuff that comes out with the updates. With this large of a community and growing, they have to start meeting demands and catering to the better ideas brought up.

No it would be one player is selected and based on their class there would be a cutscene of their character calling say an orbital strike that would make the field a giant crater that we have a deathmatch in. Sorry for poor grammar on my cell

Shouldn't the IA/Smuggler get the assassination target and the BH/Trooper get the orbital strike?

 

Otherwise, great ideas!

 

Well if your trooper i guess it makes more sense for an orbital but my thinking was both IA and Smug get an orbital strike ability and BH's hunt people.

I really liked the ideas. It would be great if this could be expanded upon. The players shaping the battlefield is really good as well. Are you also referring to the idea that certain classes have different objectives to complete in the warzone?

 

I like this idea too. Different classes to have different objectives to complete as a side note in a warzone would be sweet

I think it would be difficult to give each class different objectives and unfair in a sense; you may only have one agent in the game, who would he fight if it was team deathmatch?. I meant overall the objective for the map would be determined by one person's class for everyone.

The reason TDM is so frowned upon is because it doesnt take as much group skill as obj based and its just straight PLAIN. Like huttball ?!?!?!??!Thats straight genius.

 

If you read the post its not just TDM, its 4 different match types on 1 map. I disagree that it is frowned upon, i know alot of pvper's that simply would love to have TDM. If you've been playing Huttball you'll see 75% of the time players are going for kills not the ball. None wants to sit at a base and wait for 15 minutes it isn't considered fun.

I like the idea(s). Especially the TDM, because as you pointed out, half the time I'm in a Huttball my team loses because there are 6 individual fights going on and 1 person attempting to score points. It would satisfy a lot of players to just have a straight "Kill people" objective.

 

Even if they don't implement it based on a given class in the queue, they should certainly be able to come up with some new maps and/or objectives.

Love it I would honestly be happy with a map of KOTH or TDM. KOTH would have to be a moving one though. No way u could just let people sit in one spot the whole game

I agree they would absolutely have to move, and i think it would be awesome especially with all the knockbacks lolol.
