pakchooieunf
It's true MMO worlds are composed of players and things that want to kill players. The trouble is that friendly NPCs and Animals eat up server resources, that's the problem. Setting a flag on an actor (critter, NPC, etc) from "Hostile to "Friendly" doesn't eat up more resources. You're simply taking the existing population, and re-purposing some of them. Edited January 10, 2012 by pakchooieunf

Elepole
Red wild predator should attack (even more, hunt) yellow wild prey, that alone will add more life in this "world", also, a predator shouldn't be stupid and randomly attack player, but hunt them, follow them and wait until the player engage some action (scavenging, fighting something else, etc ...) to attack them, like a real predator would do. abishe
Please dont bring back faction farming as a solution. who needs that?. most easy solution, give half of the agression mobs (beasts) yellow status *neutral* remove agression link., and their you have it. a more realistic world, even better if yellow run away of players. but for sake of resources it not have to Edited January 10, 2012 by abishe
Slightlycampana
the reality is that this game (and others like it) is designed to force players to navigate and confront hordes of angry monsters. That's what this game is about. There was never any intention of giving players a living, breathing Star Wars experience. It's a Star Wars dungeon crawl, just like WoW is a Warcraft dungeon crawl. Yes, very much this.
Quip
Setting a flag on an actor (critter, NPC, etc) from "Hostile to "Friendly" doesn't eat up more resources. You're simply taking the existing population, and re-purposing some of them. The resources are eaten up by the number of actors the server has to track and broadcast to the client(s). I'm not saying it shouldn't be done I'm just explaining the current philosophy, developers fear a lack of quest and experience granting actors in game more than they concern themselves with the natural feel of the game. It's not better or worse; it's just how they are approaching the server resources. As for hostility, yeah more stuff should be neutral, it's crazy that any species could survive on a planet where even the squirrels are psychotic. Except Urdnot Wrex, he could.
