JamsterBamster
What exactly is "Stealth Level" and how is it determined? I'm trying to determine the value of the Misdirection talent in the Shadow Infiltration tree and am unsure how significant a stealth level increase of 3 is. Jaerion
Short answer, higher stealth level decreases the odds of you being detected. If you like stealthing at all, this skill is most likely going to appeal to you.
Kaffis
To put it in perspective, Blackout's actual effect is that it increases your stealth level by 15. Considering Blackout allows you to basically walk on top of an even-levelled enemy, well, you make your own conclusions. Alternately, find two similar enemies, one of equal level and one of 3 levels less than your own. Experiment with how close you can get before the first one gets "spooked." Then, compare with how close you can get to the -3 levelled one. That's 3 levels of difference.
Diosz
The problem I'm having isn't with stealth level myself, it's the fact that while running some hard modes and normal flashpoints some of the bosses and normal enemies can see you way before they see non stealthed classes. If I'm standing behind my non-stealthed friends in a flashpoint.. I find it awful ridiculous for the bosses to be able to see through stealth and notice me before them (as they stand.. visibly.. right there). I don't know. JamsterBamster
Huh. Yea I just wish stealth level seemed less arbitrary / was better explained in-game
Conkreet
The way I've always thought of it is it's just what it says, level. Meaning if you're level 40, and stealthing by level 40 NPCs, your stealth will act as if you're level 43 so you're less likely to be detected because you're effectively 3 levels higher than the NPCs. Which is why Blackout basically makes you completely invisible, because you would be 15 levels higher than even level mobs.
JamsterBamster
That's what I figured... but there's no confirmation of that in-game as far as I can tell
jahjitsu
Seems to be bugged. I can walk past some mobs around my level without being detecting at all, and other times I am detected almost instantly. Same mob, same level, and I have 3/3 Misdirection. JamsterBamster
Okay here's a more specific question: if I'm mostly doing PvE right now with a bit of PvP on the side, is Misdirection or Shadowy Veil a better investment of my talent points? Spatzimaus
Seems to be bugged. I can walk past some mobs around my level without being detecting at all, and other times I am detected almost instantly. Same mob, same level, and I have 3/3 Misdirection. It's also directional. An even-level enemy will spot you if you're within a cone going ~15 feet in front of them, OR if you're within 5' in any direction. It's also time-based, so running past them while stealthed gives them fewer chances to detect you; you might hear their alert message (the "huh?" or "what was that?") and they might even draw their weapons, but going into actual combat mode will only happen if you stay near them after they've become suspicious. So adding +3 to your level, while also boosting your speed by 15%, makes a big difference in how easily you can sneak past a guard.
JamsterBamster
Yea but the speed increase doesn't stack. Meaning the Sprint ability renders the movement speed boost of Misdirection kind of useless.
