Artifice & Colour Crystals Feedback.

Okey first of all I'd like to say that I love the way crafting is done in SWTOR. I used to hate crafting and skipped it on my characters in other MMO's, but here I love it.

 

Now, I took Artifice as my crafting profession, in the hope that it would allow me to make nice (unique) colour crystals. Unfortunately this seems not to be the case at all. So far I've been able to make only 5 colours: Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Green. And all crystals from the same colour are all the exact same no matter which crystal you make. To be fair, this sucks a little.:(

 

I think it would be great if Artifice could be expanded a bit by having more Colour Crystal Recipes drop from mobs and normal flashpoints. Not just for different colours, but also for differences in intensity, sharpness/crispness or even blade size/thickness.

I also think that all the rare colours (Silver, Magenta, Teal...etc.) should be (rare) Artifice recipes.

Artificers should get recipies for BOP colour crystals with unique colours (perriwinkle anyone ;) ) and slightly better stats that would give them an equivalent to the BOP speeder recipies that Cybers get, or the re-usable Biochems.

 

I also wish Artificers could make crystals with procs like a DoT or a vampiric life drain.

 

 

All craft skills should get special recipies that produce BOP items or usable only with that craft skill.

All craft skills should also get a consumable of some sort, like armor patches or repair kits.

Hi! Please look at all the other forum posts here. There are tons of information and posts about this already. There are drops and other colors.

 

And most of them ramble of with 20+ pages of speculation and misinterpretation.

Not to mention this is a post offering feedback rather than asking where X color is found if at all.

I agree that they should add some other stats on crystals there's just endurance, Crit & power so far.

 

However giving Artifice items they only they can use is going to cause even more problems, just look a biochem, cyber tech.

 

Just let all crafted items be used by anyone otherwise it's going to be a constant balancing act and FoTM crew skill switching.

As ive stated in other threads, im against nerfing biochem, and I am an artificer. But releasing the BOP from biochem and cybertech items wont change the fact that other crafting skills do need a buff. If you remove the BOP all it would do is make those crafting skills even better then they already are. It would be a quick fix but not the ideal one. You wont hear biochemists complaining, thats for sure, as theyll get rich real fast selling those things. Artifice definetly needs a buff. Its screwed up that the purple recipes we get from the trainer are useless. I dont know about everyone else, but i'd rather have a relic that gives me 52 endurance and 260 crit rating on the use, then give up 520 hp for 40 more crit rating on the use. By using the "better" relic from crafting you actually lose out on 1000 hp, more if you get the datacron relic. Not mentioning that you can get identical items relatively easy in the centurion and champion pvp vendor.

I agree with you on the relic situation, it currently better to have the blue flat +52 endurance and a little less power/altricity etc than go for the epic versions. That needs to be fixed somehow.

 

FYI on our server atm the Pink colour crystal is selling for 500k credits. Maybe they should let the Alderan crystal be useful at lvl 50 also. Extra colour crystal at present. NO we have enough for now.

 

Truth is, they want you to grind dailies, Heroics, OP's go get the best gear not send your companion off for an hour and get end game stuff.

 

Like I said previously letting everyone access all crafted items stops this trend we are seeing atm with biochem. Then look at each craft individually and see what can be changed to make it better, not constant yo-yo effect you are asking for.

regardless of how much the magenta crystal is selling for, it only sells for that much because its damn near impossible for someone to get the schematic, not because its any better. People will pay ridiculous amounts of credits to have something that little people have. The fact is that you need a 16 man raid to get that schem to drop, which will only happen if you have a big guild, or you get very lucky in a pug. I've seen people go at him 5 times in a day to not drop it, which means the drop rate is very low. And no, im not saying to make it easier, value will just drop. Its just how things are. Artifice needs a buff, along with almost every crafting skill thats not cybertech or biochem.

 

And also, like the biochem stuff, its not just send your companion out for an hour. Just like the relics, you need hard FP mode drops as mats. So that is kind of unfounded. The fact is, the "high end" artifice items are useless. Yeah, you can get a pretty color crystal if your very lucky, but thats it. In terms of actually improving your character somehow, it is USELESS. Its a great crew skill to have while levelling up, but at level 50 you might as well drop it as is.

Actually he is perfectly doable with 8 people - killed him yesterday (got the +crit schematic, yeah). We brought 2 tanks, 3 Healers (2 with AoE heals), rest DPS. Needed 5 tries, since he and/or his adds bugged out sometimes or something bad happened to some key person.

 

If anyone is playing on The Jedi Tower (EU) and wants a crystal on the republic side, send me a pm, I can send you to the guy who got the schematic.

Biometric crystal Alloy I guess your referring too.

 

Yep I have a bunch of these in my bank, was wanting to see if any schemetics drop from raids (hard/nightmare) before using them. That or can the lightsabres you make with them be RE'd to get a superor one?

 

If those 2 things are in place then Artfice wouldn't really need any buffs.

 

We don't want to give ourselves extra stats over other players not even biochem can do that on a perm basis.

My only real frustration with Artifice has been that I cannot craft purple colored crystals. This feels like a massive oversight given I can easily craft yellow (a non-movie color) but not a BFM Purple (an established film color), while everyone has easy access to orange it seems via most custom gear.
