Targeting By Tab Logic

I didnt saw a post which mentions this logic behind tabing to select a target. Does anyone have that problem or is it just me who doesnt founds this logic well ?

As i see tabing is not working as how it should be in normal. What i think it should select your targets when you tab by from closest to far away, but its like not working like that, what i see its randomly targeting anyone who is in the screen and sometimes its re-selecting some targets again without selecting the unselected one on the screen.

I've noticed that in pve, it does select the closest, but in pvp, it's like a line going backward: if a player suddenly comes close to you, you'll have to select all players to the background before selecting the foreground again...

Like you, I don't really understand..

Yeah i have been struggeling a bit with this as well.

Just old habits still stuck from WoW.

There is some options in the key binds on Trageting, i've fiddeled a bit with the different options, but still havent found an option that copys how it works in WoW.

It would be awsome if Tab cycled from closest to furthest away enemy, but it dont seem to do that.

i have real problems with this.

it seems to tab the target i want LAST every time.

i dont know what wow's tab target logic is but it is perfect! its rare if ever that whilst facing mobs and hitting tab that it tabs one i didnt want.

with swtor, im 99% certain it'll never target the one i want.

the most annoying of this issue is when mobs are cc'd

i was in a group mission, id WW'd a mob off to my side and was facing the 2 mobs our tank was facing. my cc'd mob wasnt even visible on my screen. i tabbed and hit force lightning only to see my char spin 90 degrees to my left and nuke my cc'd mob breaking it. sigh..

so, out of the 3 choices the system had. 2 mobs directly in front of me being dps'd or a cc'd mob to my side thats off my visible screen and it decides the cc'd one is my target of the moment. dumb.

i've played wow too long to change my tab targeting habits.. this combined with the awkward targeting display (its difficult/not obvious to tel what mob you have targeted in a group of them) even worse if they're marked as the marks take up half the screen and you basically have to physically look at your target frame to see who you've targeted as you cant tell on the mob itself.

in short, the targeting system both in action and visually is flawed and basic. needs a bit of tweaking.
