"Solid" PvE build?

So, I've leveled my Trooper Vanguard to 50, and I will admit that I'm a little jaded with the endgame, and PvP has grown somewhat wearisome. As I wait for more endgame content to be added, I started an IA Sniper with a BH friend, but he has not been able to get on much lately.

I therefore decided to start a new alt and dabble in the dark world of the Sith. For the record, I knew coming in that Juggernaut has myriad issues associated with it, but I didn't care because 1) I wanted 1 lightsaber 2) I liked the look and 3) I don't intend to PvP much or at all with it. I've played up to level 15 so far, and while I can recognize the issues with it I also have enjoyed it and found the class to have real potential.

I've browsed a couple guides on here, but a lot of them seem PvP based, and there is variation between "Rage is the be-all end-all" and "Vengeance isn't so bad" so, frankly, I'm a little confused, and thought I might ask you guys for some input :)

What I'm looking for is a pure PvE Juggernaut build. I'm loathe to go all-tank, mostly because I've already done it as a Vanguard but also because BH's are simply better at it, so I'm leaning more to the DPS trees--but I am totally willing to dabble in all 3 trees to make a well-rounded character. The way I see it, if I don't do as much damage as a pure DPSer, then I'm at least somewhat tougher than they are. When I say PvE keep in mind that I count Flashpoints, Heroics etc. in this, as I greatly enjoy them (and in my experience really the core of any group is having a solid tank and a solid healer--everything else just helps).

So far, I've used my skill points cautiously. IIRC I have 3 points in Single Saber Mastery (which I'm already wondering if I should change, since I just got Soresu form and assume that I'll have to use that all the time now) and 2 or 3 in Malice. Other than that, I'm unsure where to go next, and would appreciate any input :D

Quick note: if you aren't immortal spec, don't bother with soresu.

And I am full Immortal, which allows me to fully gear Vette and let her DPS while I have my fun. What I hear is that if you aren't immortal, you end up having to use Quinn.

Pretty much. I'd hate to have a healbot when we have such awesome DPS companions.

While I cannot talk about PT tanking, Immortal spec is FUN. You're constantly spamming skills and can actually output considerable damage. Obviously not as much as Vengeance and Rage, but your DPS contribution to any fight is quite solid as long as you're the one being attacked (you get a lot of boosts from blocking, dodging, shielding). Mind you, from what I know, our AOE sucks compared to Powertechs.

I actually went through the game with a pure Vengence tree (left over points went into some rage abilities at the end) and used Jaesa all the way through. True it is probably much harder using her over Quinn but I was able to manage it with only a few bumps and scrapes with exception to the boss fight right before the final but he seems to be hard no matter how you spec it from what people have been saying.

Thats the build I currently have, used Jaesa the moment I got her all the way to the end of chapter three.

I put points into Savagry, Rage and Deadly reprisal (that order) after I got to shatter.

I hate to say it man but if you want to rock PVE you go immortal. I have been all three specs and a few mid specs trying to find a balance (veng, rage middle ground). In pvp rage is king for DPS, immortal is weaksauce unless you just get a ***** from living a long time.

PVE rage was doable, veng sucked, Immortal made it a cake walk. i was Immortal with artifice and had all Crit/Surge gear with full immortal spec and PVE was an absolute cake walk. i was taking on elite mobs higher level then me with my wonderful jedi pet :)

Thank you all for your help and input!

Here is a build I dabbled with:

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#101drhbzZIhMZGbRrzoo.1

I've taken passives where possible (I like passives--improve what you already do, don't just keep adding), I would be able to mostly use Shii-Cho (but could tank with Soresu if necessary). I might consider switching Invincible for a second rank of Dominate, but I figure the damage reduction is better than one autocrit--right?

BTW, as an aside: Are there "heavy robe" options later on for the Juggernaut, or is more of the Vader-powered-armor look? So far I've mostly liked what I've seen (if not been particularly inspired), but am curious as to the direction.

Maybe on other classes you can "hybrid" but here doesnt works...

Vengeance full spec'd with gear isnt half of a sorceror (he beats us on EVERYTHING). Guess how it will be cut in half...

Immortal is good enough if you have tank gear, if you have it, great for putting points there, but the Vengeance and Rage points will be mostly useless..

Rage tree is almost a Smash tree, low tier talents maybe usefull (Malice, Brutality), but the top tiers have only two ways: -> Smash empowering or -> Stupid talents (like Relentless or Unbrekabe Rage).

I suggest you to stick to a tree while leveling and if you wanna try hybrids, do it with gear, if dont, you will feel even more broken than most of juggernauts feel.

Vengeance Build at 45

So far I've leveled my sorc to 50 and my juggernaut to 45. On Voss at the moment with the Juggernaut. Things might have been a tiny bit easier with the sorc and having some of my own personal heals that I could use with a tank companion, but its very minimally noticeable.

I've leveled the juggernaut completely as vengeance since I have no desire to tank (though tanking in the 2/4 man Heroic up through Hoth is still viable with a group that will focus burn targets and cc). I don't use Quinn because he annoys me. I used Vette until I maxed her affection at 10k and now I'm swapping back and forth between Pierce and Jaesa depending on the individual conversations and which companion I feel like using at the moment. Neither is fully geared out. The only time I break out Quinn is when I want to kill a white/gold star mob. Might use Quinn once in a while when I go to solo a 2 man Heroic. When I do that, I just swap Vette's gear onto him for 2 minutes, kill the boss/elite and then swap the gear back to Vette.

This game is not hard in any fashion. If you want to tank, go Immortal. If not, you'll be just fine breezing through it as either Rage or Vengeance spec. If people want to cite pvp damage totals to show that Jugg is weak on dps, you might want to take into account that we are terrible in pvp since our mobility is horrid when we can be slowed, stunned and otherwise cc'd constantly. PvE, we do just fine so far...I don't see it changing much at 50.

One major factor though, make your life a lot easier and upgrade your saber hilt every 2 levels. I went artifice on the Juggernaut and have that up to 400. I make blue hilts of each level and keep one for use and GTN the rest of them. If you're willing to buy/make a new blue might hilt to have ready as soon as you hit each new level at which a new hilt can be used, your damage will be just fine...and you'll be fine using any companion you want to use.
