Wraith_Shadow
Remember that? Wasn't that awesome? Being able to craft your character? Making and playing a character instead of just being handed one to use? One of my biggest issues with this game was that i have NO SAY in the powers i have. NONE. Even the Star Trek Game gives me SOME say in what powers i have. In KOTOR i had a Bad ^$$ duel wielding dark jedi who could use force lightning and force drain. Here, at level 35 i only get force choke, force leap, and a very very short force saber throw. KOTOR allowed a very nice free form where i could build myself as a healer, tank, or dps. I could be a jedi or a trooper or a BH based on my armor, the powers I CHOSE, and specing my self to make those powers better. Even Dark/Light side points had an effect on my powers making it beneficial instead of just lame. It's not like free form power sets are unheard of in MMOs. Champions online did it nicely, Secret World is doing it, and i can't wait to get my hands on that. Am i the only person that wishes i actually had some say in what my character CAN and CAN'T do instead of just having Bioware HAND me a character? blackcerberus
no ty, I got sick of battlemages back in UO days give a million people a million options, and before you can blink 999,999 of them will have copied the build of the only smart guy the more options you give, the more people goes with cookie cutters. games with classes end up offering more versatility and variation than freeform systems. krisslanza
While freeform sounds neat, as another poster mentioned... it doesn't usually work as intended. What happens is one guy makes the "uber" build, and everyone will copy that one. If you don't, you probably have a hard time getting into things without friends who don't mind if you use "non-uber" setups.
Themanthatisi
I agree with you on that.... Same for picking how many points to put toward attributes. For a RPG to me to be at its best, its how custom I can make my charachter. As for you wish on force powers, I guess they figured if you want to be light side, no lightning. However, in the orig KOTOR I remember if you did that, there would be a penalty in force poiints if you were light side using lightning or drain and such (dark powers). I do hope in time they do make it so we have more room to fine tune our charachter. Also, what would really liven up the "fun" is like a tailor shop where we could change some of the colors of the clothing we are wearing, many of us our out there looking too much like each other. Wraith_Shadow
It just amazed me that this ws supposed to be "YOUR story" but once i started beta it was obvious that it was BIOWARE's story. Even in all of the dev responses it seemed i was playing a bioware story of biowares character in Biowares version of star wars. There is no RPG aspects to this game. The best thing i've heard from an RP stand point is "ignore everything the game does or says, and just pretend it's different". Personally i would rather have people with a million options copying one guy, than having one guy people wish they had ANY options for. At what point should they just drop character creation all together and just hand you a character?

THIS!!! Don't get me wrong, I love freeform. But everyone and their grandmother goes one way, or all the options are 'balanced' to the point of blandness.
