Playpenn
This isnt a rage thread or QQ or anything like that, I just have so much frustration with this game and I would like to hear how the community stands on my thoughts. I have been playing MMOs for about 7 years now, almost exclusively WoW. Don't get me wrong....I LOVE this game. It feels so epic. From the questing to the interactive PvP. Everything about this game is amazing....except the execution. The reason no MMOs have beaten out WoW yet is because no company adheres to Blizzards perfections. From class balance (for the most part every class is equally strong if played correctly) to the responsiveness of the game in general. When a sorcerer has Direct Damage, CC, healing, shields, DoTs, and EXTREMELY high DPS how can you even BEGIN to think that you can have a balanced game? I know everyones counter arguement is "well this game just came out nerd go back to WoW" but that is just invalid. The fact that the game just came out means nothing when the game is just completely imbalanced and unresponsive. Its like the devs didn't even think of class balance when they put this game out. To me it feels like they made a single player game a MMO. I love this game to the core, and I have loved Star Wars since I was a kid but I just find it hard to believe that BW expects this game to succeed in the current state its in. When people come from a game like WoW that is completely 100% polished in every aspect...they arent going to want to adjust to a clunky feeling game. Why pay $15 a month to play a game that is completely miserable in the gameplay department. BW has MAJOR issues to fix in the coming months or this game will crash and burn like every other "wow killer" /endrant
acheros
I think, if anything, only three things will kill this game. A lack of quick fixes on small bugs, and information/ETA on big, game breaking bugs.poor customer service.sluggish gameplay Thats about it, the game in of itself has HUGE potential. But the sluggish, dull, delayed gameplay that gives our characters less reaction time then a drugged up turtle, the HORRIBLE customer service, and the rampant bugs many of which should of been fixed in beta. aznthecapn
Then you don't remember the vast amount of imbalance and bugs that WoW went through the first several years. I do. I played a lot. WoW benefits from over 7 years of tweaking and adjusting and its STILL got issues. SWTOR has a fraction of the problems WoW had in its first year, much less the years after. Take off the rose tinted glasses and remember Vanilla for what it was. Worse than SWTOR.

Stalkrates
right, 7 years of polishing and for the last month we havent been able to kill lord rhyolith on heroic to get the one guy in our raid his mount, because when rhyo phases he becomes a friendly target. mmo's get patched to affect everything you think will make it fail. thats the beauty of it. if you honestly think they're sitting there brushing off their sleeves thinking they're done with it then you need to give your head a shake. with all the potential this game has do you think they're gonna sit back and leave it the way it is? Learn to comprehend the english language before you try to troll ahahaha But that being said, WoW did have its early bugs. I'm not saying the game is perfect. I'm saying this game will die if they don't put this games play-ability on par with WoW RAPIDLY because people will simply get sick of dealing with a sluggish unbalanced game. WoW is not ultra polished and its darn sure not balanced. I'm not sure what WoW you wre playing, but it wasn't the same one I played for 6 years. Tenceriker
WoW was a broken game the first 8 months at least. The fact so many trolls try and bring it up as any measure of balanced anything is laughable.

aznthecapn
Who cares what vanilla was. Its cata now. There are now much higher expectations for mmos, and bioware doesnt meet them. Anyone who thinks SWTOR now should be at the level WoW is now is completely delusional and has no concept of how video games are developed. They spent 5 years creating a BASELINE for this game. WoW had the same development period and came out worse. Its benefitted from SEVEN years of further development. If WoW 2 came out looking like SWTOR, I could completely understand the argument but this is a completely different distributor and development team. Your expectations are far, far too high. Be realistic or shut up.

Ian_Blackmoor
Nothing against WoW, I played it for years and don't regret the money I spent on it. But WoW tends to hold your hand a bit more (for lack of a better phrase), meanwhile I spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out where my trainer was to become a gunslinger. I'm not ruling out the fact that I could have just overlooked something simple. Class balance in WoW!?!?!?! I played a rogue and cant count the number of times pvp'ers screamed nerf the rogue class .. later on it was nerf the druids etc, etc. In all honesty I haven't played WoW in a year or so so maybe they finally got the perfect balance between classes hammered out ... but I doubt it. The early wow class imbalances, like when it was World of Roguecraft, look minor compared to a couple of the insanely overpowered classes that are in TOR PvP. TOR's class imbalances make Bright Wizards in Warhammer look balanced. Seriously, classes in WoW have been overpowered or gimp, but there's never been an alpha class (with the possible exception of Death Knights for a short time after Wrath released) but in TOR, there are a couple builds that are damned close to alpha in PvP. FerrusPA
Say what you will about WoW at least Blizzard fixed their crap piece by piece. TOR simply won't have the endurance to be fixed unless they're working really really REALLY hard RIGHT NOW. Why on earth would they NOT be? They want this game fixed more than you do. For you, its just a game you don't care if you continue playing or not - for them its a PAYCHECK. Grow a brain. People who think game developers just shove a game out the door and then sit back and count their money know nothing about the industry. Do you even have a job? If you did, you'd know what they are doing right now.
acheros
The red highlighted one will be the killer mark my words. Oh i agree. Most can handle sluggish gameplay. Most can wade through bugs until they're fixed. But when the CS is poor, often times rude and ignore the customer entirely, or don't know what they're talking about. It doesn't exactly promote the idea the developers know what they're doing. Even the little things.. For instance, i called for an issue with my security key thats on my ipod touch. They asked what model my "iphone" was, and i told them "its a second generation ipod touch", they proceeded to tell me that the ipod touch ISN'T SUPPORTED! despite the fact that the website clearly says "iphone, i pod touch and ipad"

And yes, you are right - if things will not be fixed, the game will go down, but - isnt that like being a Captain Obvious? but really, praising wow, dude, i REALLY wish to magically put you in 30 days since WoW release. This game is only 10 ! effing days since full release, and it is gorgeous, marvelous game, as it is right now. now wait for 30-40 days, see what happens, then judge. i will be the first naysayer if devs will do it wrong, believe me. just dont bring that WoW thing if you really werent there when it all did start. Sephendrine
Not sure what to laugh about first. I've played WoW over 5 years, and at no point in the 5 years I played it was pvp ever balanced. To talk about class balance in WoW is hilarious. All they do is try to figure out which class to nerf next. It's an ongoing process. And "polished"? A dungeon-runner game that queues up people where they stand to run 10 minute heroics so they can trash each other in their 15 year old gutter speak so they can pull the vending machine lever for their next purple is "polished"? Are you freaking kidding me? This game won't die, and forgive me from saying it, but simply put: your entire analysis is suspect at best.
