BOLTgamer
No, im not gonna complain how the graphics are outdate, and why I don't understand how people have computers weaker then and Iphone, and play this, no. Bioware, why make the graphics like this, for peformance on lower end computers, if you can't even optimize it right? I got a 6990 2gb, I7 sandybridge, and 16gb ram, yet I only get 140 fps, shouldn't I be getting like 320? And when im in areas like warzones or the fleet, it drops down to 20-40, I mean, im getting as much FPS in a fleet, as much compared to my friend who has a mac. Come on Bioware, I like the aesthetics and feel of the graphics, but some the optimization needs to be improved. Also would like to point out that some textures are not done well at all, for example, rocks and logs on Alderaan look horrible.
Celleye
ما هي اللعنة = "What she the curse" - you had to type that in arabic? lol P.S. - It's not bioware's fault you either have a crappy video card or don't know how to use it/ The game looks amaizing if you set up your graphics card just like you would in in-game options. You're saying that his 6990 is a "crappy" card? Get out of here.

Zebular
You're saying that his 6990 is a "crappy" card? Get out of here. I read his post wrong and corrected myself before the thread got cleaned. I misunderstood and thought he was saying the graphics were crappy - not performance. Besides, I said you "either" and "or," I did not say one was the case and not the other. I whole-heartedly agree that there needs to be some major optimization of the client to get it to be so less system-intensive. The textures are horrible for being a 2012 game. Medium to high doesn't change anything. Pixelated shadows, no AA(I force mine through CCC) then the awful awful performance but something that doesn't look that good. bliapis
lots of ppl think that. Blame on propaganda.. poor ppl I got the same problem. I have an i5 2500k oc @ 3.7 and gtx580 and fleet is either 30sh or 40sh depending on its mood. totally independed of ppl standing around me! checked the properties of my card with nvidia inspector and the load of my cpu and at the fleet i had low fps while both card and cpu was averaging 50% load.. ***!?! Why aint both processors maxed out doing their jobs but they are idleing giving low fps? At other areas, GPU is maxed out but in the fleet its sleeping. Rivanwarder
Either you wrote this before OP changed his post up a bit, or you just have very limited reading comprehension. Maybe you should check again. Claiming 140 FPS is totally bogus when the game doesnt allow more than 111. Was hard to put two and two together I know. BanzaiChigau
To achieve 320 FPS you would kind of need 4 of those graphic cards powered by at least a naquadah generator, just to be sure your PC is stable enough to allow you to enjoy ridiculously and totally unecessarily high FPS for an MMORPG

Yes the engine appears to be extremely unoptimised. Over in the customer service forum the "Horrid Fps" thread has reached its 4th iteration, with each gaining over 100,000 views. There is something drastically wrong and a failure by BW to act may lead to an exodus of those struck by this.

bliapis
The engine is a sleeper.. i feel like a beta tester that helping the company actually make it work. Its bad optimized and i hope they can find some fast fix around it. 30fps is totally different from 50fps ON SWTOR's FPS counter. im not saying SWTOR FPS counter is valid and true but using it and at 30 i cant claim the fps is smooth. on 50+ it is. even at 40sh. There is something drastically wrong and a failure by BW to act may lead to an exodus of those struck by this. Some of the FPS problems seem to be related to certain GPUs downclocking to 2D clocks speeds and that has nothing to do with the engine being terrible, it's a driver issue specially in Nvidia's case considering their latest official driver is dated from October if i recall correctly. I have a 560 non TI and don't have that FPS problem, game runs fine with my system, FPS get to the 40s or even 30s ocassionally in the Alderaan warzone (seems to be a problem related to the big lasser cannons firing, as reported by many players having FPS issues). A friend of mine with a 560 TI suffers the FPS problem, his card runs the game at 2D speeds, obviously his FPS are bad. So yeah, the game has lots of issues which come from the beta, most of them were present in the latest betas so let's hope for a good patch soon and hopefully better drivers for our GPUs aswell. But if he gets 140 FPS that's quite good for a single GPU system, in my opinion, compared to what other users are getting. And also it's true the game has a hard FPS cap of around 111ish i believe, as mentioned previously, so maybe it's time to pay more attention to what some people might be exaggerating, or whatnot Edited January 2, 2012 by BanzaiChigau
Rikalonius
obvious troll. the eye can only process something lik 30-35 FPS if you are getting 140 you wouldn't notice a thing. They eye can process faster, probably closer to 60 fps, but it's hardly noticable. In an FPS 30-60 is a world of difference to ur K/D ratio, but in an MMO, 30 FPS is pretty tolerable. The problems seem to range far and wide, though from what I have read in the CS forum over the last two weeks the most common cause of stuttering/random spikes and warzone drops, is a sudden drop in GPU/CPU utilisation from round 80-90% on your ship/ outdoors questing to 20-40% while in a warzone.
