DarthWoad Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 If this game had no lightsabers (iconic), wasnt called Star Wars, if every name and place in the game was different, including moff, imperial, literally every Star wars related name or word in the entire game was changed, would you still play it?
MercArcher Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 The operations are pretty fun, so probably yeah.
Jalden Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Hard to say. The Star Wars theme is pretty important to me.
Merex Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 So, if this was a Jade Empire MMO instead of Star Wars? **** yes.
Shoxc Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 If this wasn't a star wars game, but a generic space MMO, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole with all it's issues
TimboFisher Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 The setting is pretty important to me. If they changed it to a mass effect mmo I would probably still play it.
Razhah Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 If they switched it from a Star Wars theme to a Mass Effect theme I would certainly play it.
FerrusPA Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 If this game had no lightsabers (iconic), wasnt called Star Wars, if every name and place in the game was different, including moff, imperial, literally every Star wars related name or word in the entire game was changed, would you still play it? Very likely not.
MEdiKLEZ Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 i hate weird fantasy dungeons and dragons crap theme mmos! Thats why i tried star trek online which was fail. I still play pirates of the burning sea which has basically a dead player base.So i ended up with swtor..
Cutemoff Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Yeah aslong as it had a rich story. I actually like normal weapons more than light sabers, as real swords ect are alot more.. personal in a way, and brutal. You have to put weight and strenght into hacking off limbs alot more brutal!
RecondoJoe Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) No, lol. I wouldn't have even installed it on my computer if it wasn't Star Wars related. Although I would like a future MMO where your leveling process involves a similar story line for your Warrior, Wizard class etc. This is the first MMO where I've actually been interested in a story line since early EverQuest (was like 15 years old back then, and easily entertained). zepekit Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 yes... the name does nothing for me, if the game is bad... and it's not
foofad Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 All other things being equal, absolutely. I wish it was Mass Effect Online, instead of Star Wars. To be frank I really, really dislike Star Wars - I'm more of a 'hard' sci-fi kind of fellow. Ender's Game, Honor Harrington, that sort of thing. But the stories are so good I don't care.
Arress Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 being star wars was the only reason why I thought I'd "take a chance" on this game... knowing very well, based on beta, and everything EA did leading up to the announcement of the release.... that it was going to be another Rift... They still got my initial investment, won't have a sub out of me though
Zannis Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Yes, so long as the alternative story were just as compelling. I play plenty of games outside of the Star Wars universe. I played Warcraft for seven years, with not a lightsaber in sight.
Thormart Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 It being a bioware game, I would have to say yes.
Nemmar Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 If its a Bioware RPG, then i most probably would buy it regardless. But since i am a KOTOR fan, this was even better.
Luigispice Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Never played an MMO before, and if it wasn't the successor to kotor, I probably wouldn't have played this one. Having said that, I'm thoroughly enjoying this. Both single player and grouping.
