AnjyBelle
Just hit level 28 (Jedi Sentinel), but there are still so many things unclear for me. Maybe these questions were already discussed / answered somewhere else, but I still don't have a search-button here. Let me start: 1) Some levels ago I purchased a robe with upgrade slots from a recommandation vendor. Now I see a much better robe and have again enough recommandations, now for Tatooine. Should I buy it or just put better mods into my old robe? I ask, because these items seem to have basic stats, but then I'm uncertain. Perhaps someone could help me here. 2) I have artifice as crafting skill. By RE the crafted stuff I learn better blueprints. But these require items, which are obviously hard to come by (artifact gems). Although I leveled my treasure hunting skill and archeology as well, it seems to be a question of luck. So I'm literally stuck with the green stuff, which I don't need and no one would buy. Should I just craft and hunt for cheap things to level further and wait for a lucky mission? 3) Not so important but strange: I can travel 26 parsec for 106 credits. But when I want to remove a mod from my sword or my robe it costs between 600.-- and 800,-- atm. A bit unbalanced IMO, right? 4) During the time I decided one time to give a "dark" answer, one time I just misclicked. Now I have 100 dark side points beside my ~2000 light ones. Because the dark points persist, I wonder if I can be dark / light at the same time, which would be very different from KotOR I and II. I'm sure that there are much more questions in future, but I want to start to understand / learn the game. Any reply will be highly appreciated! Any reply will be highly appreciated! You can have both light and dark side points, you will be viewed in the game world as your 'Alignment' so if you have 100 Dark Side points and 2000 Light. The game will view you as 1900 lightside. I got to 2300 Darkside (Dark II) and my face changed to something I didn't like so I got 500 light side that dropped me to Dark I. Which is just glowing orange eyes. The amount of light/dark does nt matter, it the 'alignment' that matters Cheers
RobDingo
1) When it comes to choosing whether to keep your orange modifiable armor or upgrading to a whole new armor piece, stop and ask yourself this: Which one do you prefer the looks of? You can keep upgrading the mods (Armoring mod will increase the armor too keep it up to date) and keep the orange armor FOREVER, as long as you stay on top of the mods. Or, you can just buy a new set of armor, which you'll eventually have to replace as well. The orange you get to keep the same look forever, or you can swap it around with new armor. That's what it really boils down to. How do you want your character to look? 2) The rarer the schematic your crafting (Blue over green, and purple over blue), the harder the crafting materials are going to be to come buy. If you want the really good schematics though, you're going to have to keep mass producing and RE'ing them until you get to the purple. It's expensive and time consuming, but some of the purple schematics are really worth it. Just keep sending your companions off on Missions to gather the harder to come by materials and hope for the best. It really does involve a healthy dose of luck. 3) It seems TOR has solved the galactic fuel crisis! Yay! Now, to work on the galactic tailoring crisis! 4)The light side and dark side all balances out, and totals ALL of your choices together. For example, say you've collected 1000 LS points, and 200 DS points, you would be considered 800 LS. So, yes, you CAN have both LS and DS points, but you won't be considered Light Side or Dark Side. Depending on how you want to go, you may want to focus all LS for the nifty LS gar, or all DS for the DS gear. If you balance everything out, and say you get 500 LS and 500 DS, then you'll have 0 points overall. That's known as being Neutral (Sometimes referred to as being Grey.). Currently, there is no special gear for being Neutral, but the devs HAVE stated they WILL be putting in neutral gear to reward the people who want to roleplay their class and not get bogged down by ALWAYS choosing LS or DS. Beemerchick
1) Some levels ago I purchased a robe with upgrade slots from a recommandation vendor. Buying better mods costs money; buying items from a commendation vendor costs only commendation. If you find a better robe from a comm vendor, get it, but hold onto your orange robe until you can easily afford the cost to upgrade the mods. That said, this is only my opinion. 2) I have artifice as crafting skill. By RE the crafted stuff I learn better blueprints. Not sure what you mean by "lucky mission." Unless your companion fails the mission, you will get the materials needed to craft blues. When you send out a companion, make sure you select "Gemstone" as the reward for the mission. 3) Not so important but strange: I can travel 26 parsec for 106 credits. But when I want to remove a mod from my sword or my robe it costs between 600.-- and 800,-- atm. A bit unbalanced IMO, right? Gold sink. Also, you don't have to remove mods. You can just put new ones in. The old one is destroyed, but you didn't have to pay to remove it. 4) During the time I decided one time to give a "dark" answer, one time I just misclicked. Now I have 100 dark side points beside my ~2000 light ones. Because the dark points persist, I wonder if I can be dark / light at the same time, which would be very different from KotOR I and II. Yes and no. You can have Light and Dark Points at the same time. However, your overall alignment will be one way or the other. Alignment is calculated as Light - Dark = Total. You have 2000 Light and 100 Dark. Your overall alignment would be 1900 (Light I). If you have 2000 Dark and 100 Light, your overall alignment would be -1900 (Dark I). This is the same way it worked in KotOR I and II, except the calculations were done by the game and were not visible to the player. (One Dark decision did not take you from Light to Dark; it just lowered your overall Light.)
AnjyBelle
Ok, thanks so far. That was helpful. For the gathering missions:Of course I send out my companions for "gemstone missions". The crux is, that these artifact gems (purple) seem to be extremely rare. I found two of these, two!The galactical market seems to have the same problem, as there is nothing to buy than the stuff, I find myself in abundance. I think someone was selling a purple scavenging mission for 25k Those missions have a chance for failure.. and 2hours to complete In the time that it takes to complete missions I can do them myself. Which is just glowing orange eyes. If you want your face to stay the same as it was at character creation while still maintaining a Dark alignment, you can always toggle off "Show Sith Corruption" in your Preferences (it's in the Social tab, IIRC). It does tend to reset itself occasionally, though. If all you want is the orange eyes without the veiny, herpetic skin then yes, you will need to maintain yourself at Dark 1.
