  1. #1452 Been here since they opened up the first forums back in '08.
  2. Well, I'm not american but... Happy Thanksgiving I suppose! You all have fun doing whatever it is you do!
  3. Yes, I'm sure they'll try that again, LOL. Apparently Cartel Coins wasn't a "thoughtful" enough gift last time they offered it as a subscriber appreciation. Personally I couldn't care less about not getting any subscription perks or gifts or whatever this time around. We've gotten a few already this year and will most likely get more in the future. Instead of feeling face-slapped I'm hopeful more people will join in on the fun because of the bonus for new- and re-subscribers
  4. Did you just tell me I shouldn't let people like the OP tell me what to do?
  5. Well if I get it right you don't "need" to spend cc on anything if you have a little patience. You recieve the currency for unlocking ships by doing space combat, but at a slower rate. And the only way it'd provide an advantage would be if the player doing the currency conversion is skilled with the type of ship he unlocks. You can be just as competitive with the ships unlocked by default.
  6. Sweet, sounds very promising then! And to me a great deal of the attraction from this type of fighter comes from the trade-off, that you have to sacrifice hull and firepower for speed and maneuverability. Keeps you on your toes! Looking forward to it!
  7. Alright mate, thanks! Anyone flew scouts and had fun with them? I have a thing for small, fast and nimble fighters so I'd love a comment or two about 'em in action
  8. Quick question for those with hands-on experience, probably a stupid one: Did I get it right that even though you have some ship models unlocked by default and some unlockable with fleet requisition, they are all viable options to fly and be competitive in, depending on your playstyle? For example, the Republic scout NovaDive is just as viable as the unlockable Flashfire if the playstyle suits you? The NovaDive can't be considered a starting ship that you will "outgrow", right?
  9. It's a free expansion, so no need to pre-order or pre-purchase anything And there's a list of things you get as a subscriber at the GS section of this webpage, including early access.
  10. Sure looks fun! Great for us competetive flight combat PvPers!
  11. And again, from my experience, I disagree. But whatever. It's fine mate. Not everyone has to like it. Maybe not many will. Maybe most people will. What do I know? What do you know? Sorry it was not to your liking... Looks like tons of fun to me. Anyways - Wall of crazy. Old phrase. Obviously dev silliness. Not insulted by it. Carry on.
  12. Eh... I'm gonna disagree with that actually. I mean X vs T is a very popular game and I don't argue a lot of people didn't want that (way more than JTL atleast ) but I was very active in the pre-launch space discussions and there were definitely not a small amount of requests for BF2/warzone style space. Looks like BioWare thought it was a better fit for their game aswell, so as I've said, I'm not surprised they did GS like they did. Whether it's better, worse or just as good as BF2... Well... Have you played it?
  13. Oh, I know Elite, and even though I was a tad too young for it, I played quite a bit of Frontier as a young man. What I mean is I don't think I've seen anyone ask for something that... vast, or whatever. I'm sure some did though.
  14. Not everyone was asking for X-wing vs. TIE-Fighter though (and I don't think I've ever seen anyone ask for Elite...). A lot of people wanted something like the space combat in BF2 and even space warzones were requested by many. I can definitely see why they did what they did with GS.
  15. It is? How so? PvP conversion?Sure doesn't look like it to me... There seems to be a lot of people happy with what they've told us so far. That's all I'm gonna go by, obviously.
  16. Seems like a lot of people are happy with it to me... The sssp with 3D flight was on the Wall of crazy, and it got added to the game. That's how it is. So was animal mounts and barbershops - both in game.
  17. Lol, ain't that the truth. Wall of crazy was a phrase first mentioned by I think Damion Schubert way back pre-launch. It is features and concepts they wanna add to the game. Not everything will make it into the game likely, but some things will. The sssp and animal mounts for example. Go ahead and feel insulted by it if you want, but don't drag me into it. The phrase has been used for years. It's all good with me.
  18. It's also insulting to be dragged into your imaginary "we" crowd time after time, but you don't give a toss do you? I definitely never asked for SWG and I think GS looks like a lot of fun, very much in line with what I wanted for a 3D flight space feature in TOR.
  19. And to me those features mean nothing when the actual feel of Star Wars space combat just isn't there. In a Star Wars game I want the Battle of Endor and the Battle of Yavin. JTL didn't deliver. Hopefully GS does. It's a matter of opinion of course, but to me SWG's space expansion just wasn't very good.
  20. Heh, the sad part in this quote, IMO, is that you rank SWG's JTL as a top dogfighter experience... I've been enjoying space and flight combat games since the days of TIE-Fighter, Dawn Patrol and Overlord on DOS, and I found JTL's dogfighting features seriously lacking. The expansion had a few nice elements but a lot of it was crap.
  21. Can't say I can remember anyone specifically wishing for ONLY PvP... But with the huge amounts of posts about this pre-launch I'm sure some did. What I do remember though is space PvP being heavily requested back then, so I'm personally not surprised they decided to start there.
  22. I was very active in the countless iterations of the huge space combat thread pre-launch, and smaller sized warzone-ish action was heavily requested back then. There were people who wanted a JTL experience aswell, but they were far from a majority. Battlefront II's space components were often mentioned. It was probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest, threads pre-launch so I don't find it hard at all to see where they came up with GS.
