  1. Yep this let me out. It seems that only the Character Exit is broken.
  2. Yep myself as well. I'm thinking it's broken. Also when I do heroic event, the bar comes up and then doesn't go away. I have to log off then back on to get it to go away.
  3. I've done it before (gotten on someone else's ship when they started a space mission) to see if I could see what someone else see's on the space mission. All that happened was that my buddy disappeared and I was stuck on the ship. But I also didn't know that about the escape pod either, I just used the fleet pass.
  4. Personally what I think we need is an account wide ban, with maybe an option for short sweet "notes" next to it so we have an idea why we "/ignored" them when we did, if we want to. I've had one instance where I ignored someone for Ninja'ing an objective when I was on one character, and when I switched characters to work on that one, I ran into this person. Something happened where I needed to switch back to my main and it took me a while to realize the reason I couldn't speak with this person was that I had them on ignore. So after a few moments I remembered "why" they were on ignore and it irritated me that I had no way to know on alt's. See an account wide ban + notes would have saved me the trouble. I say that because as long as people keep doing that, and others keep interacting with them, they have no reason to stop doing what they are doing. I wish they would put in account wide "Ignore" options so that if we want to ignore the account of the player, or so if we want all characters on our account to ignore them, we can.
  5. My Addition is this...... ......when playing NC and your team is fighting to capture South, when you and someone else manages to stealth cap East and West, and you then call out "Abandon South and help guard East and West" and your team keeps trying to cap South while the other team manages to sends four players over to crush the lone player who took South..............you KNOW you're in trouble. 1.) Because they could spare 4 players for a 4 on 1 battle 2.) Because even with it being 6 on 4 your team "still" couldn't take South uncontested from them. It's about that time I start to feel like taking Defender points and calling it a day. Why some players get fixated on having "South" come heck or high water I will never know.
  6. Sounds like you want something that does a lot of damage fast. I'd recommend either the Jedi Shadow or the Sith Assassin. Both come with speed, hide in plain sight skill (can't believe I don't remember the name of their stealth skill), as well as a wicked amount of unanswered front in damage. The only thing that bites is that if you get caught by two or more players you'll go down fast, but they also have some sweet escape skills as well
  7. *Sigh* While it's been "reported" multiple times by posters in this thread, those are "incorrect facts" based on people opinions and not on any Tax code or law I've read to date. What I did was I link the "INDIANA TAX LAW" code in my first post about what "INDIANA" is expecting from it's residents. Not one person who suggested that they "knew" (or what they "personally" believed) what EA was doing has yet to link an Indiana State or Federal law that suggest otherwise to back up their claim. Now are you a Tax lawyer and/or can point me to a different tax code? If so I would really love to hear why the Tax code I posted is either wrong or dated. But I also ask, or are you just guessing based on how you believe it works? Although if you are in fact a Tax lawyer, I would love to see the Indiana code (or Federal one that applies to Indiana) that suggest otherwise. But if you're not a lawyer or an accountant for Indiana Tax laws, personally I'd like to hear from EA on why they are doing it.
  8. The OP nor I ever suggested they were committing a felony. The only question we asked was "why they are suddenly doing it" since it's not supported by the laws of our state nor any "current" Federal Law. Now since some folks are obvious "fanboi's and girls" it always makes me giggle when they can't dispute facts they don't understand they suddenly get "humorous" as if that suddenly makes up for a complete lack of understanding on their part. And that's my stab at sarcasm if you missed it.
  9. Here's the Link from Yahoo: Possible Internet Sales tax Law But this law is for the transfer of "Physical Goods and Services" not just IP. But for the record EA\Origin started collecting this months "BEFORE" the law was even voted on. That's pretty advanced CYA if you ask me. Also It really amazes me how many people offer Tax Law facts as if they are either attorney's or work for online retailers facing this daily. I've read 3 pages of them so far and I'm tickled at what I'm seeing. I agree with the OP and also live in Indiana. They don't have a presence and for Indiana this is not for digital or tangible goods as defined by Indiana law. This type of service has always been exempt from taxes: Indiana's Intangible Tax Law Personally I'm also curious why states that have not been subject to tax laws are suddenly being subjected. Almost like it was easier to make everyone pay taxes with-in their system than just the ones who live in states who are required to pay them.
  10. Just checked, for the Republic on Corusant if you go to where the class trainers are underground, next to the class trainers all the low level PVP gear is still there for you to purchase for your characters with PVP comms. It's just not on the Fleet anymore, but is still available.
  11. True, but there's a flip side of it as well. Over the years I've been in a "quite a few" different guilds on different games and one thing remains a constant, players are only interested in playing this way as long as there is something in it for them. Allow me to explain..... When everyone is starting out, everyone wants to run the dungeon/raid/OP in question and there are plenty of people willing to do it. Once everyone has outfit themselves and every alt they want, they stop running it. Or worse, if you want to start running it, and the vast majority has already run all the "lower" Raids, no one wants to run a raid with you and what they deem you're wearing as "sub-par paper gear", even if 6 months ago they were also in the same gear before they upgraded it on the missions you're trying to now run. The earlier raids get you ready for the harder ones, but no one wants to run the earlier ones if they already have everything they need from that run. It's a waste of time to them. I PVP, but it's because I get the time and can do it at my leisure, but I also know that not everyone is me. But my middle of the road PVP gear isn't a match for the top tier RAID gear, and I don't have the time (or interest in begging or waiting for a RAID group for one to form) to run all the RAID missions to get there either. And before you start off with "Join a guild", just how many of you are actually in a guild and have suddenly "forgotten" how guild runs work? Most guilds have Ranks, regulars, some have Family and friends or irregulars that they include. The officers and regulars form the base teams and they always run. But they run together. If you're not on a base team (for fill in reason here) you have to wait for a opening to open. If there is a 16 man run to be run as a guild run and a guild with say 39 members, 32 of them get to run two 16 man missions, while the other 7 sit on the sidelines hoping to eventually rotate into the run. Some guilds are fairer than others, but basically they all still do the regulars run the RAID's more often than the newer players. Unless they are of a class that is in desperate need over another (say Tanks and Healers over DPS) But that's only while everyone is in needs the gear from that run. Often they are always prep'ing for the next hardest run, and no one forms groups for the lower level OP's with regularity, so you end up filling those runs with PUG's to get your gear up. And if you're really, really, fortunate to find one, you hope its with people who won't get you killed on a regular basis. But if your guild does have room for you on a run as a non-regular, its often "Mid run" after someone else has to pull out, but you're still expected to had watched every Youtube boss fight before you even came, whether you were to be given a chance or not, just to make everyone else's experience fun, even if you're just there as filler for the last 1/3 of the run. There are so many holes in the "Raiders get the best gear because they deserve it" argument that I can't believe that it's still being debated game after game after game.
  12. While I agree with this sentiment, I can't agree with it long term. By that I mean, if someone doesn't play for a year, two years, three years or etc, should a name sit claimed when even the people around them more than likely have forgotten who that character might have been that they played with all that time ago? Especially if they see that name on a low level character a year or so later? I agree that some *time* should be factored into to this for things like students, the deployed, etc. But there shouldn't be a glut of names sitting on forgotten characters that have not been played in years either. Otherwise you get things like "HanSolo358" on RP servers because all the names most players can think of are picked clean for any new players. Not to mention players who had to give up names on combined servers when their name of choice might not even be being played anymore on a server. It's a balancing job, but one I'd like to see worked out similarly to how COH/COV did it.
  13. Only cause I'm bored, but a question: switching between classes like the OP is asking about is "canon", riiigggghhhttt? Episode 2 of the Star War Movie, when Anakin and Dooku fight for the first time, at the 1:35 mark of the youtube clip I included, while Obi-Wan is down, he throws Anakin his saber (because up to that point he was only using a single saber) and Anakin does "ok" with both for a while before he gets owned. And in Episode 3 when he's older he takes Dooku's saber during the fight and then he uses the "2" of them to finish him off, right?? Episode II - 2:36 mark But Anakin is clearly a single bladed Jedi Knight during most other fights, but has used dual blades in fights when he wants too. And he's not the only Star Wars character I believe has done that. Switched back and forth I mean. Ok, Devil's Advocate mode off
  14. I wasn't going to comment, but I have to just say this based on you still defending this. In the analogy you just used you said: {snip} Let me turn it around, though. If the person in the next booth chooses not tip, do you think the the waiter/waitress should throw the customer out on his ear and never allow him back in the restaurant? Do you think the other customers should throw him out on his ear and browbeat him {snip} In the state I'm in we tip because it's the social norm, but I've never "not" tipped unless I got up and left the restaurant because the service was so bad that I didn't finish anything there. I just paid for what I used. Mainly because I know that the staff who works there has their salary adjusted "down" based on the fact the owners "expect" patron's to tip. That's just a fact of the industry. But, what I wanted to get at was this, once when the food was delivered to myself and a co-worker (who was visiting my office from New York) we found that his food wasn't cooked all the way through. So much that personally I couldn't have eaten it. When I suggested he send it back he emphatically said no. When I asked why he said that where he was from, if you routinely failed to tip or sent food back, the staff "would do stuff too anything that you ordered" so he didn't want to take the chance. So he ate around the uncooked parts of the food and still gave a tip. That's also the possibility of bucking the social norm. No they don't "boot you from the restaurant/group" but they may often do a little "rough justice" as well if your not careful and make a practice of doing this. So just like your analogy above, sure you don't "have to tip" and you don't "have to say anything to the someone who feels they don't have to tip the staff" but they better not make it a habit or the "staff" of some places will make it a point to get even either knowingly or "unknowingly". Knowingly is when the staff decides to give you "extremely" bad service because they know you're a dead beat and they are wasting their time on you when they could be earning their commission on someone who appreciates their service. "UN-knowingly" is when they don't even tell you how they got even and you may not "ever" know.
  15. Personally I find the comparisons funny because it tells me personally how old the gamer in question "may" be, or which game was most important to them. I've been playing myself since MUD/MUDD/MUSH days For example, you rarely hear anyone compare games to: AOL's Neverwinters Night - One of the first really graphic MMO's Meridian 59 - One of the first open PVP world games Ultima Online - Which was really the first "graphically" cheap to play, open world (ex: sandbox) game, with a structured crafting system Asheron's Call - One of the "ties" for replacement of UO. First truly "Open world environment" with no load screens between zone. Everquest - The other tie for replacement of UO. Created the first "true" raiding style guild because of the sheer requirements of "particular" classes you just "had to have" if you wanted to complete "anything" Dark Age of Camelot - Created first true "Realm vs Realm" combat that had the instance of stealing and holding other realms Frontier Keeps and relics that gave you access to a Dungeon with hard to find loot in it. Star Wars Galaxies - Originally had diverse classes and skills. You didn't need any "one" class, but it helped to have more. Open sand box world like UO and similar in crafting to it. Later added "Jump to light speed" for open space combat. Currently its all: World of Warcraft - Which took some of the above (part of AC's open "no loading screen" world, Everquest's dungeon raiding, and DAOC's open PVP) and rolled it all up into one. Didn't really do those things better than the other games, but provided some mix of those elements in one game And there are "Way" too many other MMO games that I left out, (like Planetside or Tribes with only a *few* MMO elements in them), but still, I love it when I hear the latest game getting compared to whatever a player has as their primary frame of reference.
  16. This statement reminds me of a quote I heard years ago when someone asked Ernest Hemingway how he went bankrupt. He said: It was slowly, and then all at once. If you have no concern over your finances you slowly lose money, but you don't know it. But by the time you do realize it, it's too late. Then you're in a hole and soon are completely broke while trying to play catch up. Personally I prefer to know where my money is leaking
  17. Excuse me say what now? Let me say this first off, I have 50's that are 6 of the 8 classes available. This isn't to brag but to make my next statement, it takes time to outfit 6 level 50's completely. Or at least well enough that they help a team and not be a burden on them. My two mains (which switch of playing) are my Jedi Guardian and my Commando Healer and this couldn't be more true for either of them. I will never forget a run with another Commando who was healing and I was doing DPS, and when the Tank comes in on a "Hard" Flashpoint run, in fresh blue Recruit gear from the PVP vendor you get once you reach 50 we all knew we were in trouble. That gear is "only" good for starting PVP so you don't get owned too badly, but "NOT" good for flashpoints. It's high on expertise and "not" on endurance or the other base stats. The group fell apart because there was no way the healer could keep him alive and the rest of us at the first door of the "Jedi Prisoner" where you have a room erupt on you. That paper Tank complained the healer wasn't any good because if he was "he could have healed through anything" including his crappy armor. That's the argument you're using here. That no one "need" gear to be better. Actually you're wrong. Better gear helps you hit harder, take less damage, heal better, do "more" damage, etc at the upper level FP. Other wise the end level vendor would all sell the same gear. PVP vendors would only have one tier not 3. But for you to argue that no one "needs" better gear they just want it, suggest to me that you've either never played the upper level content or you do and you make the poor healer devote more time to keeping you alive than he/she should need too.
  18. I smile at this because on run when this game first came out, either we didn't have a healer or we lost ours early on and one of the guys we were with asked if he should use his healing companion. Since we were stuck we were ok with it and we used that to complete the FP. What was funny though was that neither of us other two had any issue with him waning gear for his Companion since it was the companion at the time who helped us complete the Flashpoint.
  19. Yes and no. What you're trying to do is put all the blame on one side. If that's your plan, how hard is it to say "Hey I plan to roll need on gear my companion can use" from the start as well. That's what I do so that there isn't any hard feelings or misunderstandings. It's far easier to say "Hey from the start I said that's what I'm doing" than trying to say "why wouldn't I do that" if no one "knows" to expect it. That's why I just tell everyone when I roll for a companion, since I personally have no idea what's going on in their head.
  20. No, never said that and most folks aren't suggesting that you "do" that. What I'm saying, and not sure if I've stated correctly, is if you want it for a Companion just say "Hey that would work on Khem I'm rolling need on it" , and then someone else who has a companion who can wear the same gear may say "Hey that would also work on Lt Pierce for my Juggernaut" and then they roll need as well. That way "both" of you have an equal chance at getting it for your companion. Otherwise the one who rolls Greed for his companion is hosed because when you roll need you are guaranteed to get it no matter what over them. But if you're defending your right to not say "anything at all" and then need roll, and afterwards defend your right to have done that, that's just wrong. That defense just keeps everyone else from getting a equal chance at gear because a roll at 1 of "Need" beats a roll of 100 at "Greed" every time. Or you could just tell everyone at the start of the run to role need on everything and only abstain if you don't want anything. That also works. But players who roll need for companions without telling why shouldn't be surprised when others won't play or group with them when they do this. If you want to be fair just tell everyone what you're doing, don't stealth do it (not saying you are, but using the royal we and you).
  21. Hmmm, that's not what I get I guess. If you're character is there, and is healing as a Commando for example, and you see some gear that drops with Cunning on it. You can't immediately put it on and heal better to continue helping the group. At best you suddenly heal worse. But if you have a healing Companion that uses it "they" might heal better. Here's another way of looking at it. Most everyone would like to gear their companions better. And if given the chance would do so. But if you roll need on it, they assume you're actually going to wear it on the character your playing with. Other wise everyone should know up front you're rolling need for your companion so that "they" can roll need for their companions as well. If you don't say "I'm rolling need for my companions" and then you do, you've robbed them of a chance to also roll need for their companions. That's where the idea of ninja'ing loot comes from.
  22. Ok, I kinda mispoke (or mistyped), when I said how they voted. What i was trying to get at was the only time that I've ever seen that congress voted on a "language" was in the 1700 when German citizens petitioned to have laws published in German, in addition to the de facto way the laws were published in English. English was just "accepted" as offical before that. But then this was the first time anyone had questioned or requested anything other than what was just accepted. Nothing was ever set in the books during the creation of the constitution that stated what the official language was, thus the confusion around why laws couldn't be printed in other languages, and thus the federal request. Unlike other countries where there "is" a set national language. And to the best of my knowledge, and everything I researched, that was the only vote on a language on the Federal level , but I may be mistaken. I've not shifted through every federal record since 1776 either As far as English being the "Official" language of the Nation, nope on that front completely. Its only on a state level at present: Is English the official language of the US Trying to avoid getting into history so early in the morn, but sure I'm game
  23. Yep I know. I lost this bet a long time ago. I bet that English had always been the national language, and someone bet me that German was the closest they ever came to setting a standard. And I was a history major at the time and I didn't know this little known fact. So yes, I remember stuff like this, especially when you lose a bet like this in front of a large group of people
  24. Uhhhmmm, no. In the US only 28 of 50 states have ever come out and said that "English" is their official language. The last time they tried to decide on an official language for the country "German" almost won out over English. But as it stands, on a National or Federal level there isn't an official language, only an "unofficial" or "de facto" one. Look it up if you don't believe me
