  1. You should have stopped with "When the ball is thrown to a sniper."
  2. +1 The games I want to (and occasionally do) bail on are already lost. Not 0-1 lost, but 0-5 with 10 mins left. When games get to that point, who exactly am I "griefing" by leaving? The die-hards/armchair generals who throw hissy fits in Ops chat? My replacement has a valid argument, but that's on BW for encouraging medal farming rather than outright winning. When BW get their matchmaking act together, and turn Huttball back into an objective based game rather than a TDM "objectives optional", then maybe I'll enjoy all my Huttball games. Until then, I'll continue to leave farming sessions.
  3. "Pretty much this" but not this. The skill discrepancies in some WZs are huge. I'm not a hardcore PvP'er, so ending up on a team, staring across the field at pre mades from PvP guilds while I'm in a pug, already robs the round of any competitiveness. Ranked WZ and separate queues will sort this out though.
  4. Is it REALLY too much to ask that I have fun during WZs too?
  5. How about, "the other team won't let me lose because they want their medals, but I want to move on"?
  6. Wow, really? I would have gone for myopic loudmouths with an overwhelming need for control. Considering some of the arguments used (or the borderline abuse thrown around), I'm not entirely sure how "smart" they would be, either. If they were really smart, they'd campaign for TDM maps that aren't linked into dailies, so medal farmers can farm there, rather than turn a 5 min stomp into 15 mins of farming. I guess it's moot, since it's already in the pipeline.
  7. QFT The more I read threads on this topic, the more I realise how myopic this community actually is. Most only seem to want to treat the symptoms, rather than the cause. And for every one reasonable person who gives a valid argument for treating the symptom first, there are half a dozen "all you quitters/leavers should die" types. Bioware, please fix your PvP system first, to encourage people to PvP, rather than drive away those who are fed up with bugs/general non-competitiveness from one of the few things to do at 50. Once you have a stable, fair and enjoyable PvP setup, then worry about punishing habitual leavers/quitters.
  8. So what does that say about the vocal minority who whats to force people to endure 10 minutes of being medal farmed or not play at all?
  9. I do run premades, but they're few and far between due to scheduling playtime issues, but we all suck, and none of us are in decent (Champ etc) PvP gear etc, so I end up solo most of the time. By forum standards, I'd probably be a bad player, despite going for objectives and the like. The only matches I leave are 0-5 in 5 min Huttball games. Does my leaving affect 7 other people using the farming time as a TDM? No. It'll affect the guy who replaces me, but since most players (on my server, at least) treat HB as TDM, it's a gamble I'm willing to take. Am I part of the problem you and your ilk seem to be so vehemently against? Yes. Am I being punished for wanting to find a more even playing field, after the current game has been lost (but stubbornly refuses to end)? I'd say yes, but ymmv. When ranked WZs come in, and I'm queued against equally skilled players, and things are generally more competitive, maybe I'll queue up more often.
  10. So the options are (1) forcing ourselves to endure something we don't like; or (b) abstain from a large part of the game? An incredibly myopic viewpoint you have there, and one that is just as damaging as "oh, I'll leave WZs the moment it looks like we may (or may not) win" that some people seem to have.
  11. Rated WZs will go a long way to stopping quitting, imo. It's easy to compare quitters to the lowest of the low, or call them sore losers, but when there is no sense of competition (skill gulf or premades vs pugs), it just isn't fun to hang around to get stomped on and farmed for 15 mins. I'll gladly admit that I'm not the best PvP'er. Barely pub league quality, in fact. I'll also admit that I've quit one (just the one, for what it's worth on these forums) WZ. However, fun is fun. Give me a competitive, back and forth game on any WZ over some of the completely lop sided rounds of HB or CW, and this problem will go away.
  12. Solid start. Add in competitive matchmaking and it'll go a long way to fixing things.
  13. I do. Not often, but I do. The concern is over the punitive measures that BW are going to take with leavers/quitters/whatever the official term is. Given the track record, it'll probably be half baked and won't do a damned thing to fix any of the myriad of reasons people leave for.
  14. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the best PvP'er around, but sometimes, the skill/coordination difference in WZs is so great, that there's nothing to learn because you're not alive/in control long enough to learn anything. Adding cross server queues (separate ones for pugs and pre mades), along with something like TrueSkill would go a long way to keep things competitive. Failing that, I'd like a way out without any more punishment than losing the valour/comms I would have received. Except both sides in your scenario are paid professionals representing the best their country has to offer. However, when a pug gets matched against a pre-made, it's often like asking the Argentinian national team to bring their A game to face off against the local pub team consisting of fat blokes who can barely pass. That was so loaded, it may just go off with a bang if I look at it funny. When "insurmountable odds" mean a pre-made on a farming trip to feed their ego, I'd gladly take the latter.
  15. You're kidding, right? But then again, with the state of many things in the game, it makes total sense that the devs don't know jack about their own product. If this truly is how they see Huttball, then change the win condition of the WZ or the daily/weekly requirement to reflect that it's TDM.
  16. Ofc, it's a L2P issue. As a sniper, maybe I should start running the ball instead of harassing the ball carrier and healers? Tips? If you want me to acknowledge your superiority in skill, I'm willing to do that by giving you the win, but being forced to hang around isn't fun for me. Is it so wrong fold when you know you've lost the hand? More power to all of those who enjoy being farmed. I don't count myself in that number.
  17. Why should BW punish people who don't want to be farmed for 10 mins? Add a "you win" vote command which will end the WZ; the winners win and the losers don't get farmed.
  18. Random question: would it be hard to implement a system similar to TrueSkill? Match up against similarly skilled (or unskilled as the case may be) players? In addition to having PUG vs PUG, it would go a long way to ending 5 min stomp games (which, afaik, is one of the major reasons people quit), wouldn't it?
