  1. I'm all about logic in pvp. What do you mean?
  2. No one's even commenting on the Powertech being the only dps over 1 million?
  3. Have you ever tried rooting them? Here, try this. Spec into the force wave root in lightning/telekinetics, then if you see that jugg/guardian leaping to you to smash (which has a 3m range and is easily avoidable), just knock him back, and lulz at him for being rooted for 8 seconds. and then when he's out of it, slow him and kite away. And then kite some more, and then kite some more. if he charges, force speed, if he obliterates, force wave. Honestly, try some different tactics other than LOL PVE DPS rotation. PvP is different, you cant just stand there and free cast, not with melee in the game.
  4. First of all, tank spec doesn't get really good as far as damage goes until level 40ish at your level I would do something like this which should up your damage quite a lot. You get increased melee critical chance, a spammable dot using force technique, a 30m ranged aoe in Force in Balance, an extra 50% surge in double strike, and a proc'd burst shadowstrike that ignores armor, and costs 25 force. Try that out, make use of your force slow, kite them around, and you'll like your damage numbers a lot better. An alternative to that would be an infiltration spec, but I'm not a fan of spec's heavily reliant on stealthing in warzones because if the enemy team is decent enough, you wont hardly get to stealth at all.
  5. I can get 10 in 2 Minutes on ACW, if I'm defending a turret and get attacked a lot. Defender medals up to lke 5000 I think which is 3, killing blow medal, solo kill medal, 2.5k hit medal, 2k defense in 1 life, 5k defense, 10k defense in 1 life, and possibly solo kill or the offense medal if they take the node and i have to get it back.
  6. I love 23/1/17. It's less survivable than a face tank 31/0/10, but it's also much more bursty. I can't tell you how many times, in my full BM/WH chest/saber I've just straight burned down a healer because of back to back particle acceleration procs.I'll go in and FIB, force breach, double strike (PA proc), Force Potency-Project, double strike(PA proc), Project again with my 2nd stack of Force potency, upheaval usually proc's on the 2nd one consuming the 3rd, and double strike, spinning strike to finish. What they see is 2.5k(FIB), 600(FB), 1200,1250(DS crits), 3019(project crit), 1205,1290(doublestrike again), 3148, 1500(project crit w/upheaval) 4201(spinning strike. and each one of those numbers is a GCD. Now this isn't particularly impressive as I don't have optimal gear, just stock BM, stock WH weapon, Aug'd WH stalker chest with end/power, and a columi earpiece just because, but still, even if they try and heal, I can silence, and then they try again, and I can spinning kick, and they try again, knockback, and they try again, force pull, and they try again, force stun/insta lift (depending on CD uptime) If I have all of my skills available to me, I can lock a single caster down for at least 40 seconds, which is more than enough time to 1. Kill them through heals and 2. Prevent them from healing anyone but themselves. So yeah, 23/1/17 is nice
  7. I love general chat for when I'm defending grass like a boss and I'm bored because no one's attacking. so I try to make conversation with my team, and they ignore me, so I make conversation with general chat. Socialize bro, it's good for you!
  8. Nerfing healing Sc/ops is exactly the same as removing that advanced class from the game. Right now the only people playing Sc/ops are healing spec, except for the 1 or 2 outliers that are still conc/scrapper and if they're conc/scrapper you don't have to worry about them unless they vastly outgear you. Vastly.
  9. Guarded damage bypasses shield, but not armor. Flat mitigation cooldowns should affect guard damage, as does defense. Shield/absorb do not however. The problem with guard is that it's not mitigated properly, as is the case with a lot of pvp damage. That's the reason you see so little tanks in tank gear, because having tank stats means you don't have damage stats, and your tank stats do very very very little to stop damage in pvp. As it goes, the only really useful stats for tanks are health pools, armor, and defense. Any other stat on your armor should be modded with power, crit and surge.
  10. I did a job for a client recently, and they had a room completely devoted to testing their lasers. (stage light/sound/video company) I mentioned that my cat would seize up and die if he went in there, and the IT manager commented how some of the techs sometimes get so distracted by the lasers that they stop working. Anyways, amusing anecdotes aside, I've taken the liberty of color coding some of the mistakes in just that one post, to sort of give you an idea about what I meant in option number 1.
  11. I thought of several ways to reply to this hilarious thread. I shall list them for you. 1. Going through, quoting each and every one of Ost's posts and correcting the horrendous use of the english language he seems to be so keen on unleashing. 2. Commenting on how if he's so pissed at having fail tanks, to fucking spec tank his own damn self and guard whoever the fuck he want's to. Yes, sir. You are a powertech, you have a tank spec. Get off your railshot infused high horse and take responsibility if you disagree with the way tanks behave in pvp. 3. Actually posting a constructive post based on facts and data that would be obviously ignored and called gibberish by a man-child that got hold of the internet and can't handle when the big bad tank doesn't like him. Like how if you're such a fan of protection being thrown around a warzone like condoms on a college campus, how about you throw your taunts out and keep him alive longer, so that he sees that you're a competent player and maybe guards you. if you're taunted by someone, you do 30% less damage to everyone but the person who taunted you. By the way, a college is an institute of higher learning that you might consider attending to get rid of your disgusting lack of respect for the language you speak. 4. posting a funny cat pic. I chose 4.
  12. I've read a lot about the Sirocco build, that's mostly infiltration but with some Balance thrown in for force in balance (30m 3 person aoe that hit's fairly hard) and instant force lift (which is a must have for most serious pvp builds), but still has lots of the fun bursty things that infiltration brings to the table minus Clairvoyant strike (which is the main reason infiltration builds don't work, because that animation is as bad for shadows as the green laser for commando healers) I'd check that one out when you get to 50. I really just didn't have any luck with infiltration, the balance spec fit more to my playstyle, and when I got to 50 I switched to the 23/1/17 spec which is just incredible
  13. If evidence leads to their orders, then I'll follow them. If they just say "Everyone zerg right." And I notice no defenders on left, being a hybrid shadow with insta force lift, I'll go left rq, find their stealth defender, sap him, start to cap, he breaks the sap and then gets instant force lifted, I plant the bomb, and we move on. Generally, if it doesn't work on the first try, I'll head back to the zerg and continue the fight. It rarely doesn't work though.
  14. If being firm and reasonable with people worked, then I wouldn't get frustrated and end up yelling. You act like me raging at some mouthbreather is my first response, such is not the case. It's when people do the wrong **** over...and over..... and over.... and over.... that's when I get a little frustrated, then they do it again, and I get mad. Then they seem to do it on purpose because I'm saying "Hey, it's a better idea to not hit the floating people, as that causes them to gain control of their character again." so they're like "LULZ HES CC'D A GUY AND TRYING TO CAP! (AUTOATTACK) LOL!" /trolldance That's when I start to lose it.
  15. Guard = death sentence for a tank. 'Nough said. I'll taunt/peel all you want, but unless you say these exact words "Hey Logic'al, stick guard and taunt on me and I'll make sure we both stay alive" You can deal with full damage. edit: I will probably throw guard on you for a few seconds in between taunts to reduce damage, but it wont stay there.
  16. That's all well and good, but if I take the time at the beginning of every voidstar to explain to people how a voidstar is won, and if they decide to take my advice/orders seriously, and if they implement my advice/orders correctly, and we win a voidstar, should that not be a sign that "Hey, maybe this guy knows what he's talking about. His strategy worked!" Also, if I do exactly that, but instead of taking my advice/orders seriously, they do w/e the fuck they want and we lose the voidstar match, why is it all of a sudden bad or wrong for me to get frustrated and speak to the team in a belligerent way?
  17. I like to think that PT/VG are OP for the same reason that others think they are OP, in that if you don't get the first hit, or even sometimes when you do, you're pretty much boned. I've gone up against a lot of powertech's that just ate my lunch, even though I did everything I could to stop them. That being said I do feel like if I can properly fight one in a 1v1 situation, I could come out the victor about 75% of the time. For instance, yesterday I got into a scuffle with a PT that started like this. HUTTBALL: Running towards the imp ball carrier after dying. Already used force speed, have about 15s left on cooldown. Everything else is up besides force cloak which isn't a dealbreaker for me. I drop down to the mid level ramp towards the first acid pit and notice that I just lost 30% of my hp. Slightly confused, I look behind me and see a PT up on the top ramp, as he was concealed by the fire trap. me: -a wild enemy spotted!- "Engage." >:| initiate force pull! --> Spinning kick, start dps. Whack him a few times, crit project procs, force potency, and boom, 3k project, double strike crits 1500 each hit for another 3k, proc's crit project again, boom another 3k project, with a 1500 upheaval. 15k damage in quite a short time. He pops his DR shield, and I could sense he was about to pop his 4s stun so I resilience in preparation. drop a force in balance for another 2.5k crit ( I have a lot of crit, but not a lot of power :\ stupid stock battlemaster) he has about 3k hp left because he's full aug'd war hero, and I have about 7k left because of I dunno what. In the global cooldown between the force in balance and my execute, he rail shot me for 6.8some odd thousand damage, and his dot finished me off. I was upset, but as I started off that fight getting hit for 5k, I wasn't even mad. The way I see it, if he hadn't gotten the drop on me, he'd have gotten wasted.
  18. It's not that they don't try. It's that they don't think about what they do before they do it. They treat pvp players like a group of mobs in pve. They have no concept of CC, how it works, and why it's necessary. And when I have a carefully thought out and practiced way of doing things that most all of the time works, and some mouth breather who doesn't belong in a warzone goes and screws everything up because he has no desire to learn WHY not to do things that I'm yelling at him about, he deserves a little verbal abuse. If I were to coddle to him and go "Hey, its okay that you did that but in the future, try not to because its the complete opposite thing you were supposed to do." They would be like "oh, ok well I don't REALLY need to change because it's ok even if I screw everything up and lose the game." NO! It's not okay. You're prohibiting people from progressing because your dumb *** is too busy trying to get your 5k hit medal to pay attention to your surroundings. So yes, I'm gonna get mad, and I'm gonna yell, and you're gonna be like "wow, that guy is a dick. But why is he so mad? All I did was hit the only guy guarding the objective out of CC and cause him to interrupt the plant/cap/whateverthefuck. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do.... hmmm."
  19. I admit, I will talk down to players. If you see a guy with full resolve floating in the air while your teammate is POINT FOUR SECONDS away from arming the first bomb 15 seconds into the first round, be a dear and DONT FUCKING FORCE LEAP TO HIM! THATS A BAD FUCKING IDEA! Or my favorite, is when I mind maze someone who I watched blow their escape about 30 seconds prior to this engagement, I maze him, force lift his friend, and boom, start capping a turret. Then some asshole gunslinger drops a flyby on top of both of them! Why is it so hard to not break CC? I probably wouldn't have raged so hard if they weren't both in the same game. Then there's the classic sage healer/gunnery commando sitting on top of the friendly end zone in huttball healing/grav rounding down into the pit when the ball carrier is a juggernaut/marauder/tank powertech. Or tunneling 1 class that attacks your turret and runs away trolololing while you follow his *** and the stealther he brought with him ninja's it out from under you. It's just when people do the shit that is exactly the wrong thing to do in that very situation every time they come to it, I have a hard time not letting them know about their failure in a sometimes mean and hurtful way. But don't fucking do that shit damnit!
  20. You also forgot Shadow's awesome spinning kick animation versus assassins janky hesistative Spike animation.
  21. The AoE taunt has a 15m range. So only enemies within 15m of your character will be taunted.
  22. Project is not as effective in Balance as you might think. Yes, it does give the Twin Disciplines, but that's it's only saving grace as it uses almost half your force. While this doesn't seem bad if you just use it once and rely on Force in Balance + dots to give your force back, but it should only be used every 20 seconds to refresh the twin disciplines buff, and then only situational, meaning you don't have another more important skill to use at the time. Also the Infiltration Tactics buff is useful for burst, but only when fully buffed. Meaning you should only use shadow strike if 1. Infiltratiopn tactics is up. 2. You have crit with a force ability granting increased melee critical chance 3. You have the red Warzone buff increasing your damage and 4. You have Twin Disciplines going. If one of those is missing, use double strike instead. You will do just as much damage with less force cost due to the extra 50% surge talent. But yes, I do agree that balance is a retardedly good damage spec. Tank's who ignore you thinking "oh, a shadow, my armor/damage reduction can handle him" will absolutely melt. If that tank is guarding a healer that you're focusing, it's even more devastating to put dots on him, then put dots on his guarded healer, and then force in balance them both. HP drops so fast that when you start interrupting that healers casts, they drop like bass in dubstep. Hard.
  23. Yeah, scoundrels can just crouch cover. doesnt provide damage redux, but you can definitely go to cover right where you're standing. Maybe try making a sc/op and try it out before stating random bull shyte as fact?
  24. Because no one wants a shadow :\ Despite the fact that I do very well, both doing damage, tanking, tanking while doing damage, taunting, pulling, pushing, capping objectives, scoring huttballs, planting bombs, solo capping turrets against "the best guild on the server" because they thought they could solo defend right and the ******* broke my mind maze and got insta force lifted while I capped it. All that, and yet I still can't get invited to a ranked team, because 1. I'm a shadow. 2. I'm not full war hero augmented (which is why I want to do ranked, so I can get full WH aug'd) and 3. Performing well, no matter the circumstances, doesn't mean **** to teams, unless your advanced class starts with Van, Sent, Guar, or Sawbones Scoundrel.
