  1. I used to say that what WoW was missing was any sense of my impact upon the world. I played it for years anyway, mostly as a social connection, until the day I quit cold turkey. In many ways, SWTOR got some of that right, with a significant amount of phased content, companion relationships that really make sense and change as you progress, and orange custom gear. Good on you! That said, I recently hit a wall where I just don't want to log in. We've started raiding, and that's about the same as the WoW raiding experience. An iteration, not a revolution. I thought picking a sniper would give me something different with the cover mechanic, but I largely feel like the moonkin I was in WoW. My bad on choosing a character designed to sit still, maybe. I saw this link today on the housing in EQ II vs Aion and man, I got so jealous. I don't even want to play those games, but I want THAT customization. I can't even invite my guild onto my ship so we can travel together! Penny Arcade made a recent comic that really resonated with me - SWTOR just isn't different enough, mechanics-wise, to hold my attention. The advanced class idea was great, but the trees are stolen right out of WoW, with no structural difference at all. The issues with types of damage have been raging for years. Pre-beta, I thought combat was going to be at least a little like Tera - that you could actually physically dodge missiles and such, action style. Instead, I have the same ol button bars. Anyway I'm just some guy, doesn't mean much, except that I was a champion of SWTOR since we first started hearing about it. I played as much of the beta as I could, I created a reasonably active guild and convinced many of my friends to start playing... and I'm bored. I maxed my professions without really understanding how REing works, I tried the GTN until discovering it was awful and largely led me to wasting my money and time. I finished my favorite companion quests, which I loved just as much as the operative quests (yay, best part of the game!). I loved the rakghoul thing (except for the whole "why does everything have to have zombies in it?" thing), but it's gone and nothing took its place. I hit a wall where everything I have left to do in the game largely reminds me of this other game I stopped playing when I stopped having fun with it. So I don't know if that's useful to the developers or not - I almost feel bad for not enjoying it as much as I should, but it's been two weeks since I wanted to log in. I'm pretty sure I'm going to hand guild leadership off to one of my officers shortly. Good luck, I honestly hope the best for you all and the game. ------------------
  2. I am really enjoying the Legacy 'arrangement', where I can choose to connect my characters, but it seems incomplete - I want two married couples that are adversaries with each other, but it just won't allow so many connections without children. Moreso, no one can see our carefully designed legacy! Are you planning to add more to the design (not just the bonuses) of the Legacy system?
  3. Being encouraged not to play neutral or near neutral makes me think that the developers (no offense to them) have very simple viewpoints for their characters. When I started my Imperial Agent on Day 1 of the post-beta, I intended to make one bad-*** evil 007 type dude. As I quested, I found that sometimes, I just couldn't make those decisions, in character, and I thought that was AWESOME - I mean, this game just CHANGED my perspective of the guy I was playing, and through my natural inclination to take the Long View as an agent of the Empire, I ended up playing neutral. I'm not asking for a special reward or even special gear, I just want equivalent gear available for people who reach level 50 without going, say, further than light 1 or dark 1. It could be based on how many points you have - I have 4500 and -4600, approximately. Don't make me hunt down all the datacron crystals and otherwise scrounge for neutral items. Worse, the Legacy system really makes me feel like a j*****s for not going Dark V. I know that the devs plan on adding in a more in-depth grey side experience, and I definitely appreciate that. That said, this is bumming me out _now_, and making me less eager to play my gimped agent. Please throw us a bone now, and we will happily wait for something more elaborate later on down the line.
  4. Protocol Droid E7-H4 suggested I post this feedback into the forums, and who am I to deny E7-H4? I can't seem to have two characters with the same relationship (adversary, for instance) to my main character. I really, really want to have my legacy be characters of the same generation, and that has limited me very much. For instance, I want two opposing couples, married but antagonists, or at least a married couple who are antagonists to my main character. I know no one can even see this legacy connection (gosh, I wish it had some visibility somehow) but it would make me much happier w/ Legacy!
  5. Go to their booths to get a tauntaun pet, black and white.
  6. It would be super awesome to see the legacy names of our guildies in the guild list. This could be mediated by whether the person has legacy name on or off for a given alt. That would help me keep track of who is who, alt-wise, so much easier!
  7. So, we can't sit down, we can't 'talk' as such to each other, most NPCs don't interact with each other, let alone us unless it's in a cutscene, the majority of the emotes (like sleep) don't have actions attached to them ... What will you be doing to make the game more immersive?
  8. I'd love to see panels at conventions, specifically: A panel on decisions in star wars - How they affect your storyline, whether and how they could affect your character beyond alignment, etc. A panel on world events A panel on RP, ways to improve RP experiences (particularly on RP worlds) A UI Q & A, especially - so we can ask questions about signage, about the tutorial system, about flight points or other travel, about combat. I'd love a place where I could mention that I was level 30 before I realized that I could buy a relic at the alignment vendor - I assumed they just came later in the game, because they weren't built into any of my quests. I would totally come to a meet and greet in my area, and even in the area of other major events (like PAX). I've had a lot of fun with the people on my server, and I'd love to meet them in person.
  9. From a Google+ comment: Evil isn't being pragmatic in order to get gold. Evil is "I got what I wanted, but you were snarky to me in the process so now I'll kill you, your family, and everyone who ever knew your name."
  10. I wouldn't exactly call the Emporer's route the 'easy' path to power. While the dark side does seem to ultimately be about wanting power at any cost, I wouldn't say it's about being lazy. And more to the point, playing a lazy character that gets made fun of for making decisions to be darkside isn't fun to play, regardless of how "canon" that might be. To put it another way, I can't imagine anyone working their way up through the empire allowing a significantly weaker adversary to live after mocking them.
  11. So I have played this Black Death quest two ways, first as a Bounty Hunter (who often chose light-side, unless he had no respect for someone) and then as an Imperial Agent who has made his bed, and intends to make the most of being the James Bond of the Empire. Light Side options are awesome: , and he is -quaking- in his -boots-. Dark-side, though, you start off threatening him, and Suddenly, he is completely contemptuous. At this point, you're left saying to yourself, "Why did I let him live, again? I want to go back and reverse that decision." And this is my problem with playing Dark Side in general, at least as an IA - It doesn't generally result in fear or awe from the NPCs so much as disgust, irritation, contempt, etc, at least on Hutta. The bottom line is, that isn't very fun. It makes me feel like the game or game designers are judging me for making the choice to play dark side. What do you guys n gals think? Is it different beyond Hutta, is it just an IA thing, or am I just reading too much into it?
