  1. i unsubscribed shortly after the longer cd on backblast. i just no longer found the rotation fun. it became so long and boring and with the fun i once had with my scrapper i could no longer just reroll another class. i come back every so often hoping bioware will fix how boring the scrapper is now but as time goes by i see that isn't going to happen. so i guess i will continue playing d3 until guild wars 2 is finally released. bioware had a great opportunity and they blew it.
  2. i was a scrapper from the the end of beta till a few weeks ago. i basically just quite playing the game because it was no longer fun. pvp felt like a grind even worse than other games and the dps rotation with the last changes made it very slow and boring. it just wasn't fun anymore. was just logging on here to see if things were any different but doesn't appear so.
  3. nice i was getting frustrated with getting plenty of medals but with only like 20 commendations. turning the grind of getting pvp gear almost unbearable and just saying forget pvp.
  4. sadly i went sawbones myself. at one point scrapper was my favorite spec that i've play in any game. swg, wow, etc. but sadly the increased cd on backblast made the rotation very annoying and boring even more so than healing (which i decided i would not heal cause i found healing in wow very boring) though tbh i'm really liking the heal style of scoundrel with the fact that you have several heals that you can do while moving.
  5. sithwarrior.com has a good database of talent builds, rotations, etc. not saying its perfect but its a good starting place. http://mmo-mechanics.com/swtor/forums/Thread-Scoundrel-Operative-DPS-Compendium
  6. nice thread wish i had known of this info long ago. one question i do have is for pve purposes (since aside from expertise goals stat weighting i would think would basically be the same) is it still ideal to make sure to keep the 35% crit with self buff?
  7. the big problem is that the nerfs not only nerfed the problems but they nerf everything else about the class as well. as they do in patch on the ptr. bw not only nerfs the burst the class does but nerfs all the dmg. to start with the nerf the dmg done by our out of stealth ability and also nerfs the armor pen we get. then in the latest round of nerfs they not only nerf our backblast ability. they nerf our sucker punch as well. on live (at least for me) it is still a challenge to beat other classes cause aside from the dmg we do right out of stealth we are a at a huge disadvantage compared to other classes considering all they have to do is never let us get behind them. now even if we do get behind them it won't because of such a longer cd and our only other decent dmging ability will do much less dmg. backblast change (though annoying and unnecessary) might be easier to take if they didn't nerf the dmg from suckerpunch as well. but bw is good at overdoing changes. bw is not being smart about making changes. when you make tons of changes all at once except for small balances you are going to upset and frustrate people. this is beyond the i'm upset due to not doing what i used to be able to. if bw continues this path they will lose a ton of subscribers and this game will die. which if that happens it will be sad. this game has so much potential, but the people running the game are really blowing it big time.
  8. well i am still new to idea gear stats. didn't realize till last couple of days that stacking power is basically the way to go due to power giving more benefit than cunning and expertise losing value past a certain point. question is with the changes on value of expertise is losing the expertise from 2 pieces of gear going going decrease our dmg over the extra like 16% crit with backblast. i would still think the 2 piece pve gear would be better but i could be wrong.
  9. problem is (at least in wow this was the case) the logic went that a hybrid (anything that could theoretically tank or heal should not do as much dmg as a "pure" dps class. i don't agree with this logic but it is what it is. it wold explain why bw is concerned about the healing ability of scoundrels and why like sage dps got nerfed as well as scoundrels, but many "pure" dps classes got few nerfs if any. though some hybrids apparently got mostly untouched like shadows.
  10. hm so not a big increase as dirty fighting over scrapper spec. maybe scrapper will still be viable in operations after all.
  11. main outrage is if you don't kill them in the beginning and it lasts any length at all your pretty much screwed. energy might be better but what do we use it for since most of our abilities will be on cd. pvp it could be ok. but it will definitely hurt operation sustained dps. so for those who like to dps operations as a scoundrel it is frustrating.
  12. if you want to dps and never heal and you don't mind being from ranged gunslinger is probably the way to go. i have just always liked the idea of having a mix of ranged abilities and melee abilities being both important in dps rotation. i probably should have stuck with jedi shadow like i was originally going to, but I fell in love with smuggler too much. I decided on scoundrel because of dpsing from melee range and I loved it aside from bw doing its best to destroy the class. I definitely should just reroll a gunslinger and maybe i still will even as much as i love using 1 pistol and a shotgun.
  13. funny part when the topic came up about scoundrel dps he said something like how scoundrel's were within 5% of sentinels and somehow sentinels get a huge buff and we get a nerf? that makes sense right?
  14. i might could have gone along with some of the changes like the longer cd on backblast that would do more dmg; even though it would make the rotation more boring. it would be like ok they want to get rid of some of the burst. then why reduce the dmg on sucker punch by quite a bit as well as remove the 3% increased dmg to targets with a bleed on em. this definitely lowers the sustained dmg of a scrapper. it is just more of the same bw likes nerfing things without really giving much back. there is only so much of this kind of stuff one could take. i was quite close to either quitting the game or rerolling to maybe a gunslinger so those who go that route i can't blame in the least. maybe i should still just go the route of the gunslinger. guess the only thing holding me back is i've had so much fun playing a scrapper. so i guess deep down i hope bw changes these notes or all other dps got nerfed just as hard to give me the option of sticking with dpsing as scrapper. but from the looks of it we got hit harder than other classes at least in to relation on how we did compared to other classes. and the hope of bw changing the patch there have been pointed out problems with the patch and yet bw didn't change those patches so what is the likely chance they will this time. bw seems to get very much set in their ways that research says this and we can't be wrong. i hope i'm proven wrong. i really really do. if i am i will be greatly relieved. then again i have a tendency to hope for the impossible.
  15. yeah early on its looking like if you want to pvp you heal. if you want to dps operations you go dirty fighting. and if you want a worthless spec for either roll scrapper. hopefully things won't be as bad as a i expect but i won't hold my breath
  16. a ton of people play those over powered classes so more people are having fun; its basically a we are a minority so we are screwed.
  17. don't believe so. i just ended up leveling a scoundrel on the ptr at least to level 10 so i could see the exact talents in the trees.
  18. as far as i know the only nerf to dot crits is the loss of the 2% tech crit from dirty fighting tree. with the diminishing returns rate and how high crit already was (at least it was for me) i don't see the viability of dirty fighting really dropping that much versus how it was before. from what i can tell the rotation for dirty fighting gets a bit smoother with the longer cd of backblast (though still a bit of a dps loss) you lose a little dmg from pistol whip and the spec becomes a bit more energy efficient with hemorrhaging blast no longer having an energy cost. so thats 10 less energy your spending every 15 secs. so it would seem to be the spec is basically as viable as it is currently and for operations it does fine. not that it makes me want to play the spec any more than i do now but i might not have much of a choice the way things are looking.
  19. sucker punch started off with a 10% nerf but even with the turn the tables talent talent further up in the tree sucker punch only increases the dmg by 4%. that means it is still a nerf of 6%. this is without taking into account that we completely lost the talent that increases our dmg by 3% against targets with a bleed on em. the blaster whip decrease is 2% if you spend both points and same with decrease of 2% crit. with the back blast change and the talent that is an increase on the total dmg by 9% (6% if you factor in the loss of the 3% dmg against bleeding targets). question is with the fact that the cd on back blast got increased by 4.5 secs how much dmg do we actually gain with the changes to back blast. sucker punch definitely goes down same with blaster whip. so as best as i can tell: sucker punch does 9% less dmg, blaster whip does 5% less dmg, and back blast does 6% more dmg with a 4.5 sec longer cd. sounds like a massive nerf to me. honestly i'm hoping i'm completely wrong and its not as bad as it seems. even with all the previous nerfs i tried to play the spec cause i've always found the spec fun to play, but if i am right and the changes go to live like they are right now. i won't have the option to play this spec because i'll be gimping my guild's operation group. so as a result i'll either have to go dirty fighting build or reroll. neither option really appeals to me.
  20. sadly i fell in love with my scoundrel in the beginning and though it was frustrating after the previous nerfs i still found a way to enjoy my scoundrel, but this last wave of nerfs was the last straw for me. if the changes go live as they are currently which tbh i don't expect to really change. it has been pointed out before the problems with proposed changes and even solutions that would work better if implemented and yet bw never changes what they put on the ptr. i tend to be reasonable and not the type that the world is falling, but i have been unimpressed by the the changes the designers have implemented not to mention customer support that I have contact with. i'd almost be tempted to just quit the game, but i have several friends who play the game who i have fun with. so i guess really the only option i have is to a reroll a gunslinger and hope that one day dpsing with my scoundrel will become viable again.
  21. at one time i had cybertech as my crafting profession and dropped it due to the mods/armoring enhancements being inferior to ones you could get through pvping and running operations. I ended up picking up armormech which looks to be a smart choice based on the crafting changes with augments in 1.2. Hopefully though they will allow cybertech profession to create better or at least on par with the highest level of mods.
  22. as it stands now it looks like augments for armor pieces will be synthweaving and armormech with making augments will be synthweaving and armstech. it would seem to make sense for armstech and artifice be able to make weapons with augment slots or an item to make augment slots into an item as well as be able to make augments (due to less pieces of gear that they can make). and then for synthweaving and armormech make armor with augment slots. really don't think at least for now that they will allow for items to be used to create augment slots. bioware seems to like a luck based system. and to get a useable item by chance from crafting a random piece of gear seems kinda silly. really hope they do something with the cybertech profession. seems kind of like a pointless profession with the mods that you can craft being inferior to the ones you get from pvp/doing operations
  23. the gear looks horrible. the helm looks the worst but even like the gloves looked very blocky. the colors also were very hideous. will this set stop most smugglers from playing their characters? probably not, but what it will do is is the set will not be used by i would expect 90% of the population. the set would be more like a resource to get good mods etc. from and that would be it. i would think that a game would take pride their work. they would want people to be impressed by the quality of their work. so it would make more sense to go along with the lines of creating gear that people would actually like and wear. at least if they actually believe their statements of this being the fan's game.
  24. I ended up going with cunning as high as i can and then stack the crit as high as I could. Surge typically comes by default with crit. Currently I have self buff 41% crit. I actually probably should get rid of some crit and get power due to diminishing returns, but haven't done that yet.
  25. I went with Risha. Something about her being sassy that turns me in. After I basically got married to her I built a relationship with Akkavi and then made for a confrontation between the 3 of us forcing me to make a decision which is hot in and of itself.
