  1. The Mandalorian code is called the Resol'nare. It contains six precepts. 1. Wear armor as a sign of your identity 2. Speak the language (Mando'a). 3. Defend yourself, your clan and your family 4. Raise your children in the Mandalorian tradition 5. Contribute for the good of your clan 6. When called upon by the Mand'alor, rally to his cause The current state of Mandalorian culture in SWTOR is in something of an upheaval. It has been since the end of the Mandalorian wars. Many Mandalorians have left their clans to seek their own fortune as mercenaries and bounty hunters. Thus, they have in essence broken with the Resol'nare and their Mandolorian heritage and become what the Mandalorians call dar'mande--a soulless state of being outside of Mandalorian society for those who are ignorant of their heritage. To become dar'manda is one of the greatest shames a Mandalorian can bring about himself. To answer your question whether Mandalorians would mind that you execute innocent people for credits, then it depends. If your sole motivation is credits then yes, because doing so would make you a slave to coin with no honor to your name. Not because of the act itself. If you do so in order to advance the standing or objectives of your clan, then it is another matter, because you are acting in accordance with the Resol'nare. Then it would likely be accepted. Mandalorian culture is very diverse, because Mandalorians are recruited from all over the galaxy and from every race that can fight and wield a weapon. Because there are so many diverse cultural backgrounds that come into play, some interpret the Resol'nare differently than others. Part of this is a result of the massive recruitment drive led by Cassus Fett's Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars, when the Mandalorians aggressively assimilated and integrated conquered planets and races into their culture. To call yourself Mando'ade, you must remain knowledgable and respectful towards your cultural heritage. If you are not, then you are dar'manda and they have no use or respect for you.
  2. I don't really see how the faction system makes it impossible for a group to be neutral. We are not openly hostile towards the Empire (nor the Republic), we merely do not work for them. We work to advance our own interests. Every once in a while those interests may coincide with the Empire's and we will work with them. The faction system obviously prevents us from mounting a direct challenge to the Empire or to Mand'alore. But we are nowhere near ready (nor are we ever really likely going to be) to do so, regardless. We do not have the numbers or the strength. So, we simpy stay out of the way, keep to ourselves and focus on recruitment and conversion.
  3. Along with some others on the Trask Ulgo EU RP server, I have noticed that there appears to be a distinct lack of a Mandalorian Guild. The ones that are up and running are essentially mercenary guilds. With help, I have therefore taken it upon myself to rectify this by attempting to form a Mandalorian clan, which seeks to preserve, protect and spread Mandolorian culture. Since a true Mandalorian is subject only to himself, his clansmen and his heritage and neither coin nor politics, the clan will be independant and serve neither Empire nor Republic but rather a Mandolorian agenda. The idea, is to attempt to advance Mandolorian culture (language, tradition) and to fight many of the misunderstandings held by people who are not familiar with the lore. We are not a Boba Fett-imitation crowd. Rather, we seek to explore what it means to be Mandalorian. Especially at a time when many of the tribe have lost their cultural heritage and taken up work as mercenaries, which makes for a very compelling canvas on which to paint. After all, what do you do when you sense your cultural heritage is dying? The clan would be strongly traditionalist and modelled on the Crusader (in terms of traditions) and Neo-Crusader (in terms of recruitment) movements in Mandolorian society. To us, being a member of the Mando'ade is about more than wearing cool armour and behaving like a tough guy. It is about a cultural identity that has been lost in the wake of the Mandalorian Wars. If you are interested in helping to set this up, please post a message here, send me a message or contact Caedan in game.
  4. Since I haven't really come across any, I was wondering whether anyone would like to help set up a Mandalorian guild on the EU RP Trask Ulgo server, which rather than serve the Empire (or the Republic) seeks independance and the preservation of the legacy of the Mando'ade. Ideally, the organisation would be somewhat similar to Cassus Fett's Neo-Crusaders, in that it would pursue aggressive integration of other races and cultures. Obviously, Force-using classes would likely be unable to join--unless you actually RP a non-Force senstive person and use vibro-blades etc. Its overall objective would probably be the eventual overthrow of Mand'alor the Vindicated, the installation of a new worthy Mand'alor and the subsequent aggressive pursuit of Mandalorian expansion. Not only in terms of conquest but in cultural terms as well, as carried out by Cassus Fett during the Mandalorian Wars. Obviously, the guild would have major challenges. Especially given that Mand'alor the Vindicated has already cracked down on seperatist groups. Nevertheless I think it would be wholly interesting and enjoyable. I am just hoping others feel the same.
  5. I generally enjoy platformers. I loved Mirror's Edge, the Super Mario games, Donkey Kong Country, Prince of Persia, etc., etc. I absolutely hate the datacron jumping in this game. These segments reek of really poor game design and the main problem lies with the horrendous controls. There is no precision in the jumping at all. Often, I end up overshooting a jump because my character jumps much farther than I intended. If he even jumps at all and doesn't just run over the ledge, as someone else noted. Then there are the times when I seem to hit an invisible wall. The datacron segments so far respresent the least enjoyable part of the game for me. I honestly cannot fathom who thought this would be a good idea. They are poorly implemented and given the relative polish of the rest of the game they stand out all the more.
  6. The suqadron is open to any class, really. The important thing isn't so much character class, as it is character and whether your character would fit in. The squadron could potentially feature Jedi, for instance, if they were willing to serve as fighter pilots. Really, the most important thing is whether you would be interested in the kind of role-play the squadron would provide. Hot-shot fighter pilots a bit like the squadron featured in Battlestar Galactica or Rogue and Wraith Squadron in the Expanded Universe.
  7. I play on Trask Ulgo as well and rarely turn down a chance to meet or role-play with new and interesting people. Most of my RP has been Republic-side so far, however. If you are interested, we may be able to work something out Empire-side.
  8. I already posted in a similar thread but I may be interested. The whole mentor aspect is a fairly rich field in terms of role-play potential. I play on the Trask Ulgo EU server. If you want to know about my character, he is a somewhat unconvential Jedi Knight. His master was similar to Qui-Gon Jinn in that he believed in the Living Force. His beliefs and politics had a very large hand in shaping my character, who has spent much of his life as a Knight travelling along the Outer Rim and providing aid at the borders and outside of the Republic. He has finally returned in order to help fight the Sith. This has left him as something of an outsider within the Order, and there are those who consider him "a crusader". He is something of a philosopher, in that he carries his own interpretation of the Jedi code, though he does not actively push this interpretation onto others. He does not believe that sentiment is inherently dangerous, but rather that it is the fear of sentiment, selfish desire and losing that which we care about, which leads to the Dark Side. As such, you need to accept that all things are transient and all things will fade away, die and become one with the Force eventually. That is but one aspect of the character. I personally love philosophical debate, and therefore the metaphysical philosophy and code behind the Jedi are of great interest to me. I know a fair bit about the EU as well as Star Wars lore having read books and comics. Alternatively, I may be willing to do Sith RP instead.

  10. No. That's why the guild will implement special forces operations on the ground as well. That will make it much easier to run events, story-lines etc. The Guild is up and running now (Vanicus Squadron) so hopefully we can manage to gather some steam and acquire some members.
  11. I am currently looking into starting up a fighter squadron type guild on Trask Ulgo (EU) that would be based on the Gav Daragon capital ship in the Republic fleet, given that it has various ammenities such as a cantina, bridge etc. Essentially, the squadron would be similar to Wraith Squadron, in that their jobs would go beyond flight missions and include work for Republic intelligence and special forces. There would be military ranks as well as personal callsigns (that you would presumably choose for yourself) and what not. To me, such an organisation provides a solid foundation for role-play in that it allows for a wide range of diverse characters, plot-lines and interactions. Both outside and within the guild. What does anyone else think? Is this a good idea? Would you be interested in helping to create and flesh out such an organisation?
