  1. I know the feeling. I did that, too. Both of the other SW:TOR players in my household cancelled their subscriptions after the removal of the Reputation track from Galactic Seasons, the obliteration of the value of "Advancement : Reputation," and that lame "We swear, it just slipped our minds" excuse they gave us for why they didn't mention these changes in the Patch Notes or anywhere else prior to the game update. At the end of March, against my better judgment, I renewed my subscription for one more month, in the hopes that they might do something to rectify this situation. I should have known better. I actually thought that they would announce a "compromise," say that they've listened to our feedback and give us back a small portion of the Conquest points for "Advancement : Reputation." I never believed I would be satisfied with that, but it turned out, they didn't even do that much. The increase in Conquest values for Heroic Missions was all well and good, if you can get past the fact that increasing the amount of boring grinding in the game is exactly why many of us were upset at the nerf in the first place. But you know, they could have kept "Advancement : Reputation" where it was and also increased the Conquest rewards for Heroic Missions. To this day, I still don't see how nerfing that Conquest Objective improved the game-playing experience. All the nerf did was make the game more tedious and boring. Well, my subscription runs out in just a matter of hours, and I probably won't be back before it does, so this is my good-bye. To my friends who are still in the game, it's been a blast. I might come back to this game at some point in the future, just for old time's sake, nostalgia, but I'm not counting on it. Good luck to the rest of you. For as long as it lasted, this was a great game.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, unlocking the Cyborg species in a Legacy makes all of the Cybernetic appearances available to all Origin Stories in that Legacy. Without the unlock, each Origin Story only has some of the Cybernetics options available to it.
  3. That was the option that everybody in my household went with. <Shrug> Oh, well, what can you do?
  4. My advice to everybody is to complete your transfers before the 30th day, or even the 29th. First of all, any time that an MMORPG tells you that something will last until a certain date, always assume that they mean up to BUT NOT INCLUDING that date. In this case, if the last day is April 10, then assume that it will end on April 10 some time right after midnight, which means that for all practical purposes, April 9 was the actual last day. I have had to learn and re-learn that lesson more times than I care to think about while playing MMORPGs, including this one. Second, even if you have a specific date and time that something will last to, figure that it will end early with no explanation given, because a fair amount of time, it will. Better safe than sorry. Complete your transfers ahead of the supposed ending date.
  5. That kind of reminded me of something that a friend of mine who used to play SW:TOR did recently, when she decided to quit the game. Her subscription's recurring billing was with Paypal. Now, she could have just logged in to her SW:TOR account and cancelled the subscription, but instead, she went out of her way to log in to her Paypal account, to terminate its recurring payment to Electronic Arts. She said it was because she didn't trust the people running this game to cancel her subscription and not charge her again. ... No, she wasn't kidding.
  6. Whenever my download got stuck, I just closed the window and launched it again. Sometimes I had to do it three or four times, but eventually it finished.
  7. Anybody even want to try to guess what this means?
  8. Sigh. I was totally addicted to World of Warcraft for a long time before I left it for Star Wars : The OId Republic. It's not nearly as immersive. An interaction with an NPC amounts to reading some text and pressing a button instead of a fully animated, voiced-over cutscene ... but, on the other hand, at least Blizzard's team gives you something to DO.
  9. I'm not denying that. I'm just saying the option exists. When I first started playing the game, a long time ago and on an older account, I would buy items with Cartel Coins and sold them for Credits. I stopped doing that a while back, after increases in real world cost of living made real money a lot more valuable to me than in-game Credits. But if somebody is willing to buy a Stronghold with Cartel Coins, they could do this with a character transfer.
  10. As I understand it, if you bought a Stronghold on the origin server with Credits, then you'll have to buy the Stronghold all over again on the destination server. But if you bought the Stronghold on the origin server with a different currency, like Cartel Coins, then you won't need to buy the Stronghold again on the destination server. You just have to reactivate it and redecorate it. At least, that's what it says in the EA Help. Star Wars: The Old Republic - STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™ Character Transfers (ea.com) So you could buy a Stronghold on one server with Cartel Coins, and then reactivate it on the destination server after you complete the character transfer. I believe that it's free to reactivate a Stronghold bought with Cartel Coins. That way, you could get Strongholds on both servers and only have to pay the Cartel Coin cost once. At least, I think that's how it works.
  11. A friend of mine in the game had an interesting take on that whole "You only needed to click a token to get 43,000 points" claim. He said it was like saying that you can get a Commercial Driver's License in a couple of hours - the length of time required to take the test for the license. Because the time required to actually learn how to drive a truck somehow "doesn't count."
  12. Well, it was a while ago, so maybe I'm not remembering correctly. Here's the thing : The Conquest Objectives and Galactic Seasons Objectives were on two separate tabs inside the Conquest tab in the Log. I seem to recall trying to check the week's Galactic Seasons Objectives while I was on a newly created character on Ord Mantell, and being unable to do so. The entire Conquest tab was totally blocked out to me because my character wasn't Level 10 yet. The reason I remember it is because I was VERY surprised when I killed some enemies in Drelliad Village and wound up completing the "Still Got It" objective. I had assumed that since i couldn't even look up the objectives on this character, that I wouldn't be able to do them, either. ETA : I'm pretty sure that was during Galactic Season 2. I remember summoning Fen Zeil on that character at some point later on, and I only ever did that during Galactic Season 2.
  13. I don't know ... Personally, if I was part of a group, in PVP or anywhere else, and everybody was telling me to get lost, I'd probably go.
  14. Let's see ... Buy a new computer or stop playing SW:TOR ,,, It's actually not as difficult a choice as some might think.
  15. IIRC, the Galactic Seasons Objectives were originally part of the Conquest tab in the Log window. The thing is, only characters of Level 10 or higher can access the Conquest tab, while characters of any level can do Galactic Seasons Objectives. This meant that characters of Levels 1-9 couldn't see the Galactic Seasons Objectives even though they COULD perform them. This didn't really make a lot of sense, and I'm guessing that's why they moved the GS objectives to a place on the screen where anybody could access them. Now, logically, would it make more sense to group the Galactic Seasons Objectives in with the Conquest Objectives or group them in with the Galactic Seasons Rewards Tracks? Honestly, I could go either way on this. The GS Objectives do have a logical connection with both of those parts of the UI.
  16. ... Okay, I'm going to be honest. When Eric Musco said, "we didn’t try to hide any of this," I was thinking : "You know, that is exactly what I would expect somebody to say if they DID try to hide something."
  17. Man, that was an awful lot of text just to say, "Sorry, it slipped our minds." After reading this explanation, I still do not see what constructive purpose there was to nerfing "Advancement : Reputation." In what way does this improve the game-playing experience? As far as I can see, the only thing this nerf does is increase the amount of grinding that we need to do to reach Conquest Point goals. In order to make up for the lost Conquest Points, we have to kill more of the same mobs we've killed thousands of times before and complete the same Heroics that we've done about as many times. This reminds me of a lot of battles I've had in the game where the enemy had no chance of defeating my characters, but the fights still took a long time to complete. The opponents' attacks could not overcome my characters' armor and healing. They never made a dent in my characters' health. But the enemies had so much armor and health that it took a really long time to whittle them down. But that didn't make the fights more challenging. It only made them more tedious. And it's the same with this. The only result of this nerf is that the game will become more time-consuming and boring. If the only result of the change is that the game will now be less fun to play, then it obviously DIDN'T "need" to be done. Here's my feedback : The only "adjustment" I am interested in seeing is "Advancement : Reputation" being restored to its original value. Nothing less than that will stop me from cancelling my subscriptions. If the developers add more Objectives that actually do compensate for the loss of "Advancement : Reputation," then I might reconsider ... The ones they've added so far, though, do not even scratch the surface of adequacy.
  18. Other people have already answered this question. You know, when I read it, I was thinking : "Wow, I hope this person was sitting down when they found out that today's 'ASAP' patch was to make Blueprint Fragments Bind on Pickup and fix that mount not working at Level 1" ...
  19. Well, call me persnickety, but I'm afraid that I don't find that an acceptable solution. Sorry.
  20. For me, personally, this does not inspire confidence. In fact, it does anything BUT. It sounds very much like they're going to announce that they've listened to our feedback and have decided to "compromise." The Advancement : Reputation objective will still be largely nerfed, but not as much as it had been. You folks all remember when they announced they were increasing the Credits allowed on each character transferring to Shae Vizla to 15 million. That still meant that a lot of players on the APAC server would have to settle for bringing over a fraction of the Credits they had accumulated on the existing servers. 15 million only looked large compared to the absurdly small limit of 2 million that had been announced at the beginning. This is looking the same. They completely decimated the value of this Conquest Objective with this update, so now, when they give us some of that value back, it will look like they're doing us a big favor. I'm not buying it.
  21. We can't log in to the game, and they are working to fix "ASAP" somebody not being able to use a mount at Level 1. Gives you an idea of how they order their priorities.
  22. Huh, I keep wondering why they didn't tell us about this nerf until after it was done ...
  23. Well, it's been my observation that fixing what isn't broken seems to be the developers' specialty. As of now, I can no longer log in to the game, so once again, they've also broken what wasn't broken.
  24. Let me put it to you this way : The one nice thing about having low expectations is that you are seldom disappointed.
  25. Oh, terrific. Just a little while ago, I tried to log in to my most heavily populated Legacy, and the game froze up. And now, every time I try to re-launch the game, it attempts to go into that Legacy and freezes up again. I vividly remember this happening back in December, when Game Update 7.4 "Chains in the Dark" was released. Funny thing ... When it happened then, I was desperate to get my account up and running. I remember trying any advice that anybody would give on the forums to make that happen. This time ... Right now, I am looking at a thread with advice about client settings, dxdiag, and such, and I'm realizing something ... I am realizing that I don't care enough about playing this game to bother doing any of that. In recent weeks, I have been contemplating taking a break from SW:TOR to try other things. Today, I was actually feeling a bit excited to log in to the game, a feeling that I hadn't had in a while, because I was looking forward to the new Galactic Season, especially since I had finally finished building up my Stronghold Bonuses and levelling up a character to 50 on each of my active Legacies ... and then, I find out that they dropped the Reputation track from Galactic Seasons and nerfed Advancement : Reputation into oblivion. And they didn't even have the decency to let us know they were going to do this so that we could plan accordingly. I wonder how many people bought the Master's Datacron and Equipment Bundle when it was on the Flash Sale recently, anticipating that they could make good use of it during Galactic Seasons, not knowing that the biggest chunk of Conquest Points they could get was about to be blown up. Well, that did it. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. And now, I can't even log into the game anymore, and I find that I don't care enough to bother trying to fix the problem. My subscription runs out on March 26. I will give them until that date to do something about this, and then I'll be leaving for good. Maybe, one day in the future, I will come back, perhaps just for nostalgia's sake. But I'm not counting on it. To any of my friends who are still in the game ... It's been a blast, for as long as it lasted.
