  1. The queue had nothing to do with there being too many people, they set the population caps very low when the game released, and slowly raised them to try and disperse the players across all servers. I imagine they had already bought the hardware for all the servers prior to launch and wanted to make use of them all, but I remember clearly being on a full server, having a long queue, and once I was in game I hardly ran into any other players other than the starting planets, one of my friends kept saying to me "I never see anyone, isn't this supposed to be an mmo?" But all of that would have been fine, if they were quick to make adjustments, transfers, merges, something... But they didn't. I had to leave my 50 merc and reroll to a better server when mine turned into a ghost town. Seemed pretty decent after that, then they opened oceanic transfers, and half the population there disappeared too... I haven't heard any news of what they're working on pretty much since 1.2 hit, they're being very quiet... Hopefully something sparks interest in swtor for the general community before I get bored of D3. ;x
  2. Also, not sure if anyone read the notes, but it wasn't just matrix cubes, there was a general mission items problem. I can imagine people being stuck on certain missions, unable to progress to the next planet since tuesday, flipping out and spamming angry bug reports...
  3. He's a proud resident of the Bioware commonwealth.
  4. I wish I played powertech just so I could experience the slow pulse generator is supposed to have ;( And mako is definitely more bangable.
  5. For saying something after the nerfs already took place? Lol, sure, you go ahead and do that then. Arsenal IS broken in PVP, I won't claim otherwise. Arsenal WAS too reliant on tracers prior to 1.2(and still is). Tracer to stack armor pen, tracer to buff heatseakers, tracer to buff rail shot, tracer to proc unloads. They made it sound like they were changing the spec to add depth to the gameplay, but where's the depth? It was just a straight damage nerf.
  6. Lol, pyrotech has always been a good spec, there's nothing fotm about it. Even the pvp set bonuses are geared towards playing pyro. Arsenal is just crap all around, just like a full lightning sorc. If a person is being stubborn and just has to play the most immobile and defenseless spec because they can't let go of the days when "LOL TRACER SPAM" was effective at killing anyone, then they are just asking to get frustrated.
  7. I have a 50 vanguard and a 50 merc. I definitely like the vanguard more at the moment, however I still really like my merc. Arsenal feels really broke now though, but I have no problems waxing the enemy with pyrotech spec, which honestly makes more sense anyway since the pvp set bonuses were made for that spec. (previously, or possibly still, people would wear the two piece from the PVE set for tracer spam) Oh and as far as vanguard PVP dps it isn't high sustained dps like a sentinel but it has a very high burst damage output.(assualt spec) Tactics is more sustained damage that hinges on setting up the perfect pulse cannon for burst but it's tough to pull off due to some server issue that causes stunned players to not be located where they seem to be, and due to pulse generator not applying its snare smart people just walk out of it.
  8. Would have to disagree, swtor just opened very optimistically with too many servers, and throttled the populations to be too low. Look at original everquest, just went F2P after more than a decade and they've merged servers several times along the way, yet the player base remained large enough to warrant 18 expansions, with one coming out just last year. I don't need to see 100 servers to choose from to feel like the game I'm playing is populated with other people, I just need to be able to find a group for whatever given thing I want to do in a reasonable time, which sometimes happens in swtor, and sometimes just isn't even close to happening. And honestly you'd think it'd be easy to get 3 other people.
  9. A lot of people will be leaving this game if they are stuck on a low pop server for much longer. Need this implemented asap, the aussies already transferred off, you must be able to do this already... And please, no big patches, keep them lean. It's frustrating waiting weeks and months with no fixes or updates.
  10. I haven't noticed much of a drop in output. I think my all time record was something like 650-680k, and I've broke 600k a few times since 1.2 without too much trouble. I even tried a new spec, 21/19/0 +1, and did 600k in a voidstar. Was actually pretty decent with the 5 sec root knockback, 10 seconds off force speed, blinding shield, and of course if you weave in TK throws between heals you get 50% force reduction on the next two heals. Not bad but really aggressive gameplay. I think the main problem isn't the healing output, it's how sporadically you get a guard/people taunting for you. With guard/taunt it's very hard to die, even versus 2 or 3 melee. But without support, which happens more often than not, 1 geared melee will shut you down and humiliate you, bend over and spread it sage! IMO, in a 1 v 1 no class should be a faceroll for another class. It's not fun gameplay to have a marauder (geared) on you with just his dots alone out dpsing your healing trance, spend the whole time frantically trying to get away and heal yourself but he's still far out-damaging your heals, and then die. Let's not even talk about what it would take to actually win that 1 v 1 as a healer... lol. Screw the PVP trauma debuff ;\
  11. Top guild according to who, them? You? lol Doesn't sound like many have even heard of them, and we don't even have any reason to believe they got any server firsts other you saying it was so. Even then, the first round of content was intentionally easy, most guilds with even semi competent players rolled through it. When we see higher tiers of raiding released then we might have a better idea what groups are a cut above the rest. Just another doom and gloom post.
  12. sages project hits for garbage, a shadows project hits hard, but they have to apply debuffs and watch for procs to line up to do full damage, plus project has a delay before it hits, so that's actually project + another attack hitting at the same time. Regardless, dps geared/prot spec shadows are OP as hell, just sayin ;D Edit: Also, I think there's a reason you don't see a lot of prot spec juggernauts in pvp
  13. Mmm yes, everyone gobble up the delicious troll meat! 10/10
  14. You don't drop combat when someone vanishes on you. Stealth scan can really screw their crap up though.
  15. So I just died from laughing, thanks a lot.
  16. A lot of people are mad about them wrecking the hybrid spec, but you can really do well with full balance. I'm just irritated they haven't done anything to make full telekenetics/lightning builds more appealing. (and using PoM on disturbance is pointless unless you're kiting and mind crush is on cd, so PoM doesn't even get used most of the time) Edit: but I got to admit, a really geared melee will just obliterate me, and running is not an option if they are savvy players.
  17. ^This. Balance can really be a decent spec though, but when mind crush is on CD, it's hardly worth casting disturbance with a PoM proc unless you're on the move, I was hoping there'd eventually be something to use those procs on, and even more so I was hoping there'd be a survivability increase somewhere. What use is a class that has no stopping power AND takes loads of damage? The real OP part about the hybrid spec was telekenetic effusion, 10 seconds off force speed AND unlimited force in one talent, not the aoe meter cheesing.
  18. The loss of the hybrid spec doesn't really bother me, I do just as well with a full balance spec. What doesn't sound very appealing is the healing changes(I like to go healing sometimes to change it up) but I'll have to see it in action to see if it's that bad or not. Oh, and full balance/madness... POM proc now effects the dot portion of your mind crush, that's pretty hot. However, with all that being said, I probably will change classes, not because of the loss of a popular spec, but because this class just feels incredibly weak(on the live servers). I can do a decent overall damage with aoe or multidotting IF I'm ignored, but I don't feel like I have any stopping power, and very low survivability. In fact, I usually target other sages/sorcs first just cause they go down so easy ------- Things that are OP about sages OP as hell in the low level bracket. (really diminishes with gear at 50) Everyone has close to the same HP, sage damage is scaled high for this HP level, and most players don't know to save abilities to stop them from escaping, letting them force speed heal up and come back for more. Stacking classes in this game really imbalances a warzone, and this happens often with how many people play sage/sorc
  19. Currently it's very hard to kill a sage healer with a guard on him, taunts on all attackers, and other team backup. Unfortunately if you don't actually queue up with a tank then those scenarios will end up few and far between. Without a guard, a well played melee will shut you down. Once a team sees you healing you'll often get a target marker from the enemy ensuring you'll spend the rest of the game in the graveyard. They have way too much control/interrupts as it is and I find it very difficult to heal myself let alone anyone else, and I'm certainly not going to win a 1v1 while being beat on by any given melee. This is of course even level or higher geared players. Now with longevity being nerfed(might not be so bad if the enemy lets me free cast deliverance), and reducing the options for quick self healing I probably won't bother healing on the sage anymore(current patch notes anyway). Benevolence, even as a crit, is like a drop in the bucket when a juggernaut is slamming you for 6.5k largely due to the flat healing reduction while in pvp combat.(unless they are removing it, I didn't see that anywhere) Plus marauders/snipers getting an addition healing debuff they can put on you. They also neutered the popular hybrid spec, which I honestly feel was over rated by non sage/sorc players, they see a high amount of damage done at the end of a round and think that indicates good single target stopping power, but it only really shines in team fights, 1 vs 1 is aweful, and single target damage is really lackluster. Thankfully it looks like the balance spec will remain intact, which I've always thought was pretty good and relatively fun to play. But I still feel the class' survivability is pretty low, and the tools we have to get away are too easily countered. Edit: Of course this is all jumping to conclusions before really seeing it in action!
  20. I hate the way our knockback works. Try rolling any other class with a knockback and use it in huttball, makes you feel so overpowered after using the consular one. My merc feels like I'm blowing people to the moon in comparison lol.(sniper feels the same but a little harder to pull off since you gotta drop into cover)
  21. I rerolled on a higher pop server a month or so ago, and I did find it a pain to suddenly be undergeared fighting tons of battlemasters, but I made sure to get all my gear up to epic level 50 from PVE sources before even queuing up, and it honestly didn't take very long to get fully champion geared, and I had to replace most of the enhancements, so that was another 3 or 4 pieces to buy to complete the setup. I did find I couldn't queue with my friends at first(did we at least had full centurion+some champ) cause we were all badly geared, and you will get slaughtered bringing 4 undergeared players into a WZ. And honestly, you can also easily obtain columi gear from FP's. Rakata earrings and implants are easy from dailies and a huge stat boost too. This stuff doesn't have as much damage reduction but you'll do fine in pvp with it in lieu of other gear. Something else to consider is what sort of pvp community exists on your specific server. My old server had certain time slots (which I played during) where there was only one really, really powerful premade running, who you'd fight against(or rarely with) literally every game. That scenario was abysmal. Extremely frustrating. Getting roflstomped all night is no fun. And we also had an inactive ilum scene. If that's what your friend was facing then it might be the player climate she happened into, more than the loot system setting her behind the curve. It's much better now with the increased token drops from the bags(I only got 1 lucky champ drop but still geared up easy enough) Now I'm feeling her pain with battlemasters bags, I just had an ~27 bag unlucky streak on battlemasters tokens. So yes, what your friend is saying exists, it happened, and it still happens on BM gear(thank god they are scrapping the whole rewards system in the coming patch for something different), but I'd definitely say it's the "somewhere in between" from your title, and not so much leaning towards the legitimacy end of it. Either way, hope she comes back and supports the growth of the game.
