  1. Just to verify one suggestion: I installed Hotspot Shield VPN. I can now launch and log into the game. TunnelBear is no longer free. This one is, but they do the "Oh, let's sign you up for a 7-day free trial of our premium service and let's just take your credit card info in case you forget to cancel" thing. For me? Being able to play is worth the price of reminding myself to cancel once this issue is resolved.
  2. Almost six years now. I mean, why would they fix it now anyway? It wouldn't be fair to six years of agents having this mission bugged if all the new agents could complete it, would it now?
  3. Yup, October of 2017 and the bug for the light side option is still here. My solution: I have the Priority Transport: Personal Starship legacy ability and used it to get off the Supreme Chancellor's ship. I was able to travel Darth Tormen's ship from there with no problem.
  4. Still need it? How about splitting the difference at 9 mil? Mail Aecie (imp) or Naqoy (pub) and we can work something out. Those are the toons I spend the most time on these days. Actually, the price has dropped on the GTN -- how about 5.7 mil? 5% off the current low. Such a deal!
  5. Given all the permutations of vehicle types and pet types from the Cartel Market, as well as other sources, even if you have a reasonable collection of either there really aren't enough quickbars for a fair selection of each without removing actual skills. Since SWTOR already has a mechanism for rotating through quickbars -- something that once was helpful when the maximum number of quickbars displayable was only four -- but now is quite pointless given how it functions at the present, maybe you should switch that over to a rotation through quickbars beyond the standard ones now that could only hold mount and pet summonses. Or, here's a much better idea: Create new general skills that, when activated, will choose randomly from your "stables" a vehicle or a pet that you own/have unlocked. For pets, it might actually be good to have two similar summons abilities: one that selects randomly from "land" pets that crawl or roll or move across the ground, and a second for one that randomly selects an "air" pet that flies along at your side. I say this because you can actually have one of each type of pet out at the same time, so there are genuinely two generic types of pets. For mounts and vehicles, it might be reasonable to have just one summons skill to cover them both. However, since some people like to ride their animal mounts and others prefer their mechanical vehicles over "living" creatures, having both summon random mount and a summon random vehicle skills would be a very nice gesture toward the player base.
  6. I'd suggest you don't allow spammers and credit sellers into your guild. Not everyone has a guild website either -- why start a website to send mail to guildies when MUDs 25 years ago had that sort of functionality IN GAME? As for voice chat ... am I supposed to stay online until all of our 35 or so active members get into voice chat so I can give a 3 sentence message to them? MOTD? 128 character limit. Even the smallest sized string data types in most database languages are twice as big. Maybe you're relatively new to MMOs, if your expectations of what we should be able to do IN GAME to communicate with friends and guild mates are that BioWare can ignore it and people should just alt-tab out of game, launch another program or two, and see if anyone else IN GAME is trying to send a relatively simple message to you OUT OF GAME. This is not rocket science.
  7. Here we are, 20 months after launch, and we still do not have a mail system that allows for multiple recipients. That allows for guild mail. That includes some sort of archiving. Star Wars Galaxies had all this at launch about 10 years ago. Never mind that -- when I had a Bitnet mail account through my university back in 1987, Pine gave us tons more functionality than SWTOR's mail system does. Even considering the bandwith issues of using 9600 baud modems, we still had no real limit to the number of characters we could include in our messages. Why can't you, BioWare, figure out how to allow us more than what? is it 64? 100 maybe? I have no idea, because when I run up against it I certainly do not have the patience to count it out. In game right now, we have a mail system that could not hold it's weight against systems using 300 baud acoustic modems and teletypes as your "terminal" back in the late 1970's. If there was a reality show on MMOs. BioWare would probably get sent home during episode 1 for failing so miserably in this.
  8. Well, I wrote something, then read a few more posts and wanted to delete what I wrote, but after a third thought I'm bringing it back. Why choose Black Market Mods? If the ideal amount of alacrity is 0, then the 10% increase from Burst Volley is still going to give you 0. A boost of 2% of 0 is not going to make things any better. I can see the need to get to Mortal Wound, but dropping 2 points in Holdout Defense at least gives you something marginally useful. And smacking people upside the head is almost as amusing as kicking people in the, um, you know.... Wait, my bad, multiplying instead of adding .. but the question remains: will that 2% actually do anything for you?
  9. After reading all of this, I can't believe anyone expected anything new for this event. Didn't any of you watch the video for this? "The Gree Event returns May 21st" BioWare couldn't even update a few seconds of video to make it seem new.
  10. After the debacle a month or so ago with the thief on Prophecy of the Five defrauding and stealing from guilds and the absolute lack of action on the part of BioWare's Customer Service, we now have a group of people having a contest to see who can steal the most from guilds and their banks. Because of your pathetic, flaccid response to the first thief, we now have a number of players who see nothing wrong with stealing from others in-game. GG BioWare
  11. Republic story on Makeb, Frinn Mesa. When Vice Commandant Grevin says:
  12. For Republic Balmorra: In Gorinth Canyon, overlooking Crater Base, near the orange vehicle broken down along the main path (450, 1850). Look to the southeast out over the crater to the large mountain on the far side. There are two platforms on the side of that mountain. The droid is centered on the upper platform.
  13. There are a lot of things that aren't stacking when you buy or receive more than one of them. Reputation trophies, at least the GSI ones. Fleet passes from the Security Key vendor. Something got broken with their item stacking code -- can't imagine WHY they were touching it in the first place -- so try stacking them manually.
  14. According to BioWare: "Level 55 Underworld Gear can now be crafted and traded on the Galactic Trade Network! Requiring expensive and rare components, Underworld Gear will be challenging to craft but well worth the investment." There is nothing in this game that is challenging to craft. "Crew Skills" do no require any skill. Requiring "rare components" where rare means "seldom seen" more than it means "difficult to get" also does not add to any sort of "challenge" BW claims there is. ... and changing the RE Chance of Tier 1 Prefix items from 10% to 20% for schematics requiring a crafting skill rating above 400 does not constitute an expansion, upgrade, revamp or revision of a crafting system mired by mindless RNG.
  15. ... in case it looks familiar: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:Bobblehead_Big_Guns.png
  16. I fail to see any fraud in your example. Can you point it out to me?
  17. I guess I need to point out that I have already pointed out that I pointed out that I already said I was responsible for the loss and that BioWare is not. Learn to read with comprehension. I clearly can't insult you. That would require that you understand what you read and that you do not assume what everyone is saying is what you think they say. You know that when you read the first few words of a post and then the last few words of the same post, filling in the middle on your own makes an *** out of you. Don't worry, tho, because everyone like you has ignored what was said and responded to it anyway. You've plenty of company here on that.
  18. Sorry, but breaking and entering is Burglary. Theft is taking property from another without the approval of that person and with the intention of deny possession of that property to that person. Fraud is intentional deception done to cause personal gain and/or injury to others. People seem to think that being given the permission to take something absolves a person committing fraud from committing theft. I can tell you one thing: should you be called upon to sit on a criminal jury regarding a case of fraud and theft, expressing this view is a perfect way to avoid sitting on this case's jury. You'll probably still have to sit your duration of being in the jury pool, but you can use this to avoid any sort of responsibility that is expected of members of a community. Again, GG.
  19. What part of "I am the guild leader so the responsibility is ultimate mine" do you not understand? I have said this multiple times. I have to keep repeating myself as well about BioWare not being responsible for the theft because people like you see a two-sentence paragraph and think TLDR. I realize it takes some intellectual effort to actually understand what you read instead of read what you want into what you see. I know "this is the Internet" so I really am taxing you to read with comprehension what I type. This is no real-world, state-mandated third grade reading comprehension test. But please try to read what a type, not what you think you see. And how many times do I have to say this is NOT an issue of what happens or happened in my guild. This is a case of someone outside my guild perpetrating a fraud to commit a theft. He tried to do the same again today to a different guild. He successfully got into that guild, but I tipped off the guild's officers before he got in far enough to steal from them. I doubt that the thief was standing in the guild bank area of fleet because he thought he had no chance of getting access; he was counting on it. This is not guild politics, this is the same sort of theft that identity thieves do in the "real world" which, oddly enough, happens most often on the Internet. Apparently, even though the Internet would not be possible without a "real world" in which it can exist, all notions of what people can and should do is abandoned. If you can do it, it's not just okay to do it, but exploit the hell out of it and damn anyone who tries to stop you. It's the Internet, it's not real. All the things you do in the Internet game are meaningless, aren't they? Why should BioWare do anything to stop people from doing what would, in the "real world", be considered a crime? Even if they have irrefutable proof through their own means of tracking. Even if they have independent witnesses. Even if the exact same character has done the exact same thing to several people who spoke up, who knows how many have not? The whole reason I mentioned having my wallet stolen and the police's response to it was this. The police are given the accountability and authority to investigate thefts. They have almost no independent tools to track theft, and the precision of what they have is next to negligible. If anyone could have thought investigating a subway pickpocket was a hopeless exercise in futility, the NYC Transit Police have more than enough call to think it a waste of time. All the same, they pursued my case farther than I expected and with more energy that I could have wished. On the other hand, we have BioWare and this unreal world of theirs. Compared to the real world police, BioWare has precise, perfect tracking of things like guild bank withdrawals and GTN sales. BioWare is the only organization that have the ability not just to track, but to act on what they record. Yet they have abandoned all sense of accountability, all sense of authority over their own product, even when the can determine precisely what was taken by whom and what history that person may have with not only one particular affected guild, but with any guild this person defrauds and steals from in the future. BioWare has said precisely nothing about whether they will do or not do what they can to stop a thief. The normal sorts of cues we use in the real world to determine whether someone really is who they say they are, are not present in this unreal world ... because it is not the real world. Maybe we can convince the people at Sourceforge on the Mumble project to include voice print identification soon into it's products. Saying nothing about a wrongful act does not mean you approve of it. Right up to the point where it becomes obvious that YOU are the only one with any real AUTHORITY as well as any real ABILITY to prevent that act. By not holding this person accountable for his actions, when BioWare is the only "person" who has the ability to do so, BioWare is saying to this or any other character that does anything that would be considered "wrong" or "criminal" in the "real world" that it's okay to do what you do. It's okay to steal. If you can manage it, we won't do a thing. And so many of you supporting BioWare's lack of responsibility to do what they can do when they can do it. My guild and another guild have identified someone perpetrating identity theft and, through that, theft of property. BioWare is the only entity that can take any effective action against this individual. The thief knows how to get your trust and even if I give you his character name, legacy name and server there is nothing you or I can do to prevent him from leveling a toon high enough to get to fleet, read all your names and your guild names, and take notes on who he wants to defraud and steal from next. The fact is this guy steals from people within the confines of BioWare's product. We have irrefutable proof on one theft and proof of another attempt with the exact same character, exact same name, but different people he was claiming to be. If you think what this guy is doing is a good thing, a thing that should be allowed, a thing that should be admired, grow some balls and say it flat out. Take some responsibility yourselves for what should be allowable. Maybe you like the way CCP handles these things in EVE ... man up and let us know that stealing from other players is a skill you would like to have or that you admire. On the other hand, if you think this sort of behavior is wrong, figure out what you mean by that. If stealing is wrong but the only authority capable of taking action expends itself on doing nothing, grow a pair and call them out on it. So, BioWare doesn't have to exhibit any sense of morality in how it operates it's game? Ask someone who was around for beta what reason BioWare gave for not allowing cross-faction chat and whispers. They might recall how disturbed BioWare decision makers were at the vicious, vile things people thought it okay to say to one another ... I guess it wasn't real and that the Dark Side made them, oops!, their CHARACTERS say that. But BioWare has taken moral stances with respect to this game on things that have far less consequence than what this thief has done. That this all takes place on the Internet does not excuse criminal behavior within that world. Theft is theft. Or does the fact that someone can "role play" someone and steal by doing so mean that it's in the game, it's perfectly reasonable, it's working as intended? My dog has a better sense of right and wrong and when that applies than those of you who think the thief and BioWare are blameless here.
  20. Anyone out there know a character that the person who wrote the above is active on? If so, can you tell me the last time he demanded your "credentials" if you sent him a /whisper, just to prove you are who you are?
  21. I guess you see what you want in what I said. I used that example to show how much the police did, above and beyond the call as far as I was concerned. Even though the police know far better than I ever will just how hopeless it was to expect the thief to be caught, the police pushed on harder than I ever expected they would. They had almost nothing to go on, but they still tried their best. Now, in this situation, BioWare knows who did the stealing. The stuff is either still in his inventory, or in the inventory of a different character on his account, or in the records of what his characters have sold. They also know that the very same character has tried to pull of the very same scam in yet another case. Unlike the police in the real world, BioWare can track with a high degree of precision and no lack of certainty who stole what and who profited from it. I have few illusions about getting what was taken back. It seems that many of you think I had my rattle taken and now I'm crying that I want it back. I don't expect to receive one thing to be returned, no matter what iron-clad proof I have of it being taken. What incenses me, first at BioWare and much more so now at my fellow gamers, is the complete lack of action to stop this guy. Me and my friends in the other guild involved literally caught him in the act. We had him online and in the process of trying to steal from another guild. And BioWare chose to say they will respond then proceeded to not respond. They put "features" into place that allow them to refuse any authority that they have, and so many of you rally to their non-decision. Quick poll: How many of the naysayers out there thought (a) stealing is wrong, whatever the circumstance, or (b) GG Mr. Thief, I wish I would have thought of that first?
  22. No. We gave someone who demonstrated enough for us to think this was nothing out of the ordinary the permission to take a few things out or put things in. In my guild, people rarely take more than one augmentation kit or some biochem consumables. In my guild, people put in far more than they take out. It has been over 12 hours now from when I was first told this issue would be elevated to in-game support. BioWare has said they would respond to me. They have, but not through in-game live support. They responded to a ticket. They did not say what they would do to stop this thief. They also did not say anything saying it was not their responsibility. They said nothing other than "Thank you for submitting a ticket." Again, this is not some case of a long-time guildie rage-quitting and taking stuff with him. The person who did this did so from the very start with the intention of stealing everything he could and getting out as fast as possible. You're right, we should be thankful this isn't the real world because, as I can say from personal experience, the chances of finding a thief and getting back what he took is minimal at best. However, this not being the real world also kicks in considering the fact that what was taken was recorded with precision, identifying the thief clearly, and that this thief is still in game, that this thief did not even feel the need to delete the character he did his thieving with, that he is continuing to attempt to defraud and steal from others with the exact same character ... again, by choosing to say precisely nothing BioWare is telling this thief -- and all of you as well -- that fraud and theft within their domain is perfectly reasonable and will not be subject to any intervention from the only real authority with the means of doing so. I guess this has all been valuable for one thing: if you take anything away from this thread, it's that when it happens to you, just keep your mouth shut. About the only "fellow" gamers who speak up will be the people just like you used to be -- the people who will give BioWare every excuse for taking no action and give BioWare every opportunity to continue doing the same.
  23. What has BioWare done that prevents people from claiming who they say they are? To prevent people from watching for a particular guild tag and writing down the names of people in the guild? So many people here are speaking out of the naive certainty that it could never happen to you. I lived in New York City of about 17 years. One of the things you can pretty much be certain of as a New Yorker is that the longer you live there, regardless of whatever precautions you take, you will have your pocket picked and the thief will get away with it. It took about 16 years and 11 months, but it happened to me. All the same, the police did everything they could to get my stuff back. They tracked attempts at using my cancelled cards, they looked at security cameras at ATMs, they tracked the use of the transit card I lost. It didn't do enough to find the guy, but they did far more than I thought they could. BioWare has the authority and the means to stop people who steal from others while using BioWare's software. You can argue that they should use that authority or you could argue that they should not or need not. But BioWare is saying absolutely nothing either way. The thief is still active in the game and still trying to steal, and BioWare is not saying they will stop him, they are not saying that they won't. By choosing to say nothing, BioWare is telling this theif in no uncertain terms that even when he gets caught, he will face no consequences from the only people who have the ability to instate consequences. That is BioWare saying, quite clearly and without one word, that being a fraud and a thief within their product is "Working as Intended." Just like CCP. The hypocrisy in the responses above is too thick to wade through. People say I should stop blaming BioWare and blame myself for the thefts. I have not blamed BioWare for what was stolen, not have I said anyone other than myself is ultimately responsible for what happened. In the same breath, you absolve the only entity who could prevent this from happening again of any responsibility to act when they can act, to act when they are the only ones who can act decisively. I am sure the BioWare employees monitoring this thread are breathing easy given all of your support for their decision not to act. They see that with all of you absolving BioWare from any sort of authority here -- not to stop some petty intra-guild squabble, but to stop a thief who has taken from others without any concern for consequences, a thief who has tried to do the same to others -- they see that there is no need for anyone from BioWare to say a word here. You got their *** covered. They can continue to not do something and not do nothing.
  24. This is not a case of someone who has been in the guild for some time deciding that they wanted to take something from the guild. This is a case of: Someone unknown to all of my guild's members to see enough of us to know whose identity would be sufficient to assume and know whose names to drop to let enough credibility, Someone who takes not one or two items, but every single item from our guild bank within the span of a few minutes, and immediately quit the guild once they took everything. This is not some disgruntled guildie who decided to /gquit and grab what he could. This is the case of someone convincing enough to do it easily. If he can do it easily, then he's probably had some practice. Given the general response here, I can understand other guild leaders not wanting to speak up about it. None of my detractors are smart enough to realize it could happen to them. As I have mentioned above, this guy got inside a much stricter guild that does a lot of the things people are willing to throw at me in hindsight. That guild's officers know better now. I'm not going to "out" them for allowing the same thief in their guild as they have more of a reputation to uphold than I do. Then again, they're not stupid enough to think they wouldn't be that gullible again some time in the future. Pound your chests all you want. The simple truth is the same could easily happen to any of you no matter how tough or strict you think you are. To not say "no" is not a measure of approval as long as you do not have the means or the authority to make that "no" stick. BioWare has the authority. They have the means. I have given them what evidence I have. My friends can confirm this guy is a repeat offender. I'm sure BioWare has other logging mechanisms to support all this independently. Their choice to respond by saying nothing is precisely the abandonment of authority which means approval. After all, how many of you have said something along the lines of "If it's not on the known bugs list, then it's not an exploit ... it's working as intended"?
  25. I see. My friends' guild is perpetrating theft, and I should be suspicious enough to assume that: The thief saw me noticing him, The thief was clever enough to realize I would recognize the guild he was in, The thief realized that his "cover" was blown and that having one of my friends reach out to me before I could check with them would throw off my suspicions, and most of all, that my friends in that other guild are so completely stupid that when this person was not trying to steal from other guilds, he should be tagged with the guild name they are running their fraud from. As I said above, I am not so cynical as to suspect my friends of engaging in elaborate hoaxes in order to steal from me. I am willing, though, to think that friends of mine are trusting enough to be taken in by the same sort of swindle ... otherwise, why would I have told them about the thief? I guess what I really should have done was contact BioWare customer support to tell them that a guild was engaged in some rather sophisticated thievery and that they should ban the entire guild, just to be safe. Then again, I'm not much into conspiracy theories and paranoia. I'm also not into questioning the intelligence of my friends based on such absurd conspiracy theories. If that's the way you treat your "friends," I do feel sorry for you.
