  1. The email said: "Subscribe by October 19 to get the Swoop Mount - and all subscribers get a Free Level 60 character!" Been a subscriber since June. Can't access most things. Cool beans.
  2. I'm kind of in this camp. But unfortunately, I only managed to get the rakata set on my sniper. Curses!
  3. I'm just throwing stuff out there because people still seem to be paranoid about Operatives "three shotting people". I'd rather have a spec with greater overall damage (even if it requires a "ramp up" time) versus a substantial kneejerk nerf down the line because they overbuffed our burst and lead to people complaining. It wasn't fun the first time around and I'd rather not deal with it a second time.
  4. I don't know where they would begin if they were going to retool concealment to be less bursty and more useful for PvE. (And thus making people less prone to whining about concealment in PvP) But I think it needs to start with Overload Shot. We go Operative and we get a bonus to damage for it and while that's awesome, the actual damage it deals is horribly underwhelming for what it does. Moreover, it carries with it no benefits outside of chopping away at our energy. Maybe work something out between it and Calculated Frenzy? (Stacking buff?) This is probably a terrible idea. But maybe make Calculated Frenzy a stacking buff which has a really solid advantage but can be "executed" like a Tactical Advantage in an Overload Shot. Sort of like an execute of sorts. As for what the advantage could be? Maybe generally lower the damage on shiv, backstab and laceration but as the stacks get higher the cooldowns on those abilities are shortened and do a bit more damage per stack. This way Operatives would have a "wind up" and a "finish". As said, probably terrible. But I always get giddy when I get back-to-back procs with laceration and get to chain it in with backstab/shiv. So I'd definitely back whatever lets me do that more.
  5. It would be one thing if marauders/sentinels simply had a dps edge. But they also have the utility edge. I know this will instantly result in people rushing in to say that hybrids can do other roles - which is true. But if you take a hybrid as dps, you are taking them as just that - as dps. You aren't bringing them for the ability to toss off a sporadic heal or to attempt to offtank something. You are bringing them as dps. Usually it's the hybrids which bring the group utility and buffs. This is to offset the fact that they will, more often than not, be outdps'd by a pure dps class. Which I am usually fine with. The problem is in this case? We have the pures with group utility and the higher numbers. Which, in a PvE environment, means that hybrids just become more unappealing by comparison. Obviously though, Snipers/Gunslingers kind of lack in the utility department too. With a group damage reduction skill which has (I think, it has been a long time since I played either) a three minute cooldown - versus a Marauder/Sentinel which can pop group based cooldowns much faster. (Again, if memory serves) I guess in short - it would be one thing if they just had the edge in terms of dps. That's fine. 5%? Sure. 11%? Yikes. (And has anyone compared the highest marauder to the lowest operative?) But there's absolutely no incentive to bring any melee aside from the sentinel/marauder. You know, unless you're afraid that it'd take to long to gear up all of them so you throw a powertech/vanguard a bone. Hopefully the expansion will address some of these issues. As opposed to what I fear will be the case and just widen the gap more. (You know, since there are so many sentinels/marauders now)
  6. Long story short, I stopped playing the character that I started this questline on. (Group needed a different class) In any event, my question is can the same character scan for multiple parts? I had used my sage to scan for the Republic-side part (mostly an Imperial player), which is now sitting on a character I'm not playing. Can this same character acquire the part again so I can continue on in the quest? Or do I have to level up another Republic character to 15-20ish in order to get one part? Any information or experiences on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to any answers.
  7. I'm currently leveling as a tanking assassin with a friend who is leveling as a tanking juggernaut. It's kind of lulzy, but at least we don't die.
  8. Or if you aren't bursting things down, you know through the combination of your interrupts, mezzes and loathed stuns that you'll at least piss people off in a WZ. That's what I've started to embrace, I figure out who is healing on the opposing side and try to give them as much trouble as I conceivably can. ... Usually this results in me getting dropkicked by a Vanguard or Sentinel or something though.
  9. Thank you, OP - you completely nailed all the points, I think. To be completely honest, I can understand the gripes that people have in PvP in regards to the concealment operative. No one likes that one in a million chance that they'll be that poor sap to get DPS'd down before they get to do anything. But we are hardly the only class which has this power anymore and lo' and behold, the same mechanics apply. Class stuns and goes into their respective faceroll strat of murder. Yet, from what I understand there has been absolutely no measure taken against these playstyles, which obviously harkens back to the idea of, "Well. Operatives took it in the face because they were a smaller player population." Yet, this still doesn't explain why there are still issues in PvE for the class. Why is Overload Shot so ridiculously lackluster? One would think with all the boosts it gets, it would be worth more than some sort of emergency burst button. (Which it barely functions as) Why does Meticulously Kept Blades increase sever tendon crit damage of all things? Did they just think, "Well damn, guys! We made this hybrid melee/ranged class and we named the last ability after their stabby stuff! Alas, we didn't give them much stabby stuff in the end!" Ultimately, I think that ends up being the problem with the class. Lethality has traces of sniper in it, so it turns into this DoT hybrid spec which suffers less based on position, but Concealment? Concealment seems like they wanted to make us a full blown melee class, yet they couldn't go through with it - not one hundred percent, anyway. It would make sense (to me anyway) if they intend to make us more viable in PvE without turning everyone and their cousin (apparently) into ranting lunatics threatening to quit on the forums, it would seem like Lethality would be the tree to boost. As for Concealment? Countless people have voiced ideas/opinions - be it boosts to Overload Shot or a reworking of the TA's for non-healing Operatives. The list goes on and we are closing in on a year since the game was released and so far? They've yet to even mention their plans for this class, which I'm sure a number of individuals find alarming, at the very least.
  10. I went Assassin the moment they released the details of the patch. It's better in nearly every way. The skill tree structure is much more fluid and even your basic "auto attack" has a purpose. You don't have to worry about your energy tanking below the 60% mark so it is far more forgiving if you have a derp moment. Not to mention, you also get superior PvE sustained damage. It's funny that Assassins are crying about Operative burst when the result of nerfing Operative burst turns them into vastly inferior (in every area) Assassins. So yeah, if you like the Stealth aspect, make an Assassin. They don't feel as incomplete as the Operative class.
  11. Just chiming in to correct you, it's 3 energy per 3 seconds. So an additional energy per second.
  12. I'm not trolling. It's a simple observation that if the Snipers are not performing well, they should get buffed. Hybrid classes are always more complex to balance.
  13. Personally? I'm more pissed off at the PvE implications that this patch has. The drop in Acid Blade armor pen is pretty bad. But hey! No one PvE's it's all about PVP right?
  14. I would go sniper. They are built to do one thing and one thing only, which is dps. If they are failing in that, they will get buffed.
  15. I think this was actually intended. Jarring Strike was apparently too powerful, probably due to the fact that it was available whenever we had a chance to use Hidden Strike. Debilitate is on a longer cooldown. Is it a nerf? Yes. Is it the end of the world? Not really. Personally, I think the real people who ended up losing in this patch were the PvE operatives, since Acid Blade took a fairly hefty nerf. Which, given the original reasoning for these nerfs almost seems like an unintentional result.
  16. Then.. can we have some of your sustained DPS for PvE purposes? No? Selfish.
  17. Yes. It's great being the only healer which doesn't bring anything "unique" to the table. (Aside from poorly scaling HoT's and a broken kit)
  18. Neither Kaliyo nor Scorpio can tank effectively for me anymore. (Operative) But I prefer Scorpio because I got sick of hearing, "Come on out! I'll show you my gun!"
  19. It's a class with an interesting an fun story with a unique playstyle. ... That said, if you make an Operative prepare to be viewed as a second-string everything. Being an unguilded Operative at level 50 is the most miserable existence ever, if people want a healer? They grab a Sorc. If they want a dps? They grab a marauder or a sorc or a merc or a sniper. Just be prepared for a lot of disappointment.
  20. Great posts, I just hope someone is reading. ... More to the point, I hope Operatives are the first class which actually gets an overhaul.
  21. The scoring system: Light Armor - +10 points Medium Armor - +50 points Heavy Armor - +55 points Sorc/Sage Bubble - +30 points Force Speed - +1 point Stealth (Assassin) - +5 points Dark Infusion - +30 points Hidden Strike - +100 points Acid Blade - +50 points Stealth (Operative) - +40 points Diagnostic Scan - +8000 points Overpowered Operatives and their godmode Scan.
  22. I'm not rerolling. I'm certainly disappointed that this nerf to Acid Blade, Jarring Strike and Hidden Strike do not also come with buffs to address the issues with Concealment or Lethality. (Or Medicine) But I'm not rerolling. They can't ignore the class forever.
  23. When I first made my operative, my original goal was to heal. Little did I realize that we were the bottom of the barrel for that. I've looked over this thread and it seems like there are some sound ideas. Ultimately though, I think they need to decide on a niche for us and stick to it. It seems like, based on skill choices, we would be the HoT healer and due to that our healing output would be the highest. What we lack in abilities which mitigate damage or enhance healing, we make up for in in just raw output. The problem here seems to be that our coefficients for Kolto Probe and Nanotech are just too low. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the design of throwing a shield on a tank and tossing out high yield heals is just more potent overall. This is, of course, ignoring Kolto Infusion. Ultimately, Merc healers bring the armor/DR buff to the table as well as the bonus to healing. It's not much, but it's certainly better than nothing. Maybe something as simple as a spec'd Kolto Infusion granting a bonus to healing done on the target? (10%) Maybe a higher chance to crit on said target? Or maybe, because it costs so much for what it does, it could leave a "shield" on the target which absorbs an amount equal to half of what you just healed for. There's no reason for this ability to be ignored. I also think that Kolto Probe once properly stacked should probably be a bit more potent. Perhaps I'm wrong there, but that's what I think. If you're going to invest 30 energy in an ability...
  24. It's a good thing that Operatives excel in everything they can do. ... Oh wait. I keep thinking I made a Sorcerer.
  25. Evidently, there's only one way to solve the player imbalance. Give Knights and Inquisitors the ability to blind all Imperials within a 150 mile radius with their brilliance. It'll last for about 3 minutes. This will continue until the server imbalance is resolved. Provide free-class changes to the mirror of your choosing.
