  1. QUICK DETAILS Where: twitch.tv/boredbritgamer When: Saturday 18th July, starting at 10am UK - lasting 24hrs Donation Link: justgiving.com/boredbrit Hello all you lovely people! I just want to leave a quick message to make you aware of a 24 hour charity stream I'm doing this Saturday 18th July, for Young Minds. Now, I'm going to assume that you're wondering what does this have to do with you, The Old Republic community? Well, it just so happens that thanks to the team over at Bioware have given me a load of goodies to give out at random as people donate. The more individual donations, the more goodies are given out, it's that simple! If you've never heard of Young Minds before, they are a leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. So what are you waiting for? You can donate ahead of the stream and during the stream itself at www.justgiving.com/boredbrit/ and you can watch the whole stream live, starting at 10am UK time at twitch.tv/boredbritgamer Please give all that you can and I look forward to seeing you there!
  2. hey all So this was suggested by one of my followers who thought it'd be cool to go and visit the strongholds you're all making. If the thread in community content is anything to go by, there's a lot of you out there and I'd love to come visit. I stream at 2-5pm and 8-11pm UK time through the week (if you want to give me the tour) otherwise, post your details below (name, server) along with if your stronghold is public or I need an invite and I'll get organising with you Either way, I think it'll be a nice way to show off strongholds on twitch for everyone Yours, Chris AKA Boredbritgamer
  3. hi all, Some of you might now have seen that I stream the game a fair amount (boredbritgamer) and as such most of my time in game is streamed to viewers. Although I am already part of a guild, their ops groups tend to not like me streaming runs which generally means I miss out on a chunk of content. That's perfectly understandable as some players like to be just private in their groups but the main reason I'm posting this is to find a guild which is OK with their endgame group content being streamed to the world. Anyway, I have a lvl 60 operative dps and soon to be a lvl 60 powertech tank which I can use in ops and I'd love to find a home for them and show off guild stuffs on stream Outside of wanting to run ops, I also pvp a great deal and I'm more than happy to group up any time I'm streaming to do content with folks, be it helping to run dailies fast, HK parts, you name it If you think you can give little me a home, please reply on here or send me a message in-game on one of my chars: boredbritgamer varianee Thanks for your time, Chris AKA boredbritgamer
  4. Hey all So this Friday evening (6th March) at 10pm UK time I'll be doing a draw for a sealed collector's edition box. To take part, you'll have to purchase tickets for the draw with Gold Pieces, which you earn by watching my streams when I'm live and be following my channel. It's that simple. I will ship it to whoever wins, wherever in the world you may be. Good luck! Yours, Chris aka borebritgamer See more about my stream loyalty stuff here See my stream times here

  7. I was wondering when this was coming out, great read
  8. So I guess some folks are interested as I've gone up almost 100 followers since posting Thanks all and I'll see you in about 7.5hours (urgh staying up for superbowl)
  9. I was tempted to add in a script which flashed that line until you clicked on it but I thought it was excessive... until your post Don't worry about it man, it's one of the reasons I try to clarify it where I can. Timezones are a *****
  10. I really should move more of them over to youtube for the longer storage, a lot of folks in guild like to watch the runs back. Going to have to start the grinds all over again now, just got hooked on operative virulence
  11. For around that price I'd say go something like this: Processor: i5 4690k - you could go for the i7 but tbh the i5 is super powerful. To give context, I use the i5 in my streaming rig for the game I'd only really recommend the i7 right now if you wanted to render videos, you're not going to see any performance gains otherwise right now Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S - I say the i5 and the cooler as even if you do push things and want to overclock your rig, this cooler will handle everything RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB - this stuff is also super fast, if a touch pricey right now. Still though, will do you for a long time GPU: GTX 970 - I could go over the AMD vs NVIDIA but at the prices you're talking about, this is the most powerful single card before you hit the $500+ mark Motherboard: MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming - soooooo good for a gaming rig, will allow easy overclocking if you want and fast boots etc etc OS Drive: Crucial MX100 256GB - install your OS on this, has space for games too Storage Drive: Seagate Barracuda HDD 1TB - larger traditional drive just for storage PSU: SeaSonic M12II 620 - honestly, there's a lot out there for similar prices, just make sure to get a modular unit so you're not having to deal with excess cables and can just use what you need Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 - really nice case with good air flow and space to swing cables and stuff around in Generally speaking, it's best to shop around on amazon, newegg and elsewhere to see if you can get any cheap bundles with similar items but this build should cost around $1200. Left wiggle room for your cost of Win7/8 (either's fine and you'll get a free upgrade to win 10 once it's released) and any new peripherals you might want (keyboard, mouse, headset)
  12. Fun fact: I called my channel boredbritgamer because I was looking for something to fill my time while I was bored at home baby sitting builders. swtor has been the main game I've shown on stream since last year and although I've played other games, the swtor community has always been the nicest and most supporting, which is why I can now do this streaming lark full time (/pandering) So this week, I'm giving something back to all those who follow me. The full details can be found here and you can see my stream times here . The codes will be given out at random times of the week and there will be an overlay on stream so you can see what's available when you watch! Goodies on Offer: 1x 14,500 Cartel Coins Code 1x 5,500 Cartel Coins Code 3x 2,400 Cartel Coins Code 1x 60-day Pre-Paid Card Code 1x Shadow of Revan Digital Expansion Code Thanks all, hope to see you next week and we'll hang out in chat

  14. bumping to get past the fog I know PvP (especially low level pvp) is treated like Tyrion Lannister but surely this is a quick and easy fix to get more folks queuing?
  15. If you want a quick and easy change, at least double the exp per warzone. Give players a reason to queue for pvp as right now there's no incentive at all. To give an example of where things are at, a simple comparison of 2 characters: lvl 20 powertech tank - all warzone legacy unlocks, warzone exp boost. I've only played pvp on the char, as soon as I hit lvl 10 (so 10 levels). Time played 18 hours 30 min lvl 22 mercenary healer - no warzone legacy, general exp boost. Done a handful of pvp but mostly flashpoints and class missions. Time played 16 hours 27 min As things stand, why would anyone want to queue for warzones? Ignoring even the balance issues, just for levelling characters, they can do anything in game for more exp.
  16. Forgot to mention, folks can comment on this on reddit too if they want to be a bit more... brutal in their posts This isn't a thread about individual class changes, so post in class forums or another thread please hahaha this is very true then again, I use that crystal on every low level char I've made and I'm guessing I'm not the only one A lot of what you'd think are single player games have really nice multiplayer elements. Last of Us had a great multiplayer and when it was released I really liked ME3 multiplayer. Both didn't really have great class variety though and weapons were available to all. In the MMO worlds, the fact that you often have massively complex skill trees, loads of classes, weapons, gear etc all makes it a near impossible task to get balance. So any ways to simplify the process is a bonus. That's the thing with bolster, it's a nice idea but it wasn't designed well, it's buggy so it can be exploited
  17. Coming from a designer background (although I left the industry) that was one fundamental rule that I was taught for successful pve and pvp balancing. 1. Balance all your class skills and the classes as a whole for pvp - there's no additional elements, the only thing that'll effect balance (ease/difficulty of the class) is how it performs against others 2. Once you've done that and you have a balanced system, then you can look at any pve issues. If a particular class is under/over performing in pve, you can adjust other things that don't touch your class balance to make things easier/harder. Simple example is if ranged classes have an easy time, have line of sight limitations set up or have bosses have more marked aoes forcing players to move etc. It always baffles me when someone cites a class in pve needing balance and it's not what designers should know by now and yet a 12 year old game like EVE still wins awards yearly for its pvp because no-one else seems to get balance right on large scale The mobas have become popular as gamers like competition at the end of the day and mobas have nowhere near the balance troubles this has, it's also why things like achievements became popular on xbox, it's a way of showing off
  18. well that's essentially part of the problem, there's too many potential things for bolster to have it go wrong. Simpler is better.
  19. To keep the conversation going, edited in some useful comments into the first post. to recap: remove bolster replace the multitude of different gear stats from lvl 1-60 with a set of baseline stats which can only be adjusted by BW PvP progression still with expertise gear, although may need to re-work the effect it has depending on how BW sets stats main positives allows for a universal class baseline - means class skills are easier to tweak and balance makes pvp not about gear (until endgame progression) and about player skill with the class (understanding skill rotation, when best to stun, use interupts, knockbacks etc)
  20. the pair of you shush with your circular argument seriously though, the problem always has been how bolster "works". It was a poor system then, it is now, I was giving an alternative. If the shiny new bug for bolster isn't yet more proof for needing to get rid of it I don't know what is. Folks wonder why the pvp community is essentially nowhere when there's problems like this that just make it pointless
  21. which is generally the fault of designers everywhere when they should make the pve content harder/easier instead of trying to re-work a class. Balance the classes first in pvp then worry about *** is needed for pve
  22. I suppose there's only so much you can attribute to stats, a lot of it does just come down to how you play the class. I think it's a lot of things compacted on top of each other though and tbh BW have openly stated a big reason for disciplines is for ease of balance, so why not have a situation where they could control base stats more evenly in warzones? I should stress I'm not saying to give everyone the same stats here. I'm just saying give all sages x stats, give gunslingers y stats etc. so you can get a baseline of normality. Then you can re-work things from there.
  23. So if PvP gear was to remain for endgame progression, would it be worth it if the single gain was expertise? Lets say this system is put in. So at lvl 60 you go into PvP with zero PvP gear and you're given some generic stats. Also makes PvE gear completely worthless for PvP, so that's one thing that I don't think any PvP player would complain about. The system recognises expertise on an item and still applies it at endgame. So for arguments sake if you have two tier gear, lets say tier 1 gives 4% (relatively low comm requirement), tier 2 (high comm requirement + trade-in) gives 8%. Final cap for 10% expertise buff comes from vendor stims and from pickups in warzones. So you'd need to re-work the value of expertise for that to work. Essentially, you can't re-work one thing without another. With saying expertise is the ONLY stat to focus on for endgame it still gives incentive to get sets without completely breaking the base system.
  24. I'd probably play devil's advocate with this and say if BW just put in a system where you can see your own dots on a target, they're probably not going to then only allow one type to be on a target at a time, especially as some builds have their output specifically geared around their dots being up (the likes of virulence comes to mind) There can always be variation and still have balance. Some folks *****ed to me about comparing to balance in mobas but if they're balanced enough where folks have big money tournaments for them and they have such a large roster of characters, they have to be doing something right As far as roots and snares go, I can live with them so long as the system to counter them is solid. Resolve is simple but it works, snares you can get around if you take utilities for the most part now.
