First, a story (: When I was leveling my second toon (waaaaay back in the day) I decided to do ranked...when I wasn't even max level, and had no gear because I had no idea what I was doing at that point. I got ragged on pretty hard which is understandable because I was killed in less than a second it seemed like lol So I'm a little nervous to try again because of that even though it was understandable. I've been considering getting into ranked PVP more seriously but I was just curious how much more difficult it is than regs. I am pretty much always the top in damage or healing (whichever i choose to run) even if my team loses. I usually have the most objective points as well, so it's not like I'm just going around killing in WZs. My stats are always the top on arena as well, so i figured I'd give it a try. I'm a pretty casual player and don't take it too seriously but I kind of want to change that. I'm not geared up. I have the basic PVP gear with the 208 (i think) mods you can buy attached. Obviously I'll need to gear up first. How do I get the items needed to get the advanced PVP gear? Can it only be accomplished by doing ranked? TL;DR - I joined ranked way back in the day without a leveled or geared toon and obviously got slaughtered. My mistake How much more difficult is ranked than regs? - want more of a challenge How do you get advanced WZ gear? THANKS EVERYONE!!

To be fair, even Darth Bane technically broke his own rule. He took on Darth Cognus while Darth Zannah was still his apprentice so....I'd say they're more loose guidelines.

It kind of really bothers me that EVERYONE is playing this game. I've seen so many people talking about it that don't even know a single pokemon past Pikachu. I honestly can't wait until the fad passes and those people move on to whatever is cool next. Not long ago people made fun of me for being an older dude that still plays pokemon on my 3DS but now...apparently it's super awesome right? I really dislike people that jump on whatever is cool even though they have 0 interest in it. Overall, It's a pretty fun game and if they add features like trading and battling it will be a really good game. The servers can't hold all the people playing though, so it crashes quite a bit. I will probably get bored since there isn't much to it but I think it'll hold me over until Sun/Moon comes out.

Just wanna say I started the keybinding after reading this and I have to say, it makes things soooo much easier. It's still not all muscle memory so I still utilize clicking when necessary but the need is dropping and I'm right back where I left off. I'm not sure how much better I am but I feel less stressed trying to locate things with my mouse, so there's that. I advise all to switch to this because it's much easier.

I honestly think the game is balanced enough. I can use any class/spec and come out in the top three, if not the overall best of either damage/healing/tanking. I see barely, if any drop in stats of any kind. That said, I see myself as an average player when it's all said and done so I'm not sure why so many people seem to think something is so much more overpowered than others.

Possibly. I don't consider myself to be that great of a player but always seem to do fine. Try making a toon on it and give it a shot.

I'm on Harbinger and there really isn't much of a problem where we get completely destroyed or we completely destroy them. It does happen from time to time but that's just how it is. Granted, I haven't played 65s as much since I switched to the Harb since I'm trying to level up different toons as of now so that could be the reason I don't see it that often. I've been mostly on mids lately. I pretty much spend my entire time in que or PVPing but most of the time it's a good match. If it was always one sided slaughterfests I wouldn't solo que the whole time I play.

Is this really that big of a problem? I always solo que and maybe 1 out of 10 matches are extremely one sided slaughter matches where I can't kill anyone and die really fast. However, it's the same on our side. 1 out of 10 we dominate. Just get better and talk to your team and organize a strategy. No one wants to get swamped.

I would understand if you had to repair after getting farmed. It just makes a lopsided fight even worse for everyone else. It seems extremely selfish to ruin everyone elses game just because you're getting farmed. Instead they should learn WHY they are getting farmed and improve, not quit. Just my opinion anyway.

I have noticed people will go hide when we start losing then when the scoreboard comes up you realize they did no DPS or much of anything before they quit. Is this a case of someone not being very good and just wanting the comms? Either way, it makes me mad. I'll try to solo an entire team before quitting. I find it more entertaining than just sitting around for half the match. Obviously, this is always a loss. This past weekend was the most I saw of this, really irritating.

I really don't see the problem with it. It's fun and requires teamwork. There are battles on the nodes most of the time so I'm not sure how both sides aren't happy. I personally do both depending on a few things.

I'm not interested in doing this but was curious...If you create a toon under your legacy server just to transfer them will the entire legacy transfer with them also? So, basically you would have the same legacy on two different servers (obviously new achievments would be separate) or would it delete from the old server or just plain not transfer?

Life must be hard being so easily frustrated. You're missing out on one of the best games just because of something that doesn't matter, well, at all.

I moved from The Bastion to Harbinger. Gotta say, it was a good move. I can get a group for whatever I want pretty quickly most the time.

I feel the same about Jaesa. I want her back already!! I would like the surprise though. I feel knowing who is coming back is just boring though.

Well considering she always disagrees with my Consulars light side decisions, I'd say no.

I'm glad this came up and all the advice people are throwing out. I always do pretty good in PVP but do the click method and never tried keybinds because I was scared of the transition and sucking.

Sure, I have to watch my energy more but I still put up pretty similar numbers.

I haven't had any problem at all with the changes and I'm only a mediocre player.

I actually had this problem a few times too. Sometimes I can actually watch players run right up to me from far away while in stealth and attack me. It's pretty weird. Has only happened a few times though.

I actually just use all DPS gear. I will probably try using a shield and maybe switch out some armorings to see the difference. Last night, I got almost 2 million total damage and was the second highest only beat out by my fellow teammate a sorc. Being newish to DPS I was quite happy with that since I usually stick to healing.

I started with a Merc when the game launched and only played him for a long time. Then I used to play my Sage healer all the time, but lately I get people complaining about sage healers so I stopped that because I was sick of people crying about it. I usually stick to one class as I level them to 65 through story & PVP, so I've gone through phases of playing a lot with Gaurdian/Jugg, Sorc, Slinger, and PT - I haven't tried mara/sent yet but I plan to roll one soon. Lately, I've been sticking to my Shadow and Op healer. These two might be my favorite to play.

First, I'll stay on topic and agree this should be done in the game. The bodd fights are way too easy. The whole game is honestly too easy but at least make the bosses somewhat challenging. Second, Is FFXIV population pretty strong? I played it awhile ago and I really liked it but came back here and was thinking of installing again.

I'm enjoying it with my shadow. I like the male's voice for the dark side choices. I couldn't see the female being good since she seems so calm and tranquil, but I could be wrong.
