  1. My face when you say buy top end gear..... so when you say no one runs S&V and TFB HMs you mean pugs? because as someone who is doing NiM content I would never dream of doing these HMs with pugs..... until the average player skill vastly picks up no matter what they do players will not run these ops with the human version of trash mobs. So bolstering SM ops does not really matter, more people will be able to buy their 180 gear and feel great and keep playing. Whilst all the serious players will stick to their guild run progression runs with the actual top end set bonus gear. I still do not like bolstering in pvp however, I think it should be completely scrapped from level 55 pvp. Keep bolstering to where it belongs, with the casual players and I praise our new bolstered SM overlords to help gear up newbies and fresh 55s to start running HMs when they get into guilds.
  2. Speaking of healers..... ive had sages queued as healers in full strength gear but this weekend provided me a brighter spark. Over the double exp weekend of course everyone was queuing for operations to level. Doing Maelstrom prison rep side as a shadow tank with some randoms via the group finder, I notice I seem to be very low on health each fight, only the odd heal coming from the sage that barely keeps me alive and I start to get the feeling he has queued as dps. So I focus him and start seeing him use turbulence and yes he is very obviously dps. Now normally this is not a problem except for the fact due to double exp we are all very under geared. So I ask in chat if he can heal a bit more seeing as that is what he was queued as. Then suddenly it begins, I had not known what I had done, this guy then suddenly flys of the handle, throwing down cruise control and starts a massive rant of why I am a noob tank for even needing healing..... cause good tanks don't need healing .... During this rant one of the randoms suggests he actually changes to heal spec so we can get through as we came close to wiping on the last boss with just him surviving (the guy making the suggestion), the sages exact reactions is a bit of a mystery to me but lets just say almost every word was **** in my chatbox. Once the sage had regained the ability to type in full sentences rather than curse words he began insisting it is just a sm so we don't need a healer at all as it is not role specific blah blah. so I decided to getting in a little jab and ask why he was even bothering queuing as a healer when he is an undergeared dps. of course this set off another rant..... so I initated a kick for him not being a healer. The only non stared out messages and ones I could understand included things around the lines of: -how am I meant to level if he gets kicked from fp -why do you even need a healer if you are a tank -sm isn't role specific I only queue as a healer to get faster pops The rest was a blur of nerd rage. Think I made an enemy for life lol
  3. Ah I see you caught me out in a mumbling of ideas, I have corrected this as I had not intended it to try to be worded that it forces non pvp players in pvp but gives people a way to benefit their faction through PVE as well, such as through gaining points by finishing operations. Now you say what is the point of this as the players could just organise it, but they don't, they go on the play other games. Which is why servers had to be downsized from launch. I remember playing on one of the largest servers then everyone quitting because of the ranked warzones delays. The whole concept of this is to bring players back into the game and to add something more for people who still play it; a reason not to just go off and play another game. It is weird reading your reply because you post like someone who doesn't like the mmo aspect of an mmorpg, but that could just be my interpretation of your post, it all seems very jaded to me and I could be reading too much into it or maybe there are those who are completely against the idea of an mmorpg having mmo aspects.... However I do like that your brought up some aspects of other games that do stuff similar like lotro but I was thinking more like RF online that had events for 3 factions together competing for a goal. Even those who did not PVP would get involved as there was a faction wide objective to achieve that gave everyone buffs or worse negatives if they didn't help their faction win. Overall it would give more to the game than the old level and grind which gets dull very fast and doing the same limited operations and warzone maps can only do so much. So why not expand how we do these by really making their a competition between factions? An event that happens once a week on a random planet that causes both imps and reps to rush to a planet to take and hold controlling points to win that planet for your faction and reap whatever rewards may come, do you really believe that would be something that many would not enjoy? or doing an operation and because another team beat the boss first the easier corridor closes you off forcing you to have to fight tougher enemies and then you have to push harder to get to the next one first to force them off the easy road? Googling around I have actually been looking into the elder scrolls online since reading your attitude on the idea of giving relevance to players and factions. Seeing what other games have done with the concept and judging if it worked or failed. Funny enough ESO seems to be having something very similar but a little bit more developed than my musings. It will be interesting to see if players "care" about it, as you put it and if it works maybe we might see something similar get implemented in swtor anyway. I am still curious to see how it all develops and what is a head for swtor, I still think this is a foundation for a good idea for the game.
  4. Hello SWTOR fans, Kyrone here with a suggestion that I would like to see some debate on. Making Factions and Players relevant. Sounds sweeping right? let me explain my meaning behind this, so far we have a single player game with mmo aspects that allow us to play with a lot of people, great right? yet something feels missing. So far it doesn't matter which faction you pick as both factions are identical copies of each other and worse of all no matter what you do as a player you are no different than someone else who is playing the same experience like you are playing a game that has been played a thousand times and you might as well not bother.... but what if there were a way to make it more engaging and worth playing? I am going to hit both these two aspect separately in the coming suggestions so please bear with my musings, good job to those still reading! Factions Your side is one of the first questions you get asked when making a character.... then that stops being relevant once you click it.... especially in non pvp servers. Sure you might start on a different class planet, you hang around on a different fleet and play with one half the community but that is all there is to it, nothing makes you feel like a Republic defender or Imperial warrior. What we really need is weekly server events that pit Republic vs Imperials. Now not everyone likes pvp, which is why pve servers exist for those wanting to play casually so two ways, an event that doesn't just cause players to need to be on a pvp world like Ilum to win in any variety of point based objectives to give their faction a little weekly buff, maybe it is damage, exp, money gain, better loot drops or easier commendation gain and something that means for a week your faction has a prize that the other will want to win back another week but also a PVE require for the other side. A point based operations against the other faction, not pvp, but pve, where one team of maybe 4 or 8 are in one section of the operation and the other faction of the same size are in another area and you are all racing to a common goal where you can hinder each other OR maybe even win points to overall win the operation. Combining the operation results and the open world pve event or warzone events to see which faction wins for that week. Sure this needs some development but can you see where I am going with this? Forcing factions to be at war.... like they are suppose to be, not just grinding side by side. Players So far, if you personally leave the server, nothing happens. If you play everyday once you have your top gear, nothing happens. What is the point of it all? what if the game had something to achieve other than gear? How about faction councils and leaders? have guilds compete in operations and warzones to win their guild points so for the following month their leader has a council spot and possibly the councils could then elect a leader. Which means guilds have a purpose and something to try to obtain, leadership. Now what could be the point of it other than some title? how about during these weekly events council members/leaders could have special powers such as the ability to call in support for the previously mentioned weekly events? an aura buff that gives allies boosts for pvp in these events and race negatives if the leader is killed until they respawn, it would throw a whole curve into warzones for one. So far this is a very rough outline and I would like to see how everyone in the community feels about this sort of idea, because this is definitely an expansion I would pay for. So what are your views and suggestions on this?
  5. Pro Tip: Restrict exp gain, market trades and number of warzones/operations. With other hinderences such as slower unlock of mounts and sprint (even if you do level 15 sprint with 25 first mount like it was to start) do not restrict core aspects of the game making an MMO and solo RPG for f2p as they will never get into end game content as they have not learned how to play the damn game
  6. Cannot chat without paying, well globally anyway
  7. Why are all the forum posters either cheap suck ups or angry WoW fanboys, no one seems to be taking the time to look at it from an impatial point. The current f2p model is hugely flawed, let us forget about returning playings coming to level 50s they cannot use, let us look at this from a new player perspective. Level 1-50 never grouping, playing warzones or really do any operations or flashpoints. All seems well, then you pay at level 50, suddenly you realise you cannot do any content without 7 other people, you have not learned how gear works, how to customise gear, you have not learned how the true MMO roles work as you have been isolated from the community, you do not know how to use your class at all because of all the slot restrictions and lack of communications with other players and more importantly you do not know how to work with people in warzones, flashpoints or operations. Now unless you somehow become lucky and a guild takes pity on you takes you in, gives you gear, teaches you how to play the game including your class, customisation, crew skills, how to group, how to pve and pvp correctly, essentially meaning you have level 50s who have never learned to play the game. Do you really think people will be willing to do that for a fresh wave of players? of course not, the community is so damn fickle it is unbelievable, I have played Marauder since beta, I always used anihilation, top players knew I was the best solo dps, but yet people were on forums whineing the class sucked so whole groups of players were not accepting marauders into guilds, warzones and operations when infact it was the best class all along! All this is going to do is create a massive divide with unskilled players not knowing how to play the game dragging down warzones and operations as pugs who have no idea what they are doing with a community who sees them as scum which will only lead to them quitting the game thus making f2p a pointless endevour. Pro Tip: Restrict exp gain, market trades and number of warzones/operations. With other hinderences such as slower unlock of mounts and sprint (even if you do level 15 sprint with 25 first mount like it was to start) do not restrict core aspects of the game making an MMO and solo RPG for f2p as they will never get into end game content.
  8. and all the Sith were crying for a Sith robe with a hood up since day 1, faction reroll maybe?
  9. at this point constructive posts are going to become rare. I do have a questions for those still around, who actually is going to still be here come 1.3? Heres a little story about server population: I rolled during the initial pre-launch, got to enjoy the six hour server joining queues, then out of nowhere the population plummeted from about 300 on imperial fleet to about 30. So I rerolled went to the second highest pvp server, about 100 people per planet pretty nice, then I geared up at 50 and surprise surprise the entire republic side rerolled as they could not beat the imperial 50 premades on ilum or in warzones meaning they couldnt catch up on gear. Queues die out we (the empire 50s) pick the second most heaviliy populated pvp server, 200 people on republic fleet (decided to try the otherside) about 300 on imperial, pretty nice, I log in today after taking a week off for exams and suddenly only 20 people on fleet because 1.2 was such a fail with stability issues and no ranked everyone left..... Starting to notice a pattern, at this rate if the game ever does get fixed no one will be left to play, seriously it is 7pm and nearly all the servers say light population :/
  10. People seem to be thinking about this with a western medicine approach, treat the symptoms not the cause. Yes server merges or transfer might fix some of the symptoms or even allowing ranked warzones, eight man queues or cross server pve/pvp queues but these would only fix the symptoms. Starwars the old republic is not dieing because these features are not implemented, it is dieing because of incompetent developers. I spent two months with a game client closing bug, not crashing, client bug because an update broke game code for a lot of users, for months rather than fix this they kept throwing out horrible gimmics. I managed to find the root of the problem and fix it myself and it was something that was server side not client side causing the problem which required client side hardware changes, I still have friends who cannot log in due to problem where the terrible customer service keep passing them off back to another first line support as they do not know what to do with it; another big one is the game keeps randomly crashing since 1.2 shows how awesome their testing was for the stability of this patch. All these idle promises about content that is going to get released then having it delayed, ranked warzones being a big instance of this, all the end game bugs that are still not fixed are another example of this. When the developers can fix the game and stop making idle promises and delivering what they said they would, maybe people will resub, but as it stand so many people got frustrated and dropped out, even once they do fix it, there will be no one left to enjoy it as all the servers are dead because they lost faith in the game.
  11. both of which look awesome on the Sith Warrior and ugly as hell on the Jedi Knight, guess I will have to stick with the even uglier War Hero augmented gear :/
  12. Hello one and all, Just a quick question, the relics state that they have a 30% chance to proc on a damaging attack, am I right in assuming bleed damage does NOT proc this relic? Do not want to save up the 200 daily commendations for use with DoTs to discover the DoTs do not Proc the relic, I am assuming that DoT effects do not proc the relic but just wanted to be certain by checking with anyone that may already be using one.
  13. Server population goes from High to low, re-roll. Server population goes from high to low again. Solution unsub.
  14. I do not think subs going down have anything to do with guild wars or diablo at all. Their sales are going down because they keep promising to add content then not delivering, every update brings new bugs, there are a lot of game breaking bugs being ignored and rumour has it that during an interview it was said that ranked warzones were not being introduced in 1.3? So what was the point of even adding War Hero gear?! to create a huge divide between players with no lives and those that have one? If EA want to get their subs up rather than adding stupid things to the game like pets, maybe try fixing what they break and giving the content that they promise.
  15. You appeared to miss the point, nearly all the gear in this game is repeated, such as the Jedi Knight level 20 legacy robes are an exact copy of the Jedi Battlelord robes, there was also another level 34 orange set I saw that looked exactly the same. What I am asking is are there any synthweavers that know of any orange schematics that have this nice clone trooper looking armor with robes over it. So I can get the schematics and craft an augmented varient that looks similar even if it is a different set
  16. Hello everyone, Looking at the design for the legacy level 20 Jedi knight robes (second from left) and they are very awesome looking: http://www.trippintheforce.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Jedi-Knight.jpg They are very similar to the Jedi Battlelord set, I was just wondering if anyone knew where to get an orange schematic of these robes and if so which mission gives the schematics. Regards
  17. Forget what its called, its the heavy piece from the Revan flash point
  18. Actually learn your lore, Revan ashed a sith lord with ligtning without charging it, so clearly he had the stronger force lightning, that and he was one of the best saber masters to ever come out of the wars universe
  19. Had a friend come by last night, playing on his smug, he is now geared for healing and fully spec 31 in the heal tree, noticed a massive improvement with 1.2 on his healing, had a play myself and the character feels a lot more balanced than it did before, might roll a sage once I have unlocked red sith to see if all the qq is true, but I doubt healing should be as dead as it is, I think there are too many people whining on forums putting people off rather than healing itself being poor.
  20. pretty much, sums it up. I am keenly looking forward to how the story is going to develop for this
  21. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c357/Revan619/portrait.jpg Its all about the Darkside Jedi
  22. Running focus since the update and I think the buff we got is amazing, at first I was a little bit concerned as everyone said there was a 10% damage cut, but I have found I am doing a lot more damage per warzone, yeah I might of lost around 300-400 per smash but overall I am putting out a hell of a lot more damage as I can build stacks for my smash from 3 sources now, so rather than running in and having one hit I can constantly do good burst damage. Thumbs up from me
  23. Rerolled last week on a new server because the population died out, we moved our whole guild of about 50 players (which was practically the entire empire lv50 population) to a server with some players. Outside of our guild going 10-49 in wzs whilst questing I did not come accross one healer that was not one of our guild mates, since hitting 50 I have only seen two healers outside of our guild, and I noticed a massive trend of assassin/shadow and powertech/vanguard tank/dps hybrids as for some reason thats the only thing people are playing anymore besides the odd random dps sniper/marauder and this is on what appears to be the third highest population pvp server in europe, clearly the healers are feeling useless and changing roles or classes.
  24. on a serious note this is becoming quite tedious, I lost 2 months of game time which I paid a subscription for and was never refunded all because they rolled out a bug that broke the game for a lot of players and I had to manually find the cause and fix myself, then we lose a lot of time for updates and patches for content that should of come out with the initial game; I do however like that they are giving us a free month and a day back for our efforts, however the annoying part for me is all my RL friends gave up on the game because they could not take all of BW's bs which is quite disapointing. However ignoring ME3 we have not been let down thus far by bioware so I believe they will solidly work on improving the game even if they have the worse CS I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. p.s so for me I shall go to the cosoles rather than wait for the release of some random fail mmo or D3 which will probably be as disapointing as all 3rd installments normally are.
  25. This confuses me, sorcs were always a free kill on their own. However in regards to sorcs becoming pointless that is not the case, at the moment you are falling into the Marauder trap that was at live, everyone rolled the same spec so every assumed that marauders were the worst class, later someone got geared and realised anihilation works awesome so everyone else does that then hey look suddenly marauders are broken. Try something else and remember pvp is a team game, you might not be able to solo the whole team like some could before, but with the right support your not exactly easy pray. p.s Rowandiki your screen shots are not going to pull much support as you have more than one healer doing over 300k healing, but it proves my point, you have a good team and your going to do good
