  1. Wasn't the Emperor's Voice a Voss possessed by a Sith?

In my opinion, a pseudo-religious society based on bigotry and oppression like the Sith would never allow an alien into the ruling class. A Moff? Perhaps. A Darth? Never.

    Never?

Darth Maul ring a bell? (You know the Zabrak in the Phantom Menace that was a sith Lord)

  2. Casuals kill MMO's. They stick around for 3-6 months and run off to the next "thing". Elitists as you call them, tend to be some of the most loyal to their chosen games of any player type; in part because they've invested large sums of time and energy into being successful in their chosen MMO.

Going casual-friendly, whether you like it or not, is one of the first signs of an MMO's half-life declining. F2P is the most commonly cited indicator, failure to produce new content, or only produce content of a single easy to maintain type (i.e. ignoring class stories in the interest of a one-size-fits-all solution) and dedicating obscene resources to the game-provider's personal and direct cash shop while purposefully neglecting the crafting/item making professions are two more (Cartel Market anyone?).

So while you're "rah rah go team!" with Bioware, try and remember you're speeding the game's death. Casuals don't contribute to the long term health of ANY game (not just this one). They are only self-interested to the point they grow bored and then jump ship. Elitists tend to be long-haul players, who stay through thick and thin. Elitists also tend to be subscribers longer term, which makes their dollars financially worth more. They're the "dependable" income companies love so much.

Casual content sells for a week; hardcore content keeps the lights on. And the death of every single MMO can be attributed directly to an overinterest in passing casual players at the expense (and neglect) of reliable income "elitists". Matrix did it, STO did it, SWG did it and now it's SWTOR's turn. You think eventually someone would hire a staff that sees the trend.

Not actually true for all casuals. The guild I am in is casual and they been here since launch and "shock" they still play. I was lucky enough to find a guild like this when I came here.

  3. There are reasons people refuse to group up in heroics

    (1) They want to do it themselves.

    (2) They don't know you

    (3) They don't like blind invites. DO NOT give me the excuse well you are in an open area so it is not the same. If you are waiting for something to respawn YOU CAN ask them first. The excuse it is an open area is wearing thin on these types of post. You are waiting for something to respawn and you can't ask someone to group up and then you want to know why they don't group. Sorry, asking first is polite.

    (4) They are waiting for someone to log on and if they are in the middle of something they are going to log and go join their friends, boyfriend, girfriend, spouse and leave the area. Some people are playing with people and they do not want to get in a group if they are waiting for someone to log on.

    (5) They don't like to group with people that tend to want to continue in the group even after you disband from the group. They recieve messages like (a) Why did you disband (b) You should have stayed in the group © Can I put you on my friend's list. and then when you log on hey can you come help me do this........

Yes those things have happened. Some of us have been through that too many times and yes on heroics.

    I will group:

    (1) If someone has enough courtesy to ask me first (Reread #3 before you say I don't have time)

    Have a good day.

  4. I talked to Matt about Alliance, Companions, and your questions specifically related to accessing future Companions. Between this thread and the ones linked in the OP, I think there are two main questions you are looking to have addressed.

Will I need to complete currently available alert Missions to unlock future alert Missions?

As of right now, the answer to this is yes. Inside of each Alliance Companion type (Military, Underworld, etc), the Companion recruitment alerts are very much looked at like a Mission chain. Generally, you must complete one alert Mission before you will receive the next. Note that you only need to complete the Mission itself, not necessarily recruit any Companion associated with it. There may be exceptions to this later on, for story reasons, but this is the general rule right now. It is worth noting that this is something the dev team is talking about, so it could change, but this is how it works right now.

Will I need to PvP for future Companions / Will I need to unlock Companions like Pierce to access future Companions?

The answer to your question is maybe. We are open to the possibility of future PvP related Companions/Mission content which could require the completion of M1-4X/Pierce's Missions. That said, we would not likely have PvE related content require it.

I think that should answer the primary questions that you have! Let me know if anything requires further clarification. Thanks!

Of all the stupid idiot things to do. You put a mission for a companion for pvp and don't give a person a way to reject it. Do you have any brains? Do you dont' realize there are people that hate to pvp? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

If you going to do something that essentially forces a person that hates to do pvp then this is not about our choices.

I know people who essentially will freeze up when they enter a warzone. Did you even consider this? Hell no you don't use the brains you have to consider that. You just hear all the complaints on the pvp side wanting more people so you stupid people think it would be fun to push people into pvp just for a stupid damn companion and then you decide to lock the others behind this so you can't get anymore.

Do me a favor and remember not everyone likes to pvp. I can get someone to take me so not a damn problem for me but it is for people I know and for those that freeze up doing pvp it is a major problem.

Stupid idea that you can' t reject one!

  5. I like the story but what disappointed me was

The fact that my boyfriend and I were forced, yes forced, to do the first three chapters solo, which was contrary to what they said. They said it could be done in groups, though you would have to do it twice. Not so true, they failed to mention the first 3 chapters you have no choice but to solo them.

My boyfriend and I went to my ship, like we have done on Ziost and I clicked to start and imagine my surprise he couldn't join me for the first 3 chapters.

I don't care if you all think this is not a problem but to those of us that have grouped with people from launch this was a major disappointment. Even in my class story he was able to travel with me to Point Nowhere, etc as long as he was on my ship.

This was not the case here and this is not something they should force you to do. Yes forced it you want to do the story you have to do the first 3 chapters solo, you are not given a choice.

    Bad move bioware!

  6. So I took a break after July. I came back a few weeks ago but I just realized I don't get early access or some special rewards. I don't expect freebies of course. What I'm confused about is why there is no option to buy this stuff? Was this just an oversight?

I'm fine with missing the rewards but why can't I buy in to early access? Retroactively paying subscription or something? I would of subbed if I had known but I don't really like to spoil upcoming features so I wasn't reading about the expansion. I would of pre-ordered it months ago but it's "free" so there was obviously no way to do that.

I was unable to sub for part of one month and will not get the reward nor the early access but it was my fault, not BW. I am taking fully responsibilty for my actions. I don't expect them to turn around and then let us buy the items. It would be a slap in the face for those that stayed sub for all t hose months and very unfair to them.

The information has been here when they first announced the expansion. This is given to sub and it should be. Subs that have stayed and supported the game, even though all the problems, should have something special. I know subs that have been here since prior to launch and no matter how upset they get over some things, they have stuck with the game and supported them.

  7. Why would I be against it being optional?

I think this is a good idea to allow people to help other players that are lower level and guild members.

Why should it be optional when people have requested an option to group up with friends/boy/girlfirends/spouses/guild mates and told to deal with it. People tell these people that it is resources and BW can't do it well if some of you can tell us that then why would I ever support them making an option for this.

Maybe it seems a bit strange to you but I will not support this when all we get from people when we ask for an option is "deal with it."

Of course some of you are going to say the majority wants this because of your circle of friend but when I check the forums it is the same ones arguing about an option, that does not make a majority and other sites outside this forum I rarely trust.

On the game that would also depend on your server and when I was playing last night there was not a majority not liking it.

So since they couldnt' make an option for something that people have asked for since we learned of the expansion I don't think they should make an option for this.

  8. That's a very mature attitude, really. Punish everyone who is against this because a few people were jerks about something you wanted, lump everyone opposed to it in with the people who told you to "deal with it" at some point.

And people in this forums are acting mature? I don't think so.

And on that note have a good week.

  9. I think it is a good idea to be able to help your friends or guild members without hurting their level. It is good that there is a challenge now on these other planets.

Oh yes I know some of you want an option.

But funny thing is when some of us ask for an option on the mission on the new expansion as we like to group with our friends/boy/girlfriends/spouses we were told you not going to have an option so you have to deal with it and do it solo or do it twice. We were always told by a lot of you that we needed to deal with it well now:

You are going to have to deal with this.

  10. I know it is a strange concept to some of you that people actually like to play the game with their friends, boyfriends, spouses but people have came to the game just to do that.

We enjoy playing with them, a total shocking experience, I know, but not any less important than some of you wanting to play the game solo, except most of the times we are ridiculed or worse from people because they don't understand how people like playing together.

Have you ever taken the time to consider some of these individuals play together because they are separated right now due to one of them being in the service and this is something they can do together. No, of course not, you don't care about those people.

All some of you want to do is worry about some stupid NPC romance, which is the same for everyone. That is the only thing that is important to you and who cares about how someone else plays. You don't give a damn about anything but your damn self.

Maybe if you would take the time to see that there could be others that enjoy playing like that you might have a little compassion instead of not understanding.

My best friend plays with her boyfriend and they have always played together and with him being in the service this game is a way they can do something together. But does anyone care? Hell no, not even BW.

They could have put in an option but no that was too difficult for them and who the hell cares!

  11. I wouldn't mind paying for him, but it just seems silly that I missed out on him because I subbed slightly too late.

Why is it silly? I am going to miss out as well but I am not asking for him to be put on the cartel shop for something I did. It was very clear on the page you had to be subbed for one of two days and if not then it is our fault not BW and no they should not give in to those complaining it should be given to us.

I accepted responsibility for my actions , something that everyone should do and not expect BW to not hold to what they said as it is a sub only by a set date and on this one they gave you two dates to get it.

  12. You can repeat it all you want but people who don't qualify for him are still gonna whine about it.

Actually not everyone. I am unsure whether I will get him due I had to cancel my sub for a bit but that was something I did. They have a rewards system and it officially states how you would get the reward. If you don't sub by the date then it is your fault. I am not going to whine or blame BW for something that was in my control. It was stated for a while how to obtain the rewards.

  13. I don't think it should be available on the cartel market.

No I am not speaking as one that will get him. I had to let my sub lapse for a little while so I will not be getting him but I still do not believe that an exculsive award, whether it is a companion or something else should ever be offered in the cartel market.

If they do that , it takes away from the reason they are awards. Yes I know I would have like to have him but I am not going to support the notion that exclusive awards, even companions, should be offered in a cartel market.

I will miss out on him but that is something I expect and so should everyone else that didn't sub by the deadline. Deadlines are for a reason and they even extended the deadlines.

So No please do not offer it as a cartel item, even though that means I don't get it.

  14. Yeah, but as you said it "My head canon" well sure, if we go head canon, then Sith Inquisitors aren't through lightning, they're throwing out rainbows.

Straight from the story the game gives you, is different, and not what many seem to say it is. One can say "Sure, I took the contract but I decide if they get a second chance." okay, but that is not once said in the story.

Nem'ro flat out says "I want these people dead" doing it other wise may make you a nicer person, but then you're no longer acting like a professional, no matter how much you spin it. Nem'ro doesn't ask you to "Get them out of my hair" he says your job is to kill them and the hunter can ask "does it have to be dead" and the hutt says "Yup!" and you still take contract and even walk into the places gun pointed "Time to die!" then they say "Wait! Let me tell you my sob story!"

Contracts are redone a lot of the times and we both know you don't have the entire facts when you take a contract as a bounty hunter. You are only given a version of the facts and when you find your contract you have the option (in some cases) to talk to them and learn their version and then decide.

Whether you listen to them is your choice but it doesn't make your way right all the time either. You seem to want everyone to play the way you perceive them to play.

If everyone played the way you seem to think and didn't have their own story then it would be boring. I know people who are roleplayers and their stories are a lot better than the ones that are done in the game and at least we dont' have a million Dark council members.

I know you are going to argue with this post, as that seems to be your way of doing it, but I am not going to argue back with you. I said what I wanted and that is all I will say.

  15. I know that this may not be important to a lot of people as they are worried more about the companions but this

question is important to me and whether or not I do the expansion.

Can I still group and do my missions with my boyfriend?

If I have to solo then I will not be doing it as playing solo is not what I want to do. I am not speaking about flashpoints or operations, just normal missions, even if we have to do it twice.

If we can't do then the expansion is not for me.

  16. Still no answer to one question myself and my friends would like to know:

    How will grouping work?

I.E. Can you still group like we did in Yavin, Ziost even if we have to do it twice in a group. Maybe not important to some of you but important to myself and some of my friends as we have always played in groups since launch.

  17. I like to know what that means and not months down the line. This will help me make a decision whether I stay as a sub or not.

Yes, I know all about the story and the companions is important to everyone but if I have to solo then they can forget it. I will leave. I didn't come to play this game on my own. I play it with my boyfriend and if these people want to force me to solo the story, then h...ll with them.

  18. I like grouping and I do it with my boyfriend. I noticed that when SOR was released we had to do the same missions twice for them to count, minus the flashpoints. That is unacceptable to me. Yes I know we can do it twice or solo them but how many of you want to be told you can only do this in a group and not your playstyle.

I doubt you want to be told you have to do a certain playstyle, but yet that is essentially what BW is doing to the individuals who group, do it twice or solo. We don't care you like grouping, you don't have the choice.

These missions are generic the same missions no matter what. I have done SOR because of the stupid way they did it because it makes us do it twice or solo. If i wanted to solo things I would not have subscribed to this game.

And don't give me the excuse it is because of the romance arc in SOR and Ziost, give me a break, the romance arc is done exactly the same way no matter what character you do it. I have a friend that has done it over 10 times and it was the same no matter what character she did it. They can make it like someone said on those romance arc as they did with the Voss Trial Missions, where it splits into two different conversation since it just a conversation.

  19. I actually hope they keep it a personal experience. I know people want to play with others, but when it comes to MY character, I only want MY choices to matter. If they want to come along, fine, but I want them to be an observer like they were in the 1-50 instances. I DO NOT want some turd making a choice and screwing up how I RP my toon. I won't stand for that. Personal stories, companions, things that change the world around me are MINE. Not my husband, father, priest or whoever. It's MY toon, MY decisions, not everyone rolls and let's see what happens. If I want that, I'll go do flashpoints.

We are asking for an option for some of us that want to do this. They gave an option in the 12xp I do not see why we have to suffer doing it twice, because some people like you don't understand that some of us want an option. Is it okay for you to have everything you want but others like me and people I know not to have an option to be able to group and share the mission?

I frankly could care less about what companion I have but I understand that people like their companions and get all crazy over an NPC companion but yet when it comes to having an option for us to group with others and share the mission, people like you don't understand we would like an option. Can you stop looking at what only you want for a change and see we are only asking for an option.
