  1. I transferred my sentinel over here to do pvp, is the player base decent on pub side? does solo ranked pop at all? what about group ranked? might bring more friends over if group ranked pops. and what about group finder for ops?

  3. More than willing to help, but what specifically are you having trouble with? Staying alive long enough for your team to get a kill when you are the enemy's focus? This can be tricky depending on what classes you're playing against, but the best bet is to use Cloak of Pain ASAP (if you don't have enough time because you're stunned off the bat then break the CC and camo out of the fight or use Undying Rage if there's a massive amount of damage coming your way). Save your CC break for once you're white barred, unless you know you're going to die, then either break and Camo out, or use Undying Rage (as stated above). Saber Ward is also fantastic, but try and use this ability after you camo out, unless you need all your CDs to assure that you live as long as possible. I also take the utility that heals you when you take damage while Saber Ward is active. Dealing damage in the maelstorm of CC/staying on target? You absolutely must take the root break on Predation, as it's also a great team utility. I also spec into the utility that makes Predation a 30 sec CD, so that i can use berserk freely. This is great to use when chasing down any target, and also gives you and your team a 10% defensive chance increase. If I'm the focus of the enemy team, i camo out then once I'm ready to engage the target i use battering assault - berserk - massacre - gore - ravage- devastating blast - vicious throw to get off maximum burst as quickly as possible. Even if you don't get your ravage off, your devastating blast and vicious throw will auto crit for a total of 20k or more. After that its pretty much massacre spam (along with with rage builders such as DST to get 2 rage and an AoE slow and Force Choke on a fleeing target). Priority for you gore window is devastating blast, vicious throw, then massacre, and finally ravage ( unless you're white barred then by all means use ravage with gore AND berserk). Don't just leap in immediately, run to them first then when they either knock you back or run away themselves, leap at them. You should also use your leap as an escape, if you end up separating their team. Another important thing to note is that if you can't get to the focus target, swap to the nearest target. In order to be effective you must be dealing damage for the entire time that you are alive. Swapping to a target and using gore - devastating blast is a great way to force a target to pop DCDs and deal a good amount of burst. However if your able to stay on target, only swap if the opponent has saber ward/deflection up. You're primarily white damage, which is pretty much useless against any target with one of those two DCDs up. Killing a target before one of your team mates or you die is the most essential aspect of arenas in general, and the only way for you to do contribute to that goal is to be constantly dealing damage. Also don't forget to peel for your team mates too, using intimidating roar, force choke, obfuscate on white damage enemies, and predation on cool down. Also which utilities do you use, and what's your gear like? In the Skillful tree I take Defensive Forms, Overwhelm, and Exorable. In the Heroic tree i take Defensive Roll and Relentless. In the Masterful tree I take Bloodward and Unbound. Honestly there are a lot of opinions of which utilities to pick, this is mine. There's a lot more to playing Carnage in solos, but these are the basics. If you have more specific questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'm also assuming you're referring to solo ranked, correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck, can't win them all, but if you follow these tips you wont be "that guy" who's an auto loss for your team!

  5. Hello PvPers of Bastion, I'm an active PvPer on Jung Ma, and I'm thinking of transferring a character to this server for solo and team ranked. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to who to contact, whether it be a guild or just a group of PvPers looking for more talent. I know solos pop constantly on this server, but hows the team ranked competition? Which guilds have the top 4s teams? When does team ranked usually start on this server? Please state the time zone when answering too please, I'm in the EST zone of the US. I have a decent amount of experience with team ranked. I play combat sentinel and guardian tank on pub side, as well as carnage marauder, hatred assassin, AP PT, and medicine operative on imp side. I can DPS or tank on pub side, and i can DPS or operative heal on imp side.   6. Definitely take the utility that allows you to use Rebuke while stunned, it'll help a lot. Save your breaker for when you are white barred so that you can camo out, then leap back in and dish out some damage. Check the Marauder/Sentinel forums for rotations for each discipline, to make sure that when you are able to get on your target to deal damage, you are maximizing your potential. it's definitely a hard class to master, and you often have to pick between mobility and dealing optimal DPS, but over time you will come to realize its not that bad as a Sentinel. Except for roots and slows, they are such a pain because they don't fill resolve. However, the class does need a serious mobility/defensive buff to bring it up to par with other classes, so by no means am i saying "the class is fine, L2P bro!".
  7. I am writing this post from a purely PvP perspective. Anyone who is suggesting any sort of CC immunity doesn't fully understand how the class plays or what it is meant to do in PvP. At the core of the Sentinel/Marauder class, it is meant to be the highest DPSing class in the game (by a margin of maybe 2% or 3%, but don't quote me on that) when given 100% uptime on a target. Anyone who has played Sent/Mara in COMPETITIVE 4s or 8v8s knows that for Carnage/Combat, CC inmunity after leap would be WAY too OP. The discipline has a potential to do over 20k damage in less than 2 standard global cooldowns, and under berserk/zen we are able to get off a ravage/master stike and devastating blast/clashing blast at just under 3 seconds (even easier with a bit of alacrity). Having 4 seconds of CC immunity every 15 seconds (12 seconds for watchman/annihilation) would give us the ability to get that combo off every time it's available, and the only way to stop it would be to use a DCD to get away. I would say that CC immunity after leap would only be suitable for watchman/annihilation, as they have a decent amount of set up to reach optimal DPS. As for fury/concentration, the way the class functions now it wouldn't benefit as much from CC immunity, though nonetheless it would help to keep on target. Though I'll admit i have not played these 2 disciplines to their maximum potential as they are now, so if anyone can make a case for CC immunity for fury/concentration or annihilation/watchman, I'm all ears. I've also read some suggestions on giving CC immunity for the duration of Saber Ward, and that would just be ludicrously overpowered. If you know what you're doing, no one would be able to stop you for those 12 seconds. Though I whole heartedly agree that sents/maras need a mobility buff (root break + root immunity for the duration of predation/transcendence) and defensive buff especially concerning GbtF/UD. Reducing the cooldown of saber ward, and making defensive forms, dual wield mastery, and purge on camo baseline would be best IMO. Bringing back deadly throw/crippling throw and its root is also a MUST, such an unnecessary nerf. TL;DR: CC immunity would make the top 5% of sents/maras overpowered in their killing potential. Give them a healer and tank and you might as well /stuck. All we need is a mobility and defensive buff. Class balance should be based around the top players who play the class to its maximum potential, not the bads who cry for buffs because leap, gore, ravage, devasting blast never works for them.
  8. Very nice, 2400 dps is quite a lot for maras/sents these days! I don't really like Concentration/Fury, so i haven't really bothered to play it. Pretty much exclusively playing combat as of right now. I have not been able to break 2k in combat yet, although I would love to see high carnage/combat dps screenshots from people! That video is hysterically accurate!
  9. Yes absolutely. The heal debuff is extremely important because 20% less healing received is huge in competitive PvP. Its definitely not as easy to use or useful as crippling/deadly throw, but nonetheless quite necessary in PvP.

Stun immunity is out of the question, though root immunity tied to transcedence/predation or rebuke/cloak of pain via utility and bringing back our ranged root would help A LOT.
  11. Sorry to hear that, i was expecting more from Zeki's guild. Tytrian disapproves! Practice +communication + positive reinforcement + construcive criticism = winning and fun times for all! But on the topic of the OP, I definitely will be playing my combat sentinel in ranked. Damage is fine, and although the tools to stay on target are iffy, good team coordination will make the sentinel shine in 4s. Solos are another issue altogether...

Gonna spam this till it gets noticed I was discussing with a guildie about some potential changes we thought would bring Sents/Maras up to par with the other classes in PvP and here's what we came up with: -Bring back crippling throw/deadly throw and replace the leg slash root utility with crippling throw root (carnage talent pre 3.0) -Decrease Saber Ward's CD to 2 mins, add this to Bloodward/Zealous Ward utility -Add a utility that gives root immunity for the duration of rebuke/cloak of pain, add this to the the Displacement utility. Alternatively, give root immunity for the duration of transcendence/predation and add this to fleetfooted/unbound utility. -Increase gore's duration back up to 4.5 seconds -Add self heals to rebuke, possibly make this only for watchman/annihilation -Make 15% speed boost a passive for the AC, and make the defensive forms utility as well as Dual Weild Mastery passive. -Give us 30% damage reduction against dots, and add this to the defensive roll utility. -Increase watchman/annihilation self heals to 2% -Revert UD/GbtF back to its original functionality, take the health away upon ability activation. -Allow UD/GbtF to be used while stunned, add this to the Force Aegis/Relentless utility. -Make force camouflage a purge that removes all negative effects with the Expunging Camouflage utility. -Make the 6-piece pvp set bonus activate with Zealous strike/Battering assault instead of Master Strike/Ravage -Allow us to use inspiration/bloodthirst in arenas again!
  13. I personally use MS in the Precision window only if i have full resolve, or if a hard stun has been used on my target (or if i have a gut feeling I'll get it off without a hitch). Otherwise, I'll use it with Zen, but out of the PS window to bait a stun or kb, as well as get my auto crit proc for dispatch. Then go with BR + Precision+ CB +dispatch. I'll usually open like this: ZS, Zen, BR, MS, Precision, CB, Dispatch, TST (leap if my target uses a kb or escape tool) If i have full resolve or my target is hard stunned, I'll use MS under precision and Zen, followed by Dispatch, then use my next precision window for BR+CB. You should definitely be able to get off (for the most part) a MS under precision w/ zen everytime force stasis is up, but then again good players will peel for their team. But the best time to use MS under precision is with zen up, and force stasis to stun your target. Either way MS is not nearly as strong under precision as it used to be, and BR spam followed by CB is a more reliable damage output under precision+zen, so don't feel the NEED to use MS under precision every chance you get.

I was discussing with a guildie about some potential changes we thought would bring Sents/Maras up to par with the other classes and here's what we came up with: -Bring back crippling throw/deadly throw and replace the leg slash root utility with crippling throw root (carnage talent pre 3.0) -Add to blood ward/zealous ward utility to make it reduce the CD of saber ward by 3 secs every time you're attacked, which can't occur more than one every 1.5 secs -Add a utility that gives root immunity for the duration of rebuke/cloak of pain, add this to the utility that lets you use rebuke while stunned -give 30% DR while stunned, add this to the utility that builds rage every time you're stunned. -Increase gore's duration back up to 4.5 seconds (this one is just because i love carnage and I'm totally biased towards it lol) -Take away the damage done by rebuke, and replace it with self heals. -Make 15% speed boost a passive for the AC, and make the defensive forms utility passive. -Add a new utility that gives either a 15 or 30% DR against dots
