  1. companions are not "bots". they are simply timers. they are definitely time and credit sinks but they are not "bots".
  2. why dont you just freaking PAY MONEY TO SUBSCRIBE and get to level 80 as fast as you can, then you can send out EIGHT companions out at a time? waaa waaaa you dont wanna pay a measly 15 dollars a month for TONS AND TONS AND TONS of GOOD BENEFITS ????? /sigh
  3. what i meant was, the latest iterations of the mainline Hero Engine have been 64-bit AND DX11/12 AND (i think) Vulkan ... FOR YEARS AND YEARS. i did not mean that it was ever "originally" x64 since obviously it has not been. i guess i should have worded myself better.
  4. dont be ridiculous. you are not reading the forums or the SWTOR subreddit. HERE is the solution because THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of other players can play SWTOR right now who also had your same problem and are IN GAME right now. TO THOSE WHOSE GAME WILL NOT START: THE FIX is to download the DirectX 9C latest update from Microsoft -- Search BING for "June 2010 DirectX 9c update", then download AND install that OLD update -- and then reboot your PC. YOUR GAME (YES even the 64-bit client) SHOULD WORK after that.

TOO LONG ; DIDN'T READ all of it... ok so when are you going to pay money OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET to make this happen? because doing even a tiny bit of that costs MILLIONS of dollars. btw you are dreaming. i hate to be a ballbreaker but what you suggested is better for a NEW WHOLE OTHER GAME than SWTOR. Devs are NEVER EVER going to consider doing ANY of that. you suggest way too much. I suggest you take that stuff over to some project over on Kickstarter. if you truly want any of that to happen, MAYBE the writers could consider SOME of it as part of a new xpac.... but that is the ONLY WAY any of that could ever happen in THIS game -- as part of an xpac.
  6. hahahhahaahahaha That would KILL the player base!!! STEALING OUR WEALTH is NOT COOL AT ALL and it would cause a MASS EXODUS AWAY from the game! BTW taking anyone's credits away DOES NOT fix the economy. It does not take away all the MANY MANY MANY MANY (unbound) CARTEL MARKET ITEMS i own that are NOT bound that WILL go right back on sale for 2,3,4 BILLION credits as soon as i get logged back in... probably a month later because people WILL SPEND on Cartel Market to sell items on GTN that they got on the CM. The game will NEVER NOT be "pay to win". if players would learn how to INVEST (whether real money or game monies) in this game, they wouldn't CRY LIKE BABIES over a measly <= 5k credit loss per QT. Another thing is, the FASTER you get to higher levels of your character, the more the game GIVES FAR MORE CREDITS BACK TO YOU per quest completion and loot amounts. Why are so many people forgetting this? GET YOUR TOONS LEVELED to 80 ASAP!!!!! Then you will NOT CARE or complain about lack of money anymore .... geez!!!!! you get far more creds, as loot and rewards, at higher levels, than you do at lower levels!!!

  8. oooooooo let the MASSIVE EPIC Reeee Reeeeeeeees BEGIN!!!! BTW people, in old iterations of this game, there was ALWAYS a credit cost to Quick Travel! They only took it away (the credits cost for QT) as a MUCH BELOVED QoL fix, around the time of DvL event (pre-KOTFE) because they wanted to make it easier to complete the DvL event and drive people thru all the new content in KOTFE. And it stuck because people loved the free QT. Now they're just being assholes about it lolllllllllllll I agree with most people though, that such changes are NOT going to stop the gold spammer scammers, NOR affect the whale shark GTN billionaires in this game (which i am one of them, now -- but only because i have learned how to play GTN the LEGIT AND smart way).
  9. i have been wanting this FOR YEARS!!! I wish Ben Burtt played this game -- he designed almost all of the old (movie sound effect) sounds i am sure he would care. but i doubt Bioware cares.
  10. The ONLY thing Bioware Devs need to do, is RETROFIT the NON-forked Hero Engine (which has always been 64-bit AND DirectX12/Vulkan) into the existing game client. We have 64-bit now, but i am fairly sure they did not do this???? The graphics do look a bit better tho. and RE: the graphics, both before and now ... i used RadeonMod to maximize a registry hack of my AMD card's LodAdj to-6 and now i have tons of shiney + great details IN ALL of my games (it's a Level of Detail hack for any AMD graphic card. Previously only NVidia users could do that but AMD users can too) And anyone who disputes me on this (about going back to the non-forked Hero Engine) is pretty ignorant. i've researched it. But yeah, IF YOU KNOW ANYONE who has the MONEY NEEDED to do this, send them to Bioware because frankly, EA DOES NOT CARE or they would be opening up the purse strings, or finding venture capitalists who DO care.
  11. i find it totally amazing that it took us a FULL 11 YEARS since between the very first post here, and the PTS finally going REAL 64-bit!!!!!!!! yes this post thread was started 11 years ago and it took them THAT LONG!!!!!!! and yet, when it was announced, it was lightning fast that anyone could finally go jump on PTS and test it all. Just like that. Huh.

  13. i was on PTS last night and everything worked great -- no problem at all whatsoever. i dont know what is wrong with all your (everyone's??) computers?!?! i will say however that my PTS installation had to be wiped and reinstalled via full download from scratch (i did have update problems before the point where it all worked good. so i did have to do that).
  14. that same thing happened to me about 2 iterations of PTS ago (back in December when they first opened PTS 64-bit up for the first time). the exact same thing was happening to me during/after the Character Transfer/Copy thing from Account webpage. idk if it is still going on but i am glad i was not the only one noticing that. i thought something was nuts lol
  15. hahahahahaha Have you been on PTS yet? i have been on there at least 3 times and WOW IS IT SO SMOOOTH!!!!!!!! The Umbara FP train is still really bad (ugggh) but there are almost no glitches or hiccups on the Fleet VIP elevators and the character animation and motion just in general is just SO NICE! I LOVE how FAST it feels! i feel almost like i am skidding and slipping around on hot melted butter all over the floor....

  17. no offense, and my French language skills are very very poor, but .... Devs, can we please get an (auto) TRANSLATE feature on the forums, since, you know, we have 3 separate language groups that are officially supported in this game (English, French, German) -- not even to mention how this game also has a LOT of Spanish and Portugese players, as well as a ton of Russians or Ukraine players..... There are also some asian players in the game too (Japanese i know for certain). It would really help the player base if all of these different player bases could talk to each other and understand what we are all experiencing, let alone for the forum moderators and admins and devs who are probably reading the forums a lot more often now since the forum upgrades (and i love the new forum!!!)

  19. Title. I know the main problem with 64-bit code currently on PTS is with those areas which have grassy areas or a lot of tree leaves etc... But will these be fixed? Everything looked very pretty on Dantooine, Balmorra, Odessen, etc. on PTS last night (the grass, the leaves, the foliage, etc) -- only planets i didnt check were Quesh, Voss, DK, or other foliage-rich planets like Onderon. My max FPS on those 3 planets (Dantooine, Balmorra, Odessen -- because on that last world, i used the logout before fall-dying trick, so i could explore it better) was maxing out only around 50. Average FPS was 30-40+. I was just wondering when the graphical processing will start to be more offloaded to the GPU and leave the CPU far more freed up to do other things. Where can i find out the active development status or what work is being done to testing code on PTS? The dev team isnt really talking much about how they are working on PTS level code or what is in the works for the future of SWTOR. We have not even had a roadmap yet and Keith Kanneg said they would post something substantial during the end of January. Today is the 24th. 6-7 more days to go. Come on, Keith Where is the 64-bit code going and what is being worked on, please?
  20. no no no, all that stuff is handled locally by the client. Servers just get updated about movement and position but they do not actually "move" the character or the companion based on input from the client, which then gets actuated in the client -- that is not how it works. The client handles all the action and the server just records and coordinates and arbitrates between connected players in all kinds of ways. Companion movement is not effected by server lag. That's silly. The lag between PC and companion was never laggy before 4.0 or 5.0. we NEVER HAD the problem before those updates. This is not a server issue. It's a "we updated the client code" issue. "That's not a bug, it's a feature" etc etc.
  21. The very first video game to add/use DirectStorage just came out today. Meaning it is at the vanguard of modern game level design. https://www.howtogeek.com/866815/the-first-directstorage-game-is-here-is-your-pc-ready/ I write this post to implore Developers of SWTOR at Bioware Austin to please look into AND IMPLEMENT DirectStorage into level loading in this game (SWTOR) because even on a SSD, loading time is still painfully slow (and a real pain when switching instances for various Ops / WB group reasons). It can always be an optional feature that toggles on only if the player's hardware supports it (they have an SSD and/or a modern enough computer where the new API will work). Those of us who have the specs should deserve to have use of this if it gets implemented. I just dont wanna have to wait around forever while my computer switches instances just so me and my friends can go take on that next World Boss / Champ in another map instance. Loading rolling loading, keep those map instances loading .... noooooooooooo Also the weird glitch where the loading screen gets thrown off down into the bottom left hand corner has been in this game for years and it has never been fixed and i know it is not my computer that is alone in experiencing this. Unlike many players i know how to properly maintain my computer and fix errors and glitches because i am extremely tech savvy. When this game finally went 64-bit (on PTS at the least), i did not go gloat OUT LOUD or call out SteveTheCynic. i merely gloated to myself (until now haha).
  22. yes. THIS. THIS is what i want. a new tab only for ALL loadout gear. OR, just make it work like Outfitter works where all the cosmetic looks gear is already STORED IN MEMORY, there ready to switch around? Separately, also, can we please have a freakin SORT FUNCTION ON LEGACY BANK YET????
  23. there is a better solution to alllllllllllllllllllllll of this kind of nonsense and it is NOT just related only to the Hyde and Zeek conversations: CONVERT ALL conversations in the game code to impose a 5 or 10 meter radius exclusion zone to the actions / movements / activities of ALL people who are NOT involved in the conversation or holo experience. This will NEGATE ALL immersion-breaking nonsense and hijinks by other players imposing their presence on a conversation or communication experience when they are NOT INVOLVED in it. Does anyone else understand what i am saying? it is just an exclusion zone which keeps other animations and "stuff going on" OUT of the area, ONLY for those people immersed in a conversation or holo.
  24. i am disabled too and because of my condition (Lymphedema) i am not able to sit up longer than 5-8 hours of the time ON SPECIAL days. ON MOST days i am prone, in bed, all day, every day, and this has been my way for about 13 years now. When i play SWTOR it is always IN BED with my keyboard and mouse right there. I do not think using a controller is even close to optimal given all the abilities and powers one must use, 1 of those buttons must act as a shift key. Have you ever tried putting your computer (i have a tall tower "desktop" PC) next to your bed and your monitor there (or on a wall, low enough) so that you can play from bed? that is the only way i play and it is the only way that i CAN play, due to my own disability of lymphedema (i also have open leg wounds on my leg and i need to keep my lymph swelling down in order to try to heal them).
