  1. THANK YOU for posting that link! I could not find a cancel option anywhere. Part of me wonders if they removed it prior to the latest "expansion" in anticipation of a mass exodus lol. Anyway, I just canceled my sub. Might come back if the game ever comes to its senses again and is actually enjoyable. Good luck, all.
  2. I have to concur that ignoring the cap simply isn't possible. Believe me, I wish it were. They can't address this cluster**** soon enough IMO. Heck, the weekly reset was *this morning* and I'm already pushing the cap on all of those currencies, yet don't have enough of all of them on hand to actually do anything helpful for my characters.
  3. I've now gotten the majority of my capped characters through the flashpoint with no breaking errors. There are some very irritating things (like companion auto-dying on the mountain ascent, and the far too dense concentrations of silvers and golds in the trash groups) but I've been able to complete it. Even the big old Malgus fight is fairly easy, in solo story mode at least. The trick is to not spend your time chasing him; park with your back up against the pillars and let him come to you, stay out of the angry red AOE, and chip away at him. Oh,and if Tau / Rivix / whoever suicides on that final climb, easiest thing to do is dismiss them and re-summon. If your experience is different, feel free to post about it (the dev team needs to know this stuff if it's ever going to truly be fixed).
  4. None of those are bad ideas at all, and would be fairly simple to implement.
  5. I really hope this is true but remain skeptical. I would LOVE to stop feeling forced into running GSF constantly, because I'm a fan of neither flight simulation stuff nor PVP in general. If I could get implants running content I enjoy doing it would make a huge difference. But I personally think even the raised cap is too low. With 17 fairly active characters, most of whom are at level 80, those medals add up super fast just from conquest. Then there are the many, many missions that award them and the frequent random drops of them from mobs. And let me guess, these improvements are coming 'soon', as in some unspecified later date. Still, I have some reason to hope.
  6. Yeah I ran into that fun issue right after the patch dropped. I feel your pain. I was able to go buy some of that useless 320 gear at least. If you don't have any level 80s at all you're pretty much screwed. They shouldn't award those to people who can't spend them.
  7. If you have nothing to spend the MoC on it means all of your characters are fully geared, which is highly unlikely. I doubt the person who said that is in that position. Ran into a brand new cap problem today; I keep nudging up against the tech fragments cap (THAT still needs to go *way* up too) so I figured I'd get a legendary implant for one of my characters I don't play so often.(The ones I do all have both, just not at the highest level. I prioritize those with none over upgrades.) Only I didn't have enough medals of commendation, so I went to grind out content to earn some and I finally realized why it wasn't working. The general cap of 999 MoC is brutally low, but with 200 each being awarded for conquest I figured I'm hitting the stupid weekly cap in just a couple days' time too! 999 is too low for that. Make the overall cap increase by a factor of ten, I suggest, and the weekly should be double or triple what it is. I'm never going to get *any* of my characters decently geared at this hobbled rate. And I used to not mind getting legendary embers with tech fragments, but when it's that versus nothing and you're kinda forced into it, it feels so unfair. Devs, I hope at least some of you are paying attention. This is only adding to my increasing frustration with this supposed 'expansion'.
  8. Just adding my name to the growing list of people who want the MoC cap GREATLY increased or just gone. I also miss renown, when not only could any player get BIS gear without playing any particular way (remember "Play Your Way?" Good times.), but *customizing* your gear was both possible and simple. Mod-friendly end game gear? Miss the hell out of that. But for now I'll settle for fixing this Medals of Commendation debacle.
  9. I'm happy (or more accurately, relieved) to report that I got through this hot mess in story mode, *finally*. I was initially going to try it on my strongest character, my assassin, after hearing the devs had messed around to potentially fix it, but I decided to try it with a ranged DPS character instead, so that I wouldn't get bogged down with tanking or healing strategy. My Innovative Ordinance Mercenary seemed right (it was him or my gunslinger) so I ran him through the dual mission, complete with awesome Lana and creepy AF Rivix, who I had healing me. No problems for a change! Even the Malgy fight was a piece of cake; I just kept my back against a pillar, only attacked him when he was in range, and only had to move to an adjacent pillar once to avoid his nasty red AOE. So yeah It can be done, though I'm anything but enthusiastic about repeating this epic slog on other characters. The ending, though, was a total letdown -- don't worry, no spoilers will issue from my keyboard-- and the trash mobs remain far too numerous and tough, or decidedly non-trashy. Anyway, I assure you all that it's improved and is no longer impossible. If I could do it,I'm sure anybody can. Best of luck to all. I'll remain subscribed to this thread in case there's anyone I can help troubleshoot problems.
  10. That, at least, I can help you with. You need to reset your phases. Right click on your portrait, select 'other' and select Reset Phases or reset Local Phases whichever it says. Then you should be good to go for flashpoints, ops, general story phases etc. You don't need to reset that FP as it does that on its own. I hopped out of it on my scoundrel after my first disastrous attempt to look up some tips, and when I tried to jump back in (I hadn't done anything in between, just went afk a bit) it started right back at the beginning. And as much as I'd like to abandon, or even drop kick, this mission, it's considered vital and can't be dropped. Would that it could! As to the 'it's only on Faction X' theory, i can verify that at least for me there has not been a single faction OR build I've been able to get through the Malgy fight. That includes painstaking experimentation with my placement, the combat role of companion, etc. It's just shameful. I may have said it before but if this crud isn't fixed by the time my subscription is up, it's (sadly) bye bye to my favorite MMORPG.
  11. Well, I am ranged (scoundrel) and I gave up after something like twenty 'fall damage" deaths. I tried going back in this morning without resetting the phase, hoping it'd take me right to the boss fight, but just my luck, ti restarted the whole ***** thing. NO FREAKIN' WAY, I spent so many credits yesterday repairing. Not worth it. And I'm also one for whom the 'workaround' only sped up my imminent demise. With an important part of the story impossible to finish, essentially no decent reward for all that work, disappointing story, the (in my opinion) hellish dystopia they call 'combat styles', the huge nerfs (in the worst way) to classes and knowing that the only way I can get decent gear is to do MM operations, I'm just not feeling the love for this big ol' mess. I know It's just me but if this stuff is no better by the time my subscription is up, I'll take my money elsewhere, and I know for a fact I'm not the only one. Good luck folks, and if it magically gets fixed, post it, please. I hate leaving it undone but it was that or lose my sanity over it, lol.
  12. I am going to attempt to post a url to that other Elom FP thread, not sure it if'll work because when I try to go back to it myself I get the maintenance screen. https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=1001429 There, I believe that's the one. It's still growing too.
  13. This isn't even close to the first thread I've seen about this. Yesterday there was one over eight pages in length, and no fix in sight. The devs were just seemingly ignoring it at first but one of them did pop in on that thread with a 'we're working on it' message. They also suggested that fighting Malgy happen on the edges of the platform because that *might* keep the glitch from happening. No ETA on a fix. I am 99% disappointed with every change they made myself. I can't afford to keep running a FP that's impossible to finish. The one change I do like in 7.0? The loading music is back to its original glory! Cause that Onslught loading music was so lame! Anyway, I've pretty much decided that until something gets fixed I'm done even trying. I have 17 characters and am NOT going to waste my time and hard earned credits for essentially a big fat headache. I wish you all the luck.
  14. I'm actually on the Satele Shan server, and having the same issue. Last time I played was the last week of January and I had no issues then. I had to go out of state for a family emergency, then ended up in the hospital for a week with a medical emergency, so I was 'out' for about two weeks, but NOBODY used my computer during that time and I didn't change anything on it. Yet starting yesterday when I attempt to log in, I just get the forever loading screen. I let it run for an hour earlier, hoping I'd get booted out to the server select screen or something, but no such luck. I do have (really, really old) characters on another server but I can't even get to the point where I can choose which server to log into. II ran the repair utility and have scoured the internet looking for help. This is the closest thing I've found so if anybody has ideas or similar issues let me know, please. I admit I wasn't THRILLED about the upcoming changes in 7.0 but I would like the chance to experience them before deciding to not play anymore. Thanks
  15. I believe I mentioned this earlier but I'm not going to go digging for that old post, if it even exists outside my head. My best advice (apart from analyzing your tacticals, augmenting - I mean it sucks but you CAN remove augs to put in better gear later - and further looking into your build / class abilities) is, on that last fight... Kite The Adds! There is plenty of space in that room and some handily placed crates, etc. to hide behind. LOS is your friend there and it enables you to pick those nasties off one or two at a time. That, and hitting your heroic moment / unity as soon as they spawn. The second group, for sure, but use it on the first group if you need to. You surely already know that the healers need to go down first. I only got through it on my (at the time) under-geared and quite squishy scoundrel by kiting like my virtual life depended on it. And it's a strategy I have repeated on other less-than-bulky characters like my sage and maurauder. Believe me, I understand your frustration and if there were any way you could do the solo-story flashpoint NOT solo I'd be happy to tag along on any class you chose. You can do this though. Don't give up.
  16. Many congratulations! That is pretty much how I felt once I finally slogged through the darn thing. See, you had it in you. Now you know you can do it, you're obviously tougher for it, and you learned a few things along the way. (I for one learned that I have no desire to relive that experience, although I do have one more 75 to go through it, my marauder lol). Nice work.
  17. That is bizarre. Also, slight edit to my above rant: Spirit of Vengeance could also be *much* worse if it somehow merged with a PUG of Hammer Station -- still the only other VM flashpoint I won't queue for in group finder. Yeah, I will run it with friends or whatever but randoms? Nope.
  18. I certainly agree that so much new-content whining is premature and more a matter of players not having figured things out. I can honestly say though that while I did find some previous FPs challenging, and even some of the KOTET/KOTFE stuff, I always managed to get through it with a little introspection and readjusting. Yeah, even when it took several wipes and even on occasion a day's waiting between tries. My personal opinion, and I will not state it as fact because it's definitely just one player's experience, is this flashpoint IS the worst (although thank the gods they're not shouting about House Inrokini on top of the so very, very heavy handed use of crazy tough silvers, etc.). LOL. My issues with it are the huge amount of silver mobs, the impossible-to-prooperly-stealth-ness, the layout/length, and the story which I found utterly lacking. Yes, I know Mandalrian stuff has its (huge) fan base. I'm not part of it, really - I mean, i did enjoy the BH class story but it didn't want to make me delve into 'mando life or anything (again, just my personal take; I mean to offend nobody). I just didn't find it compelling and that *very* strong hint that there's more to come along these lines elicits a "well, that sucks" from me. Of course I'll do it if it's part of official story line but I do not look forward to it. Having said that - and complained endlessly to my poor guild mates before I figured this **** out, lol, I'm glad I can now get through it but I will probably never voluntarily run it in GF or otherwise. And if anybody needs actual help with it, feel free to look me up on Satele Shan. My main Pub side is the scoundrel Tohrahn and my Imp side main is a tanky assassin named Fray Cassius. Play hard!
  19. Not to worry. I don't think you're necessarily doing anything wrong - my scoundrel had a devil of a time with this fight, so much so that I almost quit the game over it (well, for a bit, I wouldn't have perma-quit). Aside from what the previous poster said - all decent advice - I'll tell you the trick I used to survive those horrible adds, especially that nasty second wave. As soon as she jets out of reach and you know the adds are coming, head to the front of the room and into the corner. Yes, there are two fairly secluded corner spots behind crates or something. While this hardly turns you immortal, it does offer a bit of LOS protection so that you can fight these evil, evil 'mandos in smaller chunks. Once they stop coming to you, go ahead and take your companion (and your newfound dignity) and finish the suckers off. And yeah, kite all you can on the big boss herself because those stuns are evil! You can do it! Once I figured that add survival bit out I was able to get all of my other leveled characters through, in all their many flavors of squishiness and toughness, from my assassin to my sage. I will sum this up with three words I feel describe SoV quite succinctly, though you're free to disagree: Worst. Flashpoint. Ever. YMMV. *We apologize for the gratuitous use of the word 'evil' in this post, but evil must be named and shamed.*
  20. As much as I'd love to have Flawless Riposte, it's kind of a fluke that my Guardian even ever got the gloves on a drop. I don't play him enough to want to go through the punishment it would take to manage the whole set. Lord of Pain is sounding reasonably useful at least. I never PvP so it would essentially be for the CD and damage reduction - both good things when you're taking all that heat like a good tank does. I don't know if Amplified Champion is worth it but I'm keeping my options open. My guy's only just now getting at the 306 level, and he's not one I play a whole lot so I'm not in a rush.
  21. I would like nothing better than to get a new ISP but it's just not an option where I live, I'm afraid. In fact I'm kind of lucky to have good, generally fast and reliable broadband at all considering how many Americans who live in more rural or small-metro areas don't. Still it beats dial-up and ***ing satellite internet, both of which I was stuck with for far too long. Good luck, folks, and to those of you who have more than one choice of broadband provider, go for it! Encourage the free market competition.
  22. Just a quick update. I did download and install WTFast and it's working well. i was not only able to log in and play normally but I also jumped right into an op with my guild. Zero issues. Just wish it wasn't so expensive lol. Still, if I continue to have problems with lag when not using it I may keep it. Just got the trial for now. It kind of angers me that such a huge ISP doesn't care about their router health but it's not like they're gonna listen to li'l old me.
  23. Well, I can see this thread blew up into near-troll/lflame level proportions overnight (that's overnight for me, in midwest US). I do indeed have spectrum as my ISP. Not sure how to get their heads to roll on the issue as it's probably not affecting their biggest customer base. But I'll look into rerouting somehow (thanks for suggestions there). In the meantime, folks, please play nicely with each other. We're all posting here because we love the game, not because we love arguing. Yeah I know, sometimes with fans of anything that's a tough distinction to make lol.
  24. That's disconcerting. Well, unless another undersea cable got snipped it's probably something that can be fixed with some good old fashioned IT sleuthing. Here's hoping they get it resolved. But if it IS just the SWTOR servers, the devs ought to jump in with some status updates or just get it cleared up. Please, devs. Please.
