  1. No one likes essays unless it's needed. Companions are always staring at the PC, it's unnerving. More so, they seemingly lack life. Have then look around, and preform simple actions no real depth beyond that. This is something that has been bothering me for Years. I like, as many, to RP from time to time. Walking to my objectives and such,....stealth walking (creeping) up to a target I intend on killing. There currently no animation for stealth walking, easily rectified: Slow down the stealth run animation. Thanks!~
  2. I've gotta say; game revenue would boom through the roof if they went console. STO has about the same number of players PC-side as SWTOR, but STO Xbox has a QUE time due to the large volume of players. Lead Game Producer Keith would be well advised and wise to port this game. The income would be enormous, so much so we'd see full fledged expansions again. Aslo, backline KotFE and create co-op content that could be used to bridge the level gap KotFE created. That story ARC is the reason for the mass exodus of players several years ago; being forced more or less, down a single player content road instead of continuing with the friends you started with was a rift. Albeit a good move for a game that will inevitably become a non-MMO. STO isn't an arbitrary choice comparison. Roughly the same quantity of keys/skills are required to pilot and be competitive there as is in SWTOR to manipulate your character's functions. No other ports have such a diversity as these two. I support my claims to KotFE's rift by personal experience. Many friends and I have rolled new characters; it was a blast to go through the many various story-arc's planet to planet, class to class and share with eachother choices made. Laughter and fun are affluent through that channel of play. Upon reaching that cleft where you either search for other content to level together, or just do KotFE, many left leaving our characters and our account untouched. I don't discount it as a wise decision; everything will expire and KotFE is a good bit of single player experience for when the game closes it's servers. I don't and won't play Xbox and so I have no personal need for it's representation, I do however harbor a great fondness from the Star Wars Universe, this game particularly. I can only speak as to what I've seen, and I'd deem it negligent not to sharpen a point that might resurrect this game to good form. We've all noticed the lack of diversity in the player base as we do battle in the various WZ's leading to the "dead game" dilemma. From a financial stand point I'm sure a port would be difficult if not entirely out of the question. Petition anyone you can, garner the necessary fiscal backing and make it happen. Get estimations on time required, and monies needed. If the analysis says much, then crowdsource funding. It will work, there are millions of people on this planet that would donate a dollar to see it happen. Companies, producers and other backings don't like to hear "Maybe" nor would anyone. With any degree of aptitude, facts to facilitate this need are abundant outside of my testimony. Utilize your competition's success; those are the values of an open and free market. So good luck, and may the Force be with you. Fellow players; peers, I encourage you to be relentless in the pursuit of this topic until it's a reality. If you wish to see SWTOR soar to the dizzying heights it could achieve, you can be part of its success story.
  3. I agree with the original poster. That being said I actually discontinued my sub two weeks ago because of that healer nonsense. Read about the nerf, new map then resubbed. Hope it's realized people love PvP and would like to see a periodic map release that sponsor 8v8 or even better; 12v12 arenas that I could use my mounts in.
  4. Dear Devs, it becomes apparent to me no one is paid to weigh and evaluate PvP. Which striking as it may seem, would easily expose major flaws; uneven healers are this topic's. For instance: if you've played a recent Void Star you'll usually notice how there's more healers on one team than the other. Making it feel after 10 minutes that your efforts are completely in vain and an utter sense of despondency will creep into the fringes of your mind. I've spent, and want to spend oh so much money on this game; as I believe one should invest in those things they enjoy. I'll take my earnings elsewhere and see you all in another year in hopes things have changed. With that said, some of the other changes that have been made in my absence were welcomed. Anyone attempting to deny these obviously correct remarks may do so and be laughed at by the majority. Everyone needs practice in self-humiliation.
  5. I prefaced this writing such simply because it's apparent to all whom have logged in, noticing the lack of players now apposed to launch and shortly after. The reason of this writing, is for those like me who wish the best for SWTOR and want its vigor and player-base back and more; enhanced. Some of us live and breath Star Wars, but it wasn't just lightsabers, an intriguing adaptation of right and wrong (light or dark), the depth of storytelling detail, or spaceships that brought this profound love into our lives. It was its undeniable believability- Like Star Wars Galaxies, TOR was released without a space component; now remedied. However, that wasn't the only component lacking. We as lovers to this franchise could regale you with hours of minutiae but that isn't the point I make to you today; it is, that some of those often overlooked details are what sells the experience. It's no surprise that creators look to other, more successful creators for not just inspiration but for method. Treading dangerously close to plagiarism is the fine line that defines creativity. In the MMO experience there is but One that is looked to, one model to emulate; the Might WoW. Which has been surpassed in many ways by our beloved Bioware and EA, yet falls short in many others. Even they sought their roots of overwhelming success through Everquest and many others. Our number will never add up to theirs because we Require a certain fidelity graphically which will limit the number of possible users. With those points made we move to the execution of my Order 69; to wipe this planet's MMO's from the face of the (Internet) Galaxy! I don't like inviting the comparison of WoW to others like SWTOR because they're two completely different universes. However-- they are competitors and some mechanical components were born from the same format yet legally not intellectually infringement to each other or predecessors indicative to MMO's. Now for the short and skinny- I salute yee who has read this far. Not all of us liked Episode one: The Phantom Menace but we loved the Pod races- I know I speak for the community as a whole on this point. Those of us that have played WoW, recognize two of it's oldest maps: Alterac Valley and Arathi Basin. Inconsequential for players, but for those wishing to succeed in keeping and spurring an online community are well advised to see its features and its mastery. Mounting in PvP, and maps that have much detail. Look there for inspiration. Gambling: too many times I have found myself jumping in circles, half bored or too tired (for some, too inebriated) to do other things of consequence. I revel in the idea of sitting down to a game of Sabacc or Pazaak. Better yet, betting on them or a Pod race piloted by players while viewing it on a screen, eating my dinner, sipping my drink. Release a questionnaire and see if I'm alone in this, or better yet- question yourself. Unrelenting bugs. I've made a few new Sith recently after my long disappearance and something has become more apparent than ever; The bugs. "Bugs?! I hate bugs!" Indeed they plague the starting experience endlessly. Does that seem like something that's going to keep new potential players or payers at heel? NPC's are lackluster in their armoring. I'm not going to sharpen this point much. When you've purchased some new gear, paid for it to be obtainable for your new characters, you won't be able to help noticing how much more Impressive you look than those around you. Take the Sith for instance; you're hard-pressed to find anyone in non-spandex looking (skintight) gear It would add immense purpose to immersion to remedy this. I'm a patron of the Arts, you've all been a great audience. I bid to you good night, and may the Force server you well.
  6. This man has it straight! If they were to incorporate this into the game, they'd need to add a decent set of variables such as shifting or shooting to keep players engaged . Modifiable parts to add to the intricacy. Skill and modding should key success.
  7. This maybe a bit lengthy, I do apologize in advance. The idea I present incorporates a new breath of ingenuity into the control system for PC based MMO's. The design is to strengthen character mobility, lessen unnecessary strain on hands, and free up keyboard keys for more practical use. How it came to be: Being a seasoned veteran gamer, I've encountered many MMO's and have extensive experience exhausted as years of gameplay. One thing is certain- Kitting is KEY!~ I've tried many courses of making my characters more mobile: attached a gamepad with a 3rd party program to iterate movement keys, using a keyboard exclusive technique, and determined on both accounts that not being able to manipulate the direction of the camera independently was unacceptable. And let's face it, holding down the left and right mouse buttons or one and the other is tiresome. As well as ailing for the hands (you do want to sell games to the same people in later years; this is more easily accomplished if your consumers don't have carpal Tunnel. ) As with many gamers of late, we've invested in mice that have extra buttons, unto which we map them to act as Alt, Ctrl, and/or shift and bind them with letter-keys so we can expand the "easily accessible" skills or items to add versatility. This is the primary cause that dictated necessity of the new intuitive control scheme. The Idea: I've dubbed- "mouse-movement-mode" (15 yard penalty for an original name) works as it sounds; initiating it makes the character move in the direction the mouse has been gestured. Much like the thumbstick system used on Android or iGen games. The immediate problem would be when you'd want to not move... A Simple UI design --Compassesque with a smaller circle 1/3 the size within the center area. The area between the outside circle and inner would reference the cursor ball: indicating direction/heading. The inner Circle is the cursor's nest when no movement is desired-- Left, right and diagonal Axes will strafe the character respectively. All this would allow for precise movement, even while fighting. Activation/deactivation: The idea is to not impede gameplay especially when in combat, so with that in mind- Keeping the right mouse button as camera function will allow for fluid movement and sight simultaneously. Clicking the left in conjunction will resume standard technique of running forward. Clicking both again will resume MMM. Health and other: If this were a pitch I'd make note to remind readers that being a purveyor of the people's health as an industry is always appreciated by computer users. It's the sentiment that lead to the creation of the contoured mouse The movement system that is currently in play has been so since the Dawn of Gaming. The technology is improving so shouldn't the way we play follow suit? SPECIAL THANKS: To everyone at EA, Bioware, Lucas Arts. From programmers to Presidents to voice actors and everything in between, you have my appreciation and this pearl. That being said, I release any and all intellectual property rights of this idea for use in Star Wars the Old Republic.
