  1. thanks for the post Despon! What advice would you have for dealing with teams of gunsips? (aka 2 or 3 gunships working together to cover each other/blow people up in 2 shots) Do things like upgrading your sensor dampening help? Or do abilities that reduce gunships sensor range help? I upgraded fully a NovaDive scout with the EMP field in hopes that it would be effective vs Gunships since it lowers their accuracy (by 10%) and also their sensor range (by 5000m) plus eventually you can unlock its ability to disable shield or engine abiltiies. Do you gunship pilots notice any EMP field users vs you and is it even effective?
  2. I've seen an increase in Commando's on my server. My brother and I have been playing our commando's a lot lately and we've been forming groups of 3-4 commando's and doing pvp with them to a lot of success! I run a Assault Specialist Commando and my brother does Gunnery. We are usually both in the top 5 of damage for the whole match and its not uncommon to see either of us be the top damage dealer for our team. I main both Assault Specialist and Gunnery commando's and I enjoy both a lot for different reasons. They both have excellent burst! I tend to like playing my Assault specialist commando more recently since I love putting 6 dots on people when you use supercharged cell plus Assault Plastique when timed right is really great for burst! Supercharged Cell is the best on Assault Specialist imo since you get a nice burst with its quick dot (Supercharged Burn) and it also increases the damage of all the other dot's you do. Also, BW giving us Propulsion Round was super helpful! It makes it so that I can solo kill juggernauts, powertechs and operatives and it is really effective when timed right and it has a 20 second cooldown. I usually end up with a couple solo kills each match thanks to this new ability. Thank you so much BW for Propulsion round!
  3. so glad to see so much support for GSF! My brother and I have within the last few months started getting into this again and we are having more fun playing GSF than any other part of the game currently. We used to play it a lot when it came out but our server population died down (we are on Bergeren Colony). We wanted to get back into GSF again after having a ton of fun getting some matches on our server one night with our old upgraded ships. The games were just to far in between to have nights dedicated to playing just GSF when our regular PvP population on Bergeren is much higher and you can always get matches with that all night. We decided to branch out to other servers and made brand new characters on Harbinger whose sole purpose is purely to play GSF. We ar both in our level 50's after doing nothing but GSF with our characters and its been a blast playing GSF on a server with such a big GSF community. I think there are a lot of people trying out GSF again like myself and its good to see because this is a underused part of the game and it has so much in it! it will take a long time to upgrade all the ships we have but its fun to level them up and tweak their loadouts for certain matchups. Gunships are still annoying....but at least if people are running lots of scouts they aren't as bad a issue, although going against a coordinated group of 3 or more gunships is a nightmare to deal with unless you all attack as a group at once, otherwise they just pick off individual attackers like nothing. GSF needs some more love BW! I think there is enough interest to justify maybe some new ships and maybe a new map down the line. Doesn't have to be this year, but it would be nice to see this aspect of the game get some attention. I love GSF and i would love to see more made for it!
  4. sorry....just lol'd at your statement that Assault Specialist Commando's are ineffective in PvP. I have a lvl 64 AS Commando and I consistently get in the top 5 of damage and they have excellent burst. not sure if you have even played them in a while. They are pretty darn good and I get a couple solo kills each match. As far as the topic of this thread, they are introducing a new warzone soon and its going to be a new mode. The devs are working on tweaking the stats to be more in line with what they want to see dps numbers be. A lot of people play the FotM and thus we may not be seeing the counters to those classes being played and thus the perception is that the game is unbalanced because they see just lots of people playing those classes instead of branching out. BW has the numbers available to look at and adjust the classes, which they end up doing often. Doesn't mean they can force people to play certain classes. Some classes are just easier to play and thus people gravitate to those and they become the FotM. For example, a highly skilled Marauder can be just as scary to go against as any powertech or sorc, but they are harder to play and thus people go the easy route and play those other 2 classes. Doesn't mean that Marauders can't get good damage numbers.
  5. BW stated a couple weeks ago that we'd be getting a new warzone and that it is on Odessen and it will be King of the Hill and that more details would be released shortly. Was just wondering if anyone had heard anything more on it. Really looking forward to playing pvp on it! Sounds awesome that we are getting a new mode! Just goes to show that BW was listening to the feedback generated a while back on what we'd like to see in a new warzone.
  6. I love this game. I don't check the forums often, but posts like the OP are rare because the people that don't like the game feel a need to vent in public about their frustrations, whereas most people who enjoy the game and its content are content to just stay in the game and enjoy the experience. They rarely go on the forums and post about thngs they like. Its just the nature of the beast. I wouldn't take the number of negaitve posts on these forums as being indicative of what the whole community thinks. Its just mostly the disgruntled attention seeking gamers that feel a need to post their rage while trying to act all noble and convince others they are doing it for the good of the game. Not saying all negative posts aren't needed, because sometimes they are very much in need of attention. I'd be much more inclined to pay attention to a posters complaints if they don't go out of their way to post on the forums much, whereas "serial complainers" are never happy about anything and thus I am less inclined to take them seriously.

  8. I noticed recently that the Introduction to Group finder mission is impossible to complete for a character of under level 55. It shows up as red and can't be completed even after joining group finder and completing a flash point. It shows in the box that you need to be level 55 to complete it. Prior to the expansion, this mission was always one of the first ones that I would complete as a fresh lvl 10. Was this intentionally changed to have a lvl 55 requirement or is this a bug that need to be fixed?

  10. I've made toons on both Imp and pub side on Harbinger, in the process of making an Imp and a pub toon on Ebon Hawk. I am unfamiliar with the /cjoin command. What does that do exactly? I've been inthe same guild my whle time playing and I was invited by my bro, so I've never had to actively look for another guild to join before. Not sure how effective it is to post LFG in general chat, but maybe that is a good way if you specifiy GS?
  11. Thanks guys! I was on Harbinger last night and I actually saw Danalon flying around on my team (my Imp characters name is Gokudo, my bro is Yakuza) and it was fun to be flying around with people like him that know how to fly their ships well. I honestly was the weak spot of the team (died 5 times) but as the matches last night progressed, I was focusing on what you guys have been saying and it helps a lot. I'm trying to get the ship req to unlock the S-13 Sting and get the loadouts people have been suggesting, but as far as playstyle and the loadouts that I am able to implement on my S-12 Blackbolt, I really appreciate the advice you guys are giving. In one of the matches I focused solely on one of their gunships and being patient and starting my shots into shorter range (mid to short instead of letting loose from long range) it was pretty effective since he/she never got into a good position to take out my teammates, whereas I blasted that pub to the cold depths of space a few times. Was fun night of GS! its really refreshing to be playing GS again and it seems there has grown to be a good community of players. Way better than the toxic atmosphere ground pvp has sometimes. I noticed that some of the ace players that used to play GS on Bergeren Colony are now on Harbinger, such as White'wolf. It was fun to see so many people that I used to see regularly that are still playing and enjoying the game.
  12. Just getting back into playing GS again regularly with my brother. I need some advice on playing Scouts. I never played scouts much before (mained a Strike Fighter before) and it seems that they should be the best counter to the gunships that are abundant in the ques. It pretty much seems that gunships are there to counter the bombers (for good reason) but they also seem to take out our strike fighters pretty well also. So I'm trying to focus on becoming an ace with scouts and would like to ask everyone else's advice in what scout ship to get good at using and what loadouts (crew, DCD's, primary/secondary weapons etc..) are best for taking out the gunships. What do you Scout ace's use? What tactics do you use? Thanks in advance! Side question: we made new characters on Harbinger and Ebon Hawk soley for just playing GS since our server we main on (Bergeren colony) doesn't have a large population playing GS. Any good guilds that we could join that are GS specific?
  13. Thanks! The matches we played were a lot of fun and it was close up til the time expired. My brother and I were just floored by how much XP you can get now with doing matches. It is nice to see! Glad to see that BW did these adjustments

I got on with my lvl 58 a couple days ago before the new patch and I did a couple games with my brother, and we noticed that the XP rewarded after each game just about got us half way towards our next level! I love it! We haven't done GS matches in a long time and it was a welcome suprise! Definitely going to be queing up some more after this. We had a ton of fun playing! Bombers still seem a bit OP, but at least gunships kinda are their opposite so they aren't as bad a issue. I love playing my strike fighter! I have it decked out from when i played GS a ton after GS expansion hit, it still feels like it can do well. My load out is the ion cannons as the main weapon which can be switched to my secondary long distance laser cannons and then I have cluster missiles (might be wrong on the name, but its the quick lock ones). Anyways, just wondered if they had improved the XP rewards lately cause it sure did feel that way even prior to the new patch. Has anyone noticed what the effect has been on GS XP rewards since yesterday? I'm planning on getting on tonight for some GS, but thought I might get my brother to join in to level up some of his characters if it still is good, so I'd like to know what people in the GS community have noticed. Thanks in advance!
  15. If they could make it so that Sheild rating wouldn't be automatically bypassed by auto crits, then I think the rating would be fine and it would be a appropriate buff. There are so many dps classes that run around now with auto crit abilities that shadow and vangaurd tanks really are suffering, imo. Guardian tanks are just fine and always have been since they are the ebst in the game at what they do and part of that reason I believe is because of Blade Barrier which lasts for 10 seconds and they pretty much have it up all the time since Blade Storm only has a 12 second cooldown. They run around with a Blade Barrier that absorbs a moderate amount of damage that could be even from a auto crit. The other tank classes aren't so lucky. Maybe if they got something similar your see these classes doing better. I used to main a Vanguard tank but since 4.0 it seems that with all the crazy auto crits and the damage that comes with that, my guy dies way to quickly and it isn't fun anymore. hoepfully they improve the tanks specs in vanguards and shadows some day soon. They even took away the uniqueness of Storm from the Vanguard Tank and just game it to everyone in the class, so that kinda sucks also. I think both shadow tanks and vanguard tanks should get an addition to one of their abilities that grants them a barrier that absorbs a moderate amount of damage that can be kept up relatively easy.
  16. funny how a lot of people on the forums are all up in arms about getting HK-55 as a sub reward when this was exactly what most of the community asked for in this survey. Seems a few disgruntled posters on these forums clearly doesn't represent the majority of the player base. I love that we are getting a companion as a sub reward! It shows the BW is listening to what the community is saying.
  17. /sign I don't agree with exluding premades from warzones (why would you prevent friends from playing pvp with each other?) or demanding cross servers. Cross server isn't possible, but BW has said they are working on a different alternative. I hope they keep to that promise. I'd like to sign for the part where you mentioned asking for new maps and new warzone modes.
  18. Good point about the Dev's simply responding to the poll they had a while back asking people what they would like to see for subscriber rewards! I had almost forgot how recent that was. It just shows that they are listening to what the community wants and that is great! I love this game, and the sub rewards are what I view to be BW's way of saying thanks for having fun. They don't need to do it, but they do anyhow, and I want to thank them for it! I sub because I love playing this game, not because of sub rewards.
  19. Very true statement here. I enjoy this expansion and I enjoy this game. I check these forums mostly to find out upcoming info and to ask questions. But I do feel a need to try and give some positive feedback amidst all the negativity. Developers are much more likely to respond if your respectful and give constructive criticism. A lot of what I see is rants and raging and I hope BW dev's don't think a majority of their player base is like that, because from all the people I've seen on the server I play on, its mostly positive because the people playing for the most part are having fun playing the game. There are for sure some things that need improving. But a important lesson I've learned is that some people just want to ruin your day and they tend to be persistent. I feel sorry for those people, because they feel a need to make others feel as miserable as they are when playing this game.
  20. I'd like to play as HK-55, so yes to answer the OP's cynical thread question, there are people that really do want to play as HK-55, myself included.
  21. They couldn't do that for many months since droids don't weart much anymore. Customizations would be cool. That they are giving a new reward every month is quite impressive to me because before it took a new expansion coming out to get some sub rewards, but now each chapter is like a mini-expansion and they are giving us rewards for being there when they hit. I personally can't wait til chapter 10 becomes available! I have loved the story a lot so far and if we get more rewards based around the story that is perfectly fine with me. Reading other peoples comment on other forum posts, I think some people are being unreasonable to assume that they'd make a whole operation or pvp map as a sub reward. hings like that would be included in a 4.X patch, not a smaller patch.
  22. Correct. I really think this needs to be addressed in some upcoming patches. Sheild rating and absorb are the most worthless stats right now because they hardly matter with all the auto crits abilities now. The only classes that are being negatively affected by an opponents shield rating and absorb are the classes that need the most help right now. Sorcs and PT dps are crushing Shadow and Vanguard tanks left and right . At least Guardian Tanks have a barrier that pops up and absorbs all damage in a moderate amount when they use Blade Storm with their Blade Barrier ability on their discipline tree. Its this reason that Guardian/Jugg tanks do so well imo, because this is a as useful as Force Armor is for a Sage/Sorc in that it absorbs all damage no matter if its a crit or not and it has nothing to do with a tanks Absorb or Sheild rating.
